I watched the anime of The Devil is a Part Timer and really enjoyed it! (Season 2 please!!!!) It was surprisingly refreshing and really cheered me up after the whole Naruto conclusion disappointment. The thing that drew me in was the humor. The situational comedy is awesome. The characters are interesting, and the action is good too, although there isn't a lot of it. So, me being me, I became curious and checked out if there is more to the story. There is a manga that has released that is currently at the point where the anime left off. However, the light novels go far beyond. I have rooted around for as much information as I can find, and I can honestly say that this story just keeps getting better and better. The second season, if they animate it, will surpass the first in humor and heartfelt story beats. The Emi and Maou dynamic has tremendous potential (for many reasons yet to be revealed)... I swore my shipping days were over... grah!!! I'm dying to discuss the story and it's potential further. Has anyone else here read the light novels? I have some theories about where things are going that I would like to share.

I've only seen the anime, and mostly really enjoyed it. The dub of it is very good too, well acted and well written. A season 2 would be wonderful.

I've seen a good bit of it, and I love the cast. The dialogue can be funny for sure too, like Emi getting annoyed at Chiho's boobs being so big.
"Damn, those're huge!!"
"What're huge?"
"NOTHING, PERVERT, I SAID NOTHING!!!"

My husband and I both loved the anime. Him so much that he used the first episode as part of a media studies assignment for his educational psychology class. (He deliberately picked something sure to take his students out of their comfort zones.)
I would love a second season, too. I will have to check out the light novels.
Read my stuff! Some of the stories are even finished! Catwho on Fanfiction.net

In my research, I found out that the light novels have been licensed and will begin English releases in April! The first two volumes will cover the anime to date. From there it will all be new. Just FYI the Japanese release of volume 12 is set for February. A lot more story to come. A big plus for the light novel releases is that the anime established the characters so well that I will have no problem visualizing them when reading.
My favorite line from the anime is when Emi and Maou are at the police station and the officer interviewing them thinks that they were having a lover's quarrel.
Officer: "Why were you two fighting in the street?"
Emi points at Maou saying: "Because I must destroy him."
That's what got me hooked. I love it!!!

I watched this the first time it came out in JP. Later watched Eng dub. It's sooooo good! Maou and Emi are just so good.
Does anyone know if there is going to be season 2?

In another dimension, the Dark Lord Satan and his forces of evil are defeated by the Hero Emilia Justina. Satan and his Demon general Alciel are forced to flee through a portal which drops them off in modern day Japan. With their magic slowly depleting in an unfamiliar world, they are forced to assume the lives of normal human beings in order to survive. The Hero Emilia Justina follows them through the portal and she too is met with the same circumstances. Although Emilia still harbors negative feelings towards Satan for his past acts of evil, they become unlikely allies in order to survive.
Do you prefer MgRonald's or Sentucky Fried Chicken?
Seriously though, I'm dying for a season 2. The animated version of volume 3, previewed below, would be too great for words.

I was dissapointed to hear that the LN for this series was licenced by Yen Press, so any translation project was put to a halt, which is a shame considering the translation project had only really just started and Yen don't release all their Novels in the UK

If anyone want to read V3, though it will likely be taken down in april when the official LN's are released. I just hope Yen release the LN's in the UK as well, even if only in Digital format. The series really impressed me, and is the first anime I recommend, to anyone looking to start watching animes, the addition in Volume 3 impressed me even further, you don't see any mainstream media from Japan aimed at boys taking this route ever, specially one done so tastefully done...it's also why I wouldn't be surprised if this doesn't get a second season for that exact reason.

Got hooked up with this anime so damn much. There's so much room for improvement in both art and writing districts'; it's marvelous!
One thing annoyed me a bit over the line, though and that's how Chiho constantly bothers Maou. Honestly, what'd you expect from an Overlord? I get it, it's for the funsies n stuff but get it to a minimum unless you can provide some background for given action "love" and do something with that on both's behalf while you're at it, too. Love interests in anime are so sad and thirsty...

I actually found Chiho's charactor really refreshing, the fact she had the guts to confess to Maou was something you hardly ever see in animes, and she is being pro-active. Her reasons for caring for Maou have been explained or atleast hinted heavily already, Maou pretty much took her under his wing when she started working their, and dispite the mistakes she made was patient and helpful to her. So she fell in love with that reliable Maou.
Chiho does grow as a charactor, though she unfortunitely stands no chance against Emi.

I read that a second season has been confirmed by the creator. Has anyone seen any news about this one? I have read the light novels, and season 2 could be amazing. I like the contrast of the everyday life versus the mystical fantasy elements of the show.
