We recently had an incident take place in the chatroom involving several members taking place in a very explicit and very inappropriate conversation, that was in clear violation of forum rules, such to the extent that there is universal agreement regarding the temporary closure of the chat.

At the moment, my fellow mods and I are debating where we want to go from here, until then the chat will remain closed.

This is also to serve as a warning that we will not tolerate that such behavior. Period.

This closure is temporary, however I do not know when the chat room will be reopened.

A question, is it not possible for you guys to put filters for entire words in the chat?

Like, if I wanted to filter "bob," it would only filter out "bob." Meaning that I could still use words like "bobcat" only for the sake of not being screwed over by the filter system; for instance, words like "assassination" wouldn't be filtered out because it contains a certain word in it.

We can and words have already been added, but none since the incident. However, the problems weren't merely the vocabulary, but the entire topic and there are lots of euphemisms.

The other issue is words filters are extremely easy to dodge. Such that if I were to use my name in the filter there are a whole host of other ways to write it to pass it. It's impossible to cover every possibility that it would actually be effective.

Too say the least, I'm deeply disappointed and ashamed at all that took place in the situation that happened this past Sunday.

So, yes, the LC is temporarily closed. New update, but not confirmed, is that we have decided to re-open it later this week, though we are still discussing on how long the LC is to be closed off to H&E.

Sadly to say, with the actions of a few irresponsible and immature members, the entire site has to pay the consequences.

All of us (the Admins and the Mods) are deeply, deeply disappointed in the completely inappropiate behaviour that took place in LC this past weekend. The offenders knew better, and yet they still chose to act in a way that was both against the site rules, and just against most rules in general. As a result LC is closed...again. And once again it's future has been put in jeopardy by the actions of a few inconsiderate members. Those members will be dealt with severely. As to the rest of you, LC will remain closed and off-limits, until we once again come to a final decision about it's continued existence at this site.

I agree with krazy. The admins/mods must've had a very good reason to shut down the chat so I wouldn't pester them that much. And like krazy says, there's always IMs other than LC.

Quality control is always hard on open websites. A previous forum I used to visit frequently (TWL) always had problems like this. They have viciously strict rules to.
