So, second chance, huh? *Nods head in agreement* That's very generous. Now it's up to all of us to ensure that these types of measures don't need to be taken again.
I believe we can make this type of thing a non-issue without having to adopt a "constant fear of the mods" attitude. I'm sure that gets tiring to the members as well as the mods. I believe all it really calls for is a bit of behavioral adjustment. Of course, that sort of thing starts with yourself.
That said, here's what I'm going to do, and I suggest that anyone with the foresight to do the same follow suit. I'm at peace with the fact that not everyone is going to like me or what I have to say. Basic fact of life. So if I am talking with a person and I see that the convo is taking a turn for the worse, I'm no longer going to wait for a mod to tell us to stop, I'm no longer going to retort until it becomes a problem. I'm just going to end the conversation. "Stop right there, This conversation is over, I'm going to stop before this becomes a fight", etc. It takes two people to fight in LC, so be your own moderator. I'm not asking anyone to back down, relent, apologize, or even hit ignore, because I don't feel ignoring is necessary, and I don't relent, back down, or apologize when I feel I have nothing to apologize for.
So I won't ask or expect anyone else to, either. Wouldn't be fair of me. I'll just ask that if you see yourself about to fight, just drop the subject, and walk away. In retrospect, the couple of fights I've been in probably could have been avoided or curtailed if I had done so then. If any of you who were fighting think on it, I'm sure you'll realize the same.

You know, to avoid a lot of arguments, the best question is to ask "why do you think that way?"
It's best to ask that question so you have a little insight on why the person thinks that way; otherwise you're just arguing on baseless assumptions.

Silent Shinobi, you make an excellent point with that idea. I doubt I could have said it any better. To ensure LC stays around for a while, we each all need to keep an eye on what we say and do to prevent the arising of any trolls or flamers, even if its only a temporary transformation.
Legosu, its nice to be thought that I could be in such a position. Perhaps, someday, but today I doubt it.
