I'd like to try reading fanfiction from other fandoms, so can anyone link me to some good fics?

A lot of categories on FFnet have mind-bogglingly large numbers of fics that are really difficult to sort through, so some recommendations would help a lot. Bleach, Kingdom Hearts, Code Geass, Gundam, Fruits Basket, Final Fantasy, Harry Potter, Zelda, NGE, Cardcaptor Sakura, Ranma, Love Hina, 1st season Digimon, Sailor Moon, the kitchen sink, and whatever else you'd like to share with me. Crossovers are fine too, I guess.

As for ships... whatever works, as long as it's not yaoi/BL. I'm sort of partial to IchiHime and CloTi though

I kind of want to try writing fics for Bleach, Kingdom Hearts, and FF VII/X too... since the fact that all the Naruto stuff I write lately has been really terrible probably means that I'm still in my burnt-out phase and need a bit more recovery time before I try writing Naruto again sweatdrop.gif

Ah a Digimon fan like myself. Cool.

So here are some pretty decent, (complete since I know you like those) Taiora fics

Somewhere I Belong Personally my favorite. Isn't too long or complicated and it's less action oriented than anything else I've read.

Genesis This one is an interesting take on things. Grammar is decent though there are some issues, but it's not so bad that it's unreadable. Long for 10 chapters, and it's fairly descriptive, which is the opposite on how I write.

When Adventure Ends I actually used this story for the basis of my theater final project. It's a beautiful one-shot that I just had to get through. Little on the angsty side, but nothing about suicide or stuff.

And then there always my Digimon fics that you can read.

The Dimensional Paths, which is only in its first chapter

And Tai's Eternal Struggle, which is my first fic I ever wrote, but it's pretty popular for a Digimon fic. I'm sure though you've been to my profile and at least seen these though.

I'll give some of those fics a shot, thanks for the recs, OmegaMan. Btw, can you recommend any Koushirou/Mimi fics too?

as for being a digimon fan... lol, the reason I'm called "digifruit" is because I got my start writing fanfiction for Digimon (and Eva too, but that's unrelated to my name). That was ten years ago though, when I was still genin-age, so I don't actually remember any of the fics I read back then nor do I know my way around the Digimon or Eva fanfiction libraries anymore

I can't. I'm sure if I looked I could find something, but it's not a pairing I support (not that I don't support it either) so I don't tend to look for it. I'm sorry that I couldn't be any more help.

Um... okay, here goes. I'm only posting things which are complete (or at least, have reached a reasonably good ending) or are actively posting, and that I can still find copies of on the internet doing a quick google search (without those three caveats, it's be a MUCH longer list; heck, almost everything I wanted to link to turned out to either not have had a new chapter posted since 2001 despite being unfinished (and you thought I was taking a long time with Training for the Job!) or to no longer be on the internet (I thought everything posted on the internet STAYED on the internet, but this exercise proved me wrong):

The Jealousy Series, by Debbie Kluge (Real Adventures of Jonny Quest fanfiction, though honestly you don't need to have seen the original series to enjoy it). Mainline story (because there are some side pieces that can distract) begins with Jealousy (the first one is a little weak; don't let that put you off. She REALLY improves before the end) and moves on to The Return of Francesca, Summer Camp, On the Edge of Madness, Battlefield, Firezone, Growing Pains I: Choices, Sipahigiri, Growing Pains III: The Spirit of Christmas... and while there are a couple stories after that or side to it, I'd stop it there. The author was starting to set up one last culminating story, but then dropped off the face of the Earth, and that's the most satisfying end you're likely to get unless she returns.

Ranma Goes to War\Once More Into the Breach\Chasing the Wind, an Epic (form) Ranma trilogy by J. Austin Wilde. The only still-existing copies I know of are in the old usenet archives for Rec.Arts.Anime.Creative, but the three links above have permalinks to these RAAC entries on them.

Taming of the Horse by Vince Seifert. Ranma fanfic, light romantic comedy variety. It has a sequel that looks like it will never be finished, but most of the stories in that sequel can stand on their own as well.

Turning the Wheel by Alan Harnum. Ranma fanfic, suspense\horror variety. Great writer, but I can't recommend his other works -- he (admittedly) tends to start plot points that don't go anywhere, and I can't say I like how most of the other things he wrote turned out. I don't necessarily want a happy ending (generally prefer not to be depressed by the endings I read, but that's a personal preference), but I want to actually SEE an ending, and not have (as in his other major Ranma project, Waters Under Earth) the end of the final chapter be "Finally, we have the people on hand for the climactic conclusion to begin! When's the next chapter? Wait, it's... an epilog? And it barely HINTS at what we've read half a million words building up to? You mean... it's OVER? AAAAARGH!"

If I were willing to add unfinished fics I didn't think would ever be complete, I could probably add another fifty or so, here, but... well, gotta draw the line somewhere. (not to mention it's been a long, long time since I read most of the fics I might otherwise recommend; if I re-read everything in my archives, I could probably expand that list a lot, but... well, that's too much work for this little list, and those other fics I'm not willing to trust my memory on. It's been a long, long time since I read these fics, too, but I trust my memory on them enough to recommend them)

You haven't experienced the full cofusion of modern gender relations until you've heard an angry group of women yelling, "We want tentacles!" at an all-night Hentai-fest.

I can recommend a few authors that have several FFVII fics that are cloti and a good read.

I say anything by kitsune13, Sekihara Tae, Fairheartstrife or Horky just to name a few. There are probably several others, but those are the only ones I can think of off the top of my head.

I should also pitch my husband's fics, but he hasn't written anything that's strictly cloti (but it is if you squint really, really hard). tongue.gif

End of line.

Here is an old story when I first started reading fanfiction. Its for One Piece and is a LuNa pairing. A small lemony scene but well written. Story premise is the end of Luffy's reign as the Pirate King. Its a oneshot, its one of my all time favs.

Here are a couple for Love Hina:

Steel Rose My favorite Love Hina fanfic. KeiMoto. Randoml337 is an excellent author with good fics in a number of fandoms. He's even won our NaruSaku fan contest at least once.

Ships in the Night KeiTsu. Lotsa drama, but pretty good overall.

Avatar: The Last Airbender

Morality Chain A "what if" in which Azula and Zuko have a good relationship. Told primarily from Azula's POV. Excellent fic.

Ranma Fanfiction:

Relentless An excelent horror/adventure fic. Happosai draws the wrath of an spirit of vengeance, but he manages goading it in chasing Ranma. Pairings are Ranma/Akane and Ryoga/Ukyo.

The More Things Change and its sequel The Pursuit of Happiness . Ranma chosses Akane, permanently upsetting the balance of power and love poligons in Nerima. Unknowingly, Ryoga gets burdened with the responsibility of luring and unleash chaos in Nerima, meeting he has inherited all troubles Ranma had. Oh, and he isn't falling in with Ukyo. Not at all.

It is a very funny history. Sadly, the sequel is unfinished.

Daigakusei no Ranma/Daigakusei no Ukyo. Ranma and Akane are finally forced to get married and learn to get along well as they attend college. It is a continuation fic, very funny. However it is written in script format, and it is unfinished.

Girl Days. Nodoka decides she isn't worried about her son's manhood... but "his" womanhood needs training. Incredibly hilarious and loony.

Sadly, it is also unfinished.

Ranma: Hearts of Ice. Despaired and hopeless, Cologne and Shampoo try sending Akane away to the Kami Plane, where all Japanese deities live, in order to get rid of her. A multi-chapter, epic tale of love, adventure, myth and betrayal. And it is FINISHED! Hooray!

I'll Met by Starlight. This fic is enough drak and must be read with caution. What if something went awfully wrong when Genma was training Ranma, and instead of becoming a somewhat rude and jerkish but nice guy, Ranma became the bad guy?

Pokemon:

Pokemon Master. The first dark Pokemon fic, and one of the best Pokemon fics. Ten years in the future, the Pokemon world has completely changed. Team Rocket unsealed a forbidden power in order to take over the world, and in the process they nearly wrecked the world. Humans have gained elemental powers and the Pokemon League, led by Gary Oak, tyranically rules over Kanto. Only a handful of rebels oppose to its power, but they are being defeated. Misty set to find Ash and force him to join the Rebellion in order to save the world. Together, they must deal with elemental powers, forbidden pokemon... and the rekindling of their relationship.

Beautifully written, full with mysteries, drama, romance and action, it still stands like one of the best fanfiction I have read. And it is complete. However, the author began writing it before Pokemon Gold and Silver were released, and before the Johto seasons were aired, so the fanfiction only uses characters and pokemon of the first games and seasons of the show (pretty funny, he anticipated Nintendo, creating shadow pokemon before dark pokemon showed up in the games themselves).

BadgeQuest and the sequel The Hidden Machine Saga. Ash decides earning every badge on the world. In the way, he must deal with Team Rocket... and a certain prophecy involving legendary pokemon and demons. A good adventure fic. Sadly, the author was going to write a third part in order to close the history properly, but it never was done.

Pokemon Destiny by Nova (you will ahve to scroll down to find it). In an alternate world where Misty never joined Ash during his travels, Giovanni sends his best soldiers to find and capture a legendary Pokemon. In reply, Professor Oak assembles a team formed by Ash, Misty, Brock, Gary and Giselle in order to stop him.

It is a good adventure fic, but it is unfinished. The address I have given is the only place where it can be read (as far as I know).

Kimagure Orange Road:

Kimagure Orange College. A sequel to the anime show. After the love triangle between them and Hikaru was ruthlessly broken up, Kyosuke and Madoka must go on with their lives, attending college. A romance fic, written like a screenplay.

Slayers:

Slayers Trilogy. This is The Best Slayers fic. Period. No other ever comes close. The shattering of a magical mirror sends Lina and her friends to an apparently routinely jaunt for a replacement. What apparently was another usual adventure quickly becomes a long, epic quest with the fate of two worlds in stake. And that is only the first part! Highly recommendable.

Zelda:

Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. An Ocarina of Time novelization, and one of the best Zelda fics. Sadly, it is unfinished (and it practically gives fanservice by all shippings in that game).

Final Fantasy:

Final Fantasy VI The Novel. An excellent novelization for one of the best FF games (the best, IMO).

Evangelion:

Evangelion: The Second Try. An excellent time-travelling fic. After the Third Impact, Shinji and Asuka are forced to survive by working together, maturing and falling in love in the process. However, one day, they wake up and discover somehow they have traveled back in the time, right before the battle against the Twelveth Angel. They decide trying and preventing the end of the world this time. However, that second chance demanded a prize neither of them was willing to pay...

The One I Love is... During a test, Rei realizes her feelings for Shinji... and she realizes Shinji and Asuka are very close. And she doesn't like that. Rei starts wooing Shinji, prompting Asuka to drop her self-denial act and trying winning him over. All of sudden, Shinji finds himself forced to choose between two girls he feels strong feelings towards, and growing up as the battles for the fate of the world go on.

Shinji Just Snaps and Totally Wales on Everything. What the title says. Shinji/Asuka humor fic.

Super Robot Wars:

Super Robot Wars Omega. Fic based on the long-running video game franchise (a multi-crossover between dozens of mecha shows including Mazinger, Gundam, Evangelion, Getter Robo, Macross...). It is the Neo Space Century 298 year, and war threatens with breaking off again, restarting the cycle of violence and destruction. Several heroes must band together again in order to save the humankind.

It is a good action/drama story, but it is sadly dead.

Have you ever read Tolkien works? If you are interested, you can check this fanfiction:

The Leithian Script. A screenplay version of one of the main stories of the Middle-Earth legendarium, the tale of Beren and Luthien. A very entertaining, hilarious and moving story, with very well developed characters, and excellently fleshed out.

A True Story

A teenage girl about 17 named Diane had gone to visit some friends one evening and time passed quickly as each shared their various experiences of the past year. She ended up staying longer than planned, and had to walk home alone. She wasn't afraid because it was a small town and she lived only a few blocks away.

As she walked along under the tall elm trees, Diane asked God to keep her safe from harm and danger. When she reached the alley, which was a short cut to her house, she decided to take it. However, halfway down the alley she noticed a man standing at the end as though he were waiting for her. She became uneasy and began to pray, asking for God's protection. Instantly a comforting feeling of quietness and security wrapped round her, she felt as though someone was walking with her. When she reached the end of the alley, she walked right past the man and arrived home safely.

The following day, she read in the newspaper that a young girl had been raped in the same alley just twenty minutes after she had been there. Feeling overwhelmed by this tragedy and the fact that it could have been her, she began to weep. Thanking the Lord for her safety and to help this young woman, she decided to go to the police station. She felt she could recognize the man, so she told them her story. The police asked her if she would be willing to look at a lineup to see if she could identify him. She agreed and immediately pointed out the man she had seen in the alley the night before. When the man was told he had been identified, he immediately broke down and confessed. The officer thanked Diane for her bravery and asked if there was anything they could do for her. She asked if they would ask the man one question. Diane was curious as to why he had not attacked her. When the policeman asked him, he answered, "Because she wasn't alone. She had two tall men walking on either side of her." Amazingly, whether you believe or not, you're never alone. Did you know that 98 percent of teenagers will not stand up for God, and 93 percent of the people that read this won’t repost it?

Heart of Ice was FINALLY finished? I gave up on that one after a decade went by without a single update!

(also pleased to see a new link to Kimagure Orange College, which I thought died when their website went down. I see they've added three chapters in the six years its been since I last saw it)

I'd have recommended several of the Ranma fics in your list, Jenskott (including TMTC\TPoH, DnR, and Girl Days) except they were unfinished and looked to be staying that way. Kenko (author of Girl Days) had some other fanfics (and wrote a small unposted-anywhere-outside-of-an-IRC-chatroom side-story to Taming of the Horse) worth looking at, too, but they're all also unfinished (in some cases, unposted anywhere I can link to) and sadly almost certain to stay that way.

It boogles the mind, right? I checked Krista's site back in 2009 -several years after my last check- because I was bored and I was checking old links... when I found out it had been updated one month before!

Anyhow, glad of being helpful about Hearts of Ice and Kimagure Orange College. I also regret it is unfinished right now. It is one of the few decent KOR English fics. Besides yours, of course. And most of the KOR fics in FF.Net are badly-written trash (particularly I don't enjoy how they turn Akane -Kyosuke's cousin- in a yandere and a man-hating lesbian cliché).

Sadly, I am afraid neither of those fics will be concluded sometime soon. And it is regretful Kenko hasn't written anymore. I enjoyed his Ranma/Sailor Moon crossover Paragon.

Kenko has posted new material in the past year, though said fic (the Ranma\Sailor Moon crossover "Crossing Moon") is something I know (through a certain IRC where both of us USED to be active... about 8 years ago) he's had partially written for a LONG time. The fact that he's posted has me hoping there's a chance he might resume... something, someday, but... *shrug*

I can see why fanfic writers might make (KOR's) Akane a lesbian -- even though I know she wasn't really supposed to be one in canon -- but a man-hating one? *shakes head* Sad.

My own KOR fic is dead, and probably will be removed when I go through and edit my ff.net account. I've come to the conclusion I had too many fics that I was working on with too much real life getting involved, and it was time to drop the illusion I would be able to finish all of them. Not to mention I lost most of my notes on that fic when I moved to a new house... 8 years ago. I'd always hoped to reconstruct them, but I've come to the conclusion I just don't have the time.

I think Naruto: Training for the Job, Voltron: The Alliance is Dead, and Patlabor: Personal Files are the only ongoing fanfics I'm likely to complete (which is a real shame, especially about the Irresponsible Captain Tylor fanfic I was working on -- it felt like it could become something on that magnitude). I do have some thought in mind of posting some unfinished fanfics (including a "new" Naruto fanfic I recently started as a Part 1 rewrite and have yet to post anywhere) and saying -- both for those still unposted and the ones already posted that aren't finished -- "okay, this is what I've done in these. I'm not likely to go any further on them. Anyone want to finish them? I'll send over any notes I still have if you do!" There are many a fanfic writer who I wish had agreed to do something similar after abandoning their fanfics.

Here's a Ranma one I enjoyed.

The Plan It has both and Ranma/Akane and Ramna/Nabiki endings. It appears that the Ranma/Akane was the original ending. Either version is good.

For those who loved Sonic the Hedgehog:

The Cycle of Ages: A Chosen One by Cap'n Chryssalid is one story that is very well-written in this fandom. Based on the Archie Sonic Universe (Comic Book, not the games) and the spotlight is on Miles "Tails" Prower on his status as the Chosen One. This version is 2.0 because it was rewritten to add current characters and story elements.

Also 1.0's sequel: The Cycle of Ages: New World Order

Think that's the case with fanfics about every pairing depends greatly of the author's skills and the context of the story.

Seeing that I have been reading so many fics that aren't in the Naruto Fandom I decided to share:

From the ultra rare manga Aqua/Aria:

Acqua e Cielo: Water and Sky by Gentle Breezes AkasukiAkari fic dedicated to their relationship, and marriage, cause we all know that they'd totally get married.

From Ouran Highschool Host Club:

The Game by Ailia Sparrowhawk Kyoya-centric. Mentions of child abuse.

From Batman:

Who, What, When, Where, Why and How by DCLuder Just Bat-family lulz in which Richard can't keep his mouth shut, Cass decides to do something about it.

From Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann:

Of Graves and Tears KaminaYoko Comfort.

From Young Justice (the cartoon not the comic):

Proof in the Parenting by Takebuo Ishimatsu I am such a huge sucker for Daddy!Bruce.

From Kingdom Hearts:

The Mark by metalchocobo13 Its's a TerraAqua and takes place before Birth by Sleep.

Lies and Butterflies by Alacquiene Another TerraAqua fic. AU.

Saying I Will by DameM

Series: Bleach

Pairings: IchiRuki & IshiHime (not recommended for you, Soupy no.gif )

Summary: To return Ichigo to his "Substitute Shinigami" status, Rukia is assigned to stay by his side, even to the point of going to college. And it
all starts in the typical Ichigo/Rukia reunion fashion- at Ichigo's expense.

Note: This was written before/during the Fullbring arc in the manga, so it doesn't go in line with canon. However, it does fit in some canon elements whenever the author deems it possible.

Warning: this story will give you a severe case of Archive Panic as it is

78 chapters long and counting

I'd like to point you to my own personal ff.net account: shadow uzumaki I only have 3 crappy written fanfics, so ignore those, but I do have plenty of Favorites from Harry Potter, FFVII, Evangelion, and other fandoms. Quite a bit more on my alerts that I need to transfer.

I'd like to mention to you MissAnthropic's HarryxHermione brilliantly written Vox Corporis.

As well as these HP authors: Seel'vor, chem prof, canoncansodoff, and the hilarious one shots of Rorschach's Blot. All of these writers are HarryxHermione authors who sometimes venture off to HarryxLuna, particularly some of Rorschach's Blot's one shots. His are hilarious anyway.

For NGE: there's Gregg Landsman's epic and wacky Nobody Dies and Charles Bhepin's equally epic but a bit more serious Shinji and Warhammer40K. Both are troperific.

There's also gunman's various Shinji crossovers that he really needs to finish, but they're good for a read.
