In a fantasy world, fighter Tatsumi sets out for the Capitol to earn money for his starving village, and finds a world of unimaginable corruption, all spreading from the depraved Prime Minister who controls the child Emperor's ear. After nearly becoming a victim of this corruption himself, Tatsumi is recruited by Night Raid, a group of assassins dedicated to eliminating the corruption plaguing the Capitol by mercilessly killing those responsible.

I like the manga. It definitely is a lot darker than I was ready for when I stumbled upon it. Especially later on. I'll give the anime a watch for sure. But it's time to do work.

Phantom@ I can't put spoiler tags because I'm using my PS3 and its completely different than using a PC. I'll be as cryptic as I can.
Are you refering at the fact that the author made a pairing canon (which it was the most obvious one, at least to me) and everyone is p*ssed because he might kill a certain character so he can then force another pairing withoout development leaving the fans with WTF expressions??? I hate to think that way but judging the kind of story that is Akame ga kill, I think the author will take that route. This is a dark series fill with many tragedies (anyone can die with exception of the lead male and female). I only hope Takehiro reflects upon his choice and doesn't kill off the current canon pairing, honestly I love the pairing and I think its cute.

Night Raid should get a new member whose a medic. If a member gets wounded its pretty much over. Also about the last chapter I can see Tatsumi making it out alive from that place because of a certain someone but for Lubbock I really hope I'm wrong.
