Part of me wants to believe 700 was fake, but it's stupid to hope and have my heart broken again. It would actually be my fault that time. I'm content (well, not really) believing Kishi sold out and retconned a rushed NS that would have probably still left a sour taste in my mouth (though Chōji-Karui was... now that I think on it, it was nice to see two undervalued characters getting together.)
Think I'll frequent here more often now, been lurking for way too long and this ship, regardless of whether or not it got torpedoed by the others, can't sink after so long. We may be dead in the water, but it's just as well, looks like Kishi is leading them off the edge of the kittening world.
I think I'm actually going to use this disappointment as motivation for writing. If Kishi can be this bad a writer and still be popular I'm confident that with enough practice anyone can write well enough to be enjoyed. That being said if I ever write anything as absurd as that ending I hope more than just a fraction of my audience, however small or large it is in total, realises it and calls me out on it.
As for the ending, even if I ignore the NH and SS, we all deserved better. A 18 page epilogue right after Naruto's fight with Sasuke is just not justice.
If it wasn't for the fact that this manga lasted for 15 years and has a load of character character development that supports NaruSaku and literally neither NH or SS I wouldn't be so damn pissed off. 15 years Kishi! 15 years down the kittening Hyuuga!
I don't comment often here. Prefer to just read what people have to say, so I'll get to my point quickly.
There's no truly logical reason to believe that Sakura's confession to Naruto was a fake confession. Only after she says that she doesn't care about Sasuke any more does he change in his attitude and say she's lying to herself. The most you can pull from it is that it was that she confessed because she wanted him to forget about his promise to bring Sasuke back and that she was lying to herself about not caring about Sasuke. The truth of her confession of course can be questioned but the fact that she used it in such a way does not inherently mean that she was lying when she said she loved him.
I would myself argue that if anything her potential love for Naruto is what made her do it in the first place, like she said. We know she knows that chasing Sasuke causes him emotional harm and puts him into extremely dangerous situations. This along with the belief that Naruto was doing it for her and not his own reasons... well of course she's going to try and get him to stop chasing him if she also loves him.
