No.Do you guys think that Sasuke should have died at the end as a punishment for his crimes, or do you think he should have survived in order to repent?

He really did nasty things when he completely hadfallen into darkness, but die for that? No bro, if he dies there will be no Uchihas and all that talk about "a generation that will fix everything" will be still left nothing but talk. Even his traveling around the world JUST to redeem his sins sounds silly too if you ask me.

Death as punishment? Obito really got his when he kicked the bucket.

Well the difference between Obito's and Sasuke's case would be that Sasuke would probably have no loved ones to great him in the afterlife.

Not his dead family? Not Itachi?
Anyway, that's really besides the point. The point death is not a punishment in this series.

Considering how far gone Sasuke went by the ending of the series, I feel like it would've made the most sense. Yes that would go against Naruto's morals and the meaning behind the series so death in a way could work if we consider what Obito did for Kakashi.
Lets pretend The Kaguya fight was done a lot better, we got the reasons why she did everything, Obito still dies the same events occurred and dies to save Kakashi, but that the same time Sasuke takes a bullet for Naruto. It would've been more poetic because the rift between The Uchiha and Senju that went on for generations would come to an end, and in someways show redemption towards his character. I'm not saying yeah he should've died in the final fight against Naruto because that just wouldn't work with how the universe was set up. So from a narrative standpoint have Sasuke die, but let him sacrifice himself to save someone he considered his best friend.
THAT'S WHAT HEROES DO, THEY SAVE PEOPLE!!

As someone here said, regardless of what you think of Sasuke...and Sasuke itself, Naruto would have failed and all the manga would have been pointless

The problem is kishi want naru vs sasu as the last battle of this manga.
And he will not sacrifice himself unless he killed konoha people just like pain or to kill final villain.
@unbunt
Yeah, sasuke really took naruto position as protagonist :-/

I will just get what I said in another thread
But seriously, Sasuke shouldn't die as it would further kill one of the story themes, that would be Naruto surpassing his mastersThough even with that said, if KIshi was a good writer I can see how he could work up Sasuke's death as some kind of redemption for the sins he comitted with him entrusting the last of his goals into NarutoWhat happened in the manga however was indeed bad even for his character his redemption and future goals should have been handled in a better manner, what they did to him was a disservice.Sasuke's last goal was solid and made sense, as much as his methods were wrong, the shinobi world was rotten and was the cause of misery for a lot of people and a change was needed, of course at the same time Kishi also needed to convey to the readers that Sasuke really felt sorry for his actions earlier in the story (in which he failed).I think the ideal ending for Sasuke would be him working together with Naruto to bring foward a new era, romance was never an aspect of his character so it shouldn't really be important.
In short I don't think he should have died but I could understadn it happening as some kind of big redemption from his part.
What happened in canon was bad because his redemption was kind of half assed and his goals were just discarded and forgotten

Perhaps if his redemption was in the form of death, sure. Parting words with his teammates and share a wish that Naruto would live and bring peace; to which Naruto would become hokage and try to bring his and Sasuke's dream to life. (too bad that didn't happen and sasuke still lived) But that might be the closest thing to a decent ending with Sasuke's death. Anything else and Naruto's effort would have been a waste.

Sasuke made this manga much more unbearable for me to read, especially in the chapters that focus was on him.
