#656125 LadyGT's ending

So far I've never spent a single penny in any Naruto merchadise. But if LadyGT decides to draw a more concise and logical endings over the OOC fest we got from Kishi, hell I wouldn't even think twice before supporting her monetarily, i.e. I would gladly buy it.
Do it, Lady!

And that's why the very first thing I disliked about chapter 700, was it's title: Naruto Uzumaki!
It is not Naruto.
It is everything else. It is Sasuke Uchiha, it is Hinata Hyuuga, it is even Sakura Haruno, who've earned the man she has been fangirling since the beginning. But there was nothing about Naruto in those pages. The Hokage seat means nothing, when everything else about him was rendered meaningless. His very nindo, the PoaLT, the girl he wanted so much... everything I loved about this character, discarded. Just like that.
You are right, KnS. Naruto is not the main character of his own story. What a disappointing ending...

Many times better than getting with someone who tried to murder her several times in cold blood.

Holy cow! Although I'm completely, totally, overwhelmingly busy as hell with my personal stuff, I couldn't let this moment pass "unnoticed" and not post here.
Sakura and Naruto Lips locking!! Holy kitten!
Ok ok ok, let's all be fair here. It was just a CPR which is a standard medical procedure.... BUT WHO CARES?? They pretty much kissed!! You don't need to be a genius to figure out where this is leading.
Anyway, gotta go back to work. Catchya guys later.
NS FTW!

Sorry this is a bit late,
I'm wondering Darkness, why you do not like this idea? Actually I've seen the argument that people see the って from Naruto as potentially being some sort of negative or "joking" jab at Sakura's confession, which of course isn't the case (I just saw this as generally the case). The argument saying that Naruto brought it up (her confession) to "paraphrase it" with heavy implication that he is joking with her (due to the next chapter I believe). But this is an argument that has no backing in it whatsoever. I think that it is okay that people believe that Naruto may have said it in reference to her past confession, I see it as something possible because the sentence left that part ambiguous. But for him to use it as something negative is taking things out of context.
I do stand by my translation as only being "Well, something like that..." but I can offer another viewpoint of the scene that I think is a lot more smoother than "quoting" Sakura. More...natural? I really like this best, but if someone was to ask me to add the "tte" into my translation for this scene specifically, I would use the translation above. I would not use "she said/ it is said/ etc."
まあ、そんな感じだって (maa, sonna kanji datte...)
Well, you can say it is something like that.
and of course the it is referencing Minato's girlfriend comment. I'm okay with this translation as well. And in this case it is more direct like "Yes you can say that she is my girlfriend" as opposed to the very indirect "Yes it was said that she's something like my girlfriend" hahaha, sorry if I'm not making any sense I'm trying to explain it best as possible. Really I think it all means the same thing, it's hard to twist it to make some other meaning. I think it's something really simple as this and nothing intricate.
Clearly the scene is very NaruSaku!

There is a little mistake, the raw says だって not だった (but that doesn't interfere with anything)
Dang it. I still don't like this idea, but well. You can't always win.
I'm sure that the shipping war will last to some extent till after the series. Just today in the anti-NH FC at Naruto Forums an NH fan came in and asked if any of us thought that NH had a legit chance, that they were worried because "Kishi is known to go against his fans," and posted later hating upon my girl Sakura (don't worry, I didn't say anything). To some, if (when?) NS is canonized it'll just be evidence of bad writing. The thing is I think there is a lot of bad writing in the manga, especially the war, I don't disagree with that, I stopped reading for two years. But Kishi has always been consistent with Naruto's feelings, he has always been consistent with the dynamics of Team 7.
And frankly, I don't even mind the continuous debates. I'm fine with the attempts to prove to me that the parallels don't matter, explain to me with evidence why one thinks that while NS fit the parallels Hinata is the game changer. That's fine, there is always merit to discussions. But it gets to me when within the same discussion, the same individual claims that the parallels are irrelevant ("parallolz"), while also manufacturing an irrelevant parallel, or while predicting that Hinata will fit a parallel (ObiRin). The NH-KM manufactured parallel is irrelevant, it's based on the presumption that Minato was quiet and perhaps a bit nervous. We've seen recently that he was silly and a bit nerdy --much like Kushina, Naruto, and Sakura (and I think the nerdishness rubbed off a bit onto Kakashi, LOL). Ugh! Yesterday Chatte got a message on tumblr, that was three or four lines long in which the asker ridiculed the "parallolz" while also explaining that Hinata would be paralleled to Rin. It's like, why? Why don't you explain to me why Hinata would fit that parallel? Tell me how the manga indicates that, show me how much Hinata's near death affected Naruto (it did affect him) OR tell me that the parallels are irrelevant. Why do both? I just don't understand.
And obviously none of the above compares to the sort of personal attacks made by individuals on all the sides (yes on the pro-NS side as well). That embarrasses me more than anything, and it hurts to read those things. Whether you disagree with someone or not, those are real human beings on the other side of the Internet, people who might have troubling lives, who might be using this debate as a distraction. When I see these attacks online, to individuals unknown to us personally, I'm reminded of the 13 year old who committed suicide after she was told to do so by thqustie mother of a peer who created a dummy account on facebook. Of course that mother knew who she was talking to, but still how many of us know who we're talking to, what their ages are, what's going on their life. And all this for fictional couples/characters? Sigh.
Oh, sorry that was long and ranty!
No problem. About debates, actually I'm not discrediting the validity of a proper discussion. In fact, to question other people's arguments what usually leads to a debate is something very good, it is healthy, it makes us exercise our minds to not simply accept what you are being told without considering it logically first. But some extremist fans, as you've mentioned, love to rely on double standards and usually don't think twice before attacking you personally instead of the idea you are defending. And unfortunately this kind of behavior is very common around the Naruto fandom since some fans rather want to debate with their emotions instead of their brain.
Anyway, sorry for the late reply. Been a little busy with some stuff.

Ok, since I haven't won in a while, gotta predict something good this time:
I predict the next chapter Jordan will miss one of the winners.
Nah, of course I'm kidding. Next chapter I predict that Rin will be brought up in the conversation or at least she will appear in one of the panels.

@ Darkest: I agree. Plus, while Sakura hits Naruto, he screams ば "Ba!". So, he says datteba! But he can't finish with the -yo.
It's really nice to know that. I was never fond of the "he was referring to Sakura's confession" theory.

^That reminds me..Kurama has said this several times, "Naruto, you are....". It never finishes.
Actually, this has just given us another reason to believe Yamato's words have a somewhat deeper meaning. It seems to be a habit of Kishi to let important and meaningful sentences unfinished, probably until the moment where the plot calls for it.

Naruto always keep it same and Sakura is the one they plays around with.
Summarizing:
The manga shows it like this:
Hinata -> Naruto -> <-Sakura -> Sasuke -> Sasuke
The anime (fillers included) shows it like this:
Hinata -> Naruto -> <-Sakura -> Sasuke -> Sasuke

I have to ask, how many think this actually officially declares "Naruto friendzones Hinata?"
For me it is yet another evidence confirming what had already been confirmed.
An evidence of the evident.

You talking about me? Yes, in essentiality. Basically, it's just that he doesn't care enough about her to actually trust her to help him.
Ok, this bolded phrase caught my attention. You guys are really analyzing too much some details in order to blame Naruto. Saying he doesn't care enough about Sakura is completely overdoing it.
The fact that he tried to help Shikamaru has nothing to do about not trusting Sakura's own capabilities, in fact he already acknowledges her motivations and trust her skills since 631. It is a fact that during this war Naruto is trying to carry everything on his shoulders, just the way he has always done or forced to have done given his destiny as a Jinchuuriki. Arrogance perhaps? It's possible now, but to me it is exactly the opposite of what you've claimed: overcaring. He just cares too much about his friends and all his comrades, fodder included. I think that was clear enough in 615 where even after all the talking about not letting anyone die and never giving up he was still led to a mental breakdown because of Neji's death and there's also Obito who kept taunting him leading him to believe for a moment he couldn't do anything to prevent any of that. Later when the tree was summoned it's fair to assume it has killed a fair amount of the alliance in the process and it again led Naruto into disbelief. Some might claim it was a little repetitive and of course everyone is tired of having motivational speeches every chapter but tossing that aside we can clearly see that there's only one thing that can break Naruto into tears, killing his comrades.
Overcaring about his friends is his main flaw during this arc, if you can even call it a flaw. Helping Shikamaru is just another example he doesn't want to let them die, this does not mean he doesn't trust Sakura specifically, he wants to help everyone and that's evident by the flashback he's got and by giving his chakra to everyone, even Sasuke. Doing it on an unconscious level means he can't stop thinking about them no matter what is the circumstance.
Sakura's thoughts while healing Shikamaru: I really don't see her criticizing Naruto and asking to be relevant. It was more like worrying about Naruto's devotion to them. If you wanna blame anyone for Sakura's lack of development on the battlefield, blame Tsunade, the one who came from nowhere with a senzu touch and healed Shikamaru instantly while taking credit for the healing away from them both. It has already been discussed how Shikamaru was already out of danger when she arrived however there's no denying that was harmful event for Sakura who could've proven right there how she doesn't need Tsunade anymore and perhaps be the conclusive evidence that she had surpassed her master. We all want to see her kicking some ass by herself but there are tons of ways she could have done it and it is clear Kishimoto has been missing some real golden opportunities.
