So, if the TnJ works it seems like I wasn't totally wrong that the important lies on who Rin was and what she would think of Obito's current actions.

Rin's promise is almost identical to Sakura's promise that they'll bring back Sasuke together and it seems to put Sakura's role in this war into words, summarizes Sakura desire to take care of Naruto, watch over him, make sure that he doesn't over-exert himself.  I honestly hope that this is as far as the parallel is "confirmed."

Oh well.. This chapter reminded me of the conversation Naruto had with Konohamaru in the early chapter 2 where there were no short cuts in becoming hokage or in life , that's nice .Finally Obito is rethinking about what he has done to everybody , but i still think he won't give in that easily. There is too much going on , if that is Naruto doesn't mention Sakura Obito will continue with his folly in dragging the whole world in dream land , next chapter's gonna be a blast ! Rin wanted to support Obito's dream just like Sakura did in the chuunin exams , the Obi/Rin is coming...

The ethical conflict resumes. Tobi just admitted that he was personally challenging Naruto to see if he would abandon his "nindo". It's ironic how Naruto argues that there is no "shortcuts" to becoming Hokage, yet all of the individuals that have obtained the position were somehow connected to the Senju or those who basked in their philosophy. The position of Hokage is attained through democratic selection. Almost all of the population seems to be highly supportive of the Senju. Meaning that to actually procure the position, you would need to embrace the mentality and beliefs of said clan.

 

That aside, the imposing context which Naruto began to address Tobi in at the end of the chapter irked me. He's beginning to speak as if his mantra is the only one that can see true prosperity or happiness. Naruto comes across almost similarly to how Tobi was decreeing his rhetoric about everyone coming to resent the world through tragedy. Tobi may have subconscious misgivings about the path he chose, but Naruto's imposition that he simply abandon everything and accept "who he truly he is" comes across as dogmatic almost. It disregards everything that he's done up until that point. The people who he's hurt and influenced, the crimes he's committed against all of the nations, the sentiments everyone may have to this conversion and this man simply returning to the ranks after he spearheaded the deaths of over 40,000 men and women throughout this war which he is personally responsible for. 

 

Interestingly enough, no Rin/Sakura parallel was confirmed this chapter.

The chapter was okay but there was nothing new, the parallel between Naruto and Obito is still going on, it's because they are similar that Obito wanted to break Naruto's determination. 

And again flashback of a flashback, I'm sure that we already saw this Rin flashback, there was just no dialogue last time. 

I wonder if Obito will join the good side next chapter, to be hones I would be really pissed of, because it would come so fast: 2 chapters and here Obito is a good boy... Really? But by seeing his face at the end of this chapter it seems to be the case.

Well...

As Morgaine said, this really capitalizes how Sakura wanted to share the burden that Naruto has when she promised to him that they would do this together. It also capitalizes for all the times Sakura has been worried and upset that Naruto has been over exerting himself much like how Rin got upset seeing Obito do the same and act like the injury did nothing to his body. A lot of people will say that Naruto saw a panel of Neji and Hinata and therefore Hinata is Naruto's Rin.. but in fact, it was just the panels where Obito invited Naruto out of the real world and followed up by Naruto inviting Obito into the real world.

I actually thought Rin's promise was for Obito to keep his word, which was different from Sakura's promise.

over this war, I'd be fine if it happened this fast.  But I won't be surprised if this is a bait and switch of some sort.  The thing is, there's still Madara to deal with and it would be interesting to see Tobi go up against him

Suprising to learn that Obito is a orphan as well. so he didn't kill his family coz of rin.. hmm..

Interesting chapter

I have to admit I was expecting a boring chapter thanks to the TnJ but it was pretty good. I like that Obito actually challenged Naruto's own nindo, but he wouldn't give up which is very much like Naruto and his speeches. I wonder how Obito will react to Naruto wanting him to comeback to their side and if Madara will spring his trap soon. I also got a lot of NaruSaku vibes from this chapter thanks to the promise Rin made to Obito. It almost feels like the one Sakura made to Naruto when they were younger.

The beginning of the end

There was really nothing pairing related, for us and for NH, even if I know that they are going to claim it was because og the hand holding, but it doen't matter, because Rin was in love with Kakashi while holding Obito's hand.

And @ morgaine4 : Don't worry, I can already see Obito being redeemed at the beginning of next chapter. So yes, we're at the beginning of the end of the war.
