Rate The Latest Manga You've Read/Caught up on from 1-10

Kind of surprised that I couldn't find a thread solely for manga reviews/recommendation. Write down your thoughts on the latest manga you've read or caught up to and rate it from 1-10.

If you want to brag about a particular manga in general and feel compelled to tell others about it, go ahead (don't forget to give it a score)! Manhwas, manhuas, webcomic, webtoons, and who knows what else exists out there, can be mentioned in here, too

So its basically a boy who is a honour student who just finished middle school , who decided to add some exercise into his daily schedule , so he picks up tennis.

 

Protag is OCD who has excellent memory and vision.

 

8/10 - up to 200+ chapters now but scanlators are taking baby steps and is falling behind 50+ chapters , would have given more points if moar romance then again it is very satisfying romance wise.

 

Edit: I started reading this manga without 0% knowledge about tennis. :) you wont get lost in terminologies and jargons

What about the anime? Heard it's done by Studio Pierrot, but it's supposed to be pretty good.

It was pretty well made. I didnt even know it was done by Studio Perriot! LOL i actually watched the anime first D: lucky or i wouldnt have touched it if i knew.

Yeah, I read this tragic romance manga at 1:30 am in the morning. Reason why I checked it out was b/c it had such a high rating on MyAnimeList and b/c it was a relatively quick read (8 chapters total). Should have saved it for another time b/c this is depressing as hell (but also just as beautiful).

Prisoner Yuu and ex-pianist Juri Mutou are the protagonists of this series. The former was a three-time murderer and is waiting now for his death penalty with each passing day, while the latter attempted suicide three times and has long left behind her life as an acclaimed teen musician. Through her aunt who works as a nun and visits convicts to aid them emotionally, Juri meets Yuu. Their first meeting ended rather in a fiasco to say the least, but as week after week goes by, both come to the realization how much they resemble each other and that their roles could have been pretty much reversed if circumstances been different.

Don't get me wrong: I've read tons of tragic love stories about two broken people who meet each other and unintentionally begin to ail each other's wounds. So it's nothing new in its concept. But the portrayal of this slice of life series was so powerful, so raw that the emotional impact it had on me had me staying awake for an additional few hours after having finished it (it was about 3 am in the morning already...). To me, nothing's overdramatized. We get straight to the point, and the dialogue b/w the characters, while simple, effectively describe the emotional state they were in. Yuu and Juri's interaction were dorky and touching to read.

So yeah, highly recommend this manga for anyone who's looking out for a short read but nevertheless very powerful one. Yes, is sad, but it is also very hopeful and inspirational.

Lol, for once in a while Studio Pierrot does a good job! I might watch it. Heard the OTP is sailing strong in this show

Anyway, the latest one I've read issssssssssss- 

Princess Jellyfish! I give it a rating of 8/10! 

 

Plot: A young otaku girl lives in an apartment with other otakus and all equally hate the outside world. One day, she runs into a fashionable girl who wants to start her own fashion line. There's a catch: The fashionable girl is actually a boy!

 

Pros: Really funny story, love the humor. You'll end up loving the cast too, they're all enjoyable. The plot of the story is also very interesting, and most of the characters are really relatable. Bonus points for having such a diverse cast and character design. 

 

Cons: Some readers think that there's some homophobia/transphobia in the writing. I'd blame that on ignorance rather than straight hatred. Romance falls really flat, and that may be due to the male protagonist crossdressing all the time and the author not wanting to show romance between two "girls". Art doesn't always pull through, but there are some instances of really gorgeous panels!

I didn't really cry, but that's something that never has happened to me before with any piece of fiction

Ah, I remember this! I still need to check it out. Looks to be like such a sweet manga <3

Yeah. He's this super feminine boy who's in love with women's fashion so he dresses himself as a woman. It's a very sweet manga, I would even consider it a feel good manga compared to all the other depressing stories we've talked about.

A yuri manga with a lot of teasing 

 

The first few chapters and arcs were quite good but the current arc was kind of a letdown for me at least, thankfully it's over and a new one will begin

It's a monthly manga like AoT so the uptades take quite a while to come

 

The story is basically about Yuzu, who is your typical gyaru and has to move from her current city due to her mother's new marriage; turns out her new school is really strict and she ends up buttting heads with the student council president...who ends up also being her new step sister 

 

While the base for the story is kind of cliche with the whole student council business I was pleaseantly surprised by how the author managed to develop the main characters ( especially Yuzu) and introduce interesting situations within the story without it being forced, the development is also on point, nothing really feels rushed IMO so I give it a 8/10 for now a very good read and with only 16 chapters, it should be pretty easy to catch up

Mostly mangas you've just caught up on. I couldn't find one solely for your latest mangas (similar to this thread: http://www.narusaku....wtopic=7201&hl=) I mean, I don't mind manga recommendations in general, but if the mods think it's overlapping with another thread, I can just change the description ^_^

Are You Alice? -- 8/10

 

Genre: Shoujo, mystery, psychological, fantasy

 

Summary: After throwing away his dreams, a boy wanders into "Wonderland", is given the name "Alice", and is recruited into the "Game to Kill the White Rabbit". In a crazy story where common sense does not apply and everything is bound by the rules of the game and the orders of the Queen of Hearts, Alice decides to take a gun in his hands.

 

Okay, so, this is probably the weirdest, most confusing retelling of Alice in Wonderland that I've ever come across. I've read all current forty-four chapters and I still don't really have much of a clue what's going on, but I enjoyed it and I'm very interested to see where it goes. The art is beautiful and the plot, while bizarre and convoluted, seems to be going somewhere, though where I can't begin to guess.

Deadman Wonderland 10/10

Genres: Horror, Action, Sci-fi, Seinen, Shounen, Supernatural.

 

Well Neko-chan recommend this wonderful manga to me. It is about Ganta, who has been sent to a private prison for a crime he didn’t commit. There'll happen many things in the Prison. While Ganta himself will try to find the Red Man, who did the crime, people think Ganta committed. 

 

I pretty much loved this manga! It was intense, and I always needed to read the next few episodes before going somewhere. One thing I really like about this manga is that it has a Transgender, and a lot of different human begins. I really like all the characters, but a few of them are crazy…
I think I’ll watch the anime, but I know they cut somethings from the manga in the anime. I’ll watch it anyways.

 

 

Koe no Katachi (A silent voice) 9.5/10

Genres: Drama, School life, Shounen, Slice of life.

 

I started this series after watching MAL’s top one-shots, and this series’ one-shot was at the 1^st place. So of cause I went to read it. The story is about a young healthy girl named Nishimiya, the only problem she has is that she is deaf. She transfers into a school, but unfortunately, for Nishimiya she got bullied by her class and transferred out. Years later a guy from her old class Ishida finds Nishimiya, and wants to befriend her.

 

This manga made me cry so many times T_T. I’m pretty much in love with it.
Can’t wait for the movie >.<

Finally found this thread! I recently finished both A silent voice and Orange. While I like both of them very much especially in the beginning, I was very disappointed in both endings. I'm not a big fan of open endings. They left me with a bunch of unanswered questions and its really messing with me.

A silent voice- 7/10
Orange- 7.5/10

Sousei no Onmyouji 9/10. it's a bit confusing but pretty fun to read and the romance subplot is pretty cliche but sweet too. And believe me THERE IS a huge romance subplot only read up  to Chapter 15
