I don't know if there's been a topic about this posted before or not but this question has got me thinking for a while so here goes nothing.

What exactly is the special ability of the Sarutobi Clan? Do you think they're just a clan with a big name due to the Third Hokage's famous father Sasuke Sarutobi and no special powers? Or do you think they have a special set of Secret Jutsu or some kind of Kekkei Genkai that hasn't been revealed in the story yet?

I'd like to hear what you guys think.

I don't think we've got anything definitive; we might have some things from which to base some conjecture, though.

It would make sense if the Sarutobi clan were the holders of the monkey\ape summoning scrolls (especially given what the name "Sarutobi" means and its place in Japanese folklore); the only person we've seen summon any ape-like creatures so far, though, is the Sandaime.

We know Asuma was a wind user; doesn't tell us much, considering how uncommon wind-users were, but his use of wind through the trench knives appear to be 'special.' They could be a Sarutobi-clan artifact.

We know they master a LOT of techniques; they may have some 'learn techniques uncommonly fast' ability that hasn't been identified yet.

And, well, there might be more. But I can't think of anything specific that has been attributed uniquely to their clan.

You haven't experienced the full cofusion of modern gender relations until you've heard an angry group of women yelling, "We want tentacles!" at an all-night Hentai-fest.

Sarutobi clan i thought was one of the founding clans decendents.

The sumining contract the Third Hokage used possibly.

Hmmm... I guess they're just an elite clan? huh.gif
Also, from the latest chapters of NARUTO you can tell that Sarutobi clan has some connection to Yamanaka-Nara-Akimichi (look for chapter 533).

I think that's pretty close. I think the Sarutobi may not have special abilities, but they are well-known for their natural talent in learning techniques uncommonly fast. In a way, they might be respected for their wide range of knowledge regarding Ninjutsu. Perhaps they might be a special clan that takes care of every last bit of secrets (including secret Jutsus) that Konoha has. Basically an archive-keeping clan. I think an ancestor of theirs managed to analyze the Secret clan jutsus in Konoha and know how to do those secret jutsus (such as shadow bindings) but out of respect, they forbade their clan members to use and teach those jutsus to someone outside those special clans. (Ino-Shika-Cho clan) Which is why I think they have a pretty good influence in Konoha.
