~ A Community-Driven Project

The best part about any story is the community - the fandom that is born from it.

Without that sense of community, reading becomes a passive experience. Kings & Queens hopes to rectify that. I've spent the past year designing a system that will be a part of this story for the foreseeable future. A part that was inspired by the love of stories and worlds so grand that even after the original author is done with them, they continue to evolve and grow. That's what I want. Which is why, I've decided to start the search here. A community that I've known for a long time.

So here's the plan: A main story. And in the process of this story's progress, I will bring on guest writers, dedicated writers who will create characters. These characters will be a plethora of varieties. Some will interact with the main plot. Some will not. All of them will help build the world that I've started.

Right now, I have one confirmed writer:

Heartsbattle

I hope that my tenure here will draw even more. If you're interested send me a PM.

~ The Story

Solis - a nation of great military and economic prowess. Those who live here are luckier than anyone else in the world. And even then, some are luckier than others. Underneath the Capital lies the Orb, an artifact as old as the nation itself. Those who are born near it are often granted abilities of supernatural origin. And those who are born with supernatural abilities use those gifts in service to the Sinclair Dynasty, a royal family stretching back several centuries always led by a powerful queen. It is through devotion from her loyal subjects that have allowed the nation to become the juggernaut that it is.

The year is 252 ATP.

#659817 Fan-fic writers and readers how do you feel about NaruSaku "affair" f...

Posted by Greed-Sama on 13 November 2014 - 05:37 PM

For writers, everything has been done under the sun. Every story. Every trope. Every character. They have all been written into oblivion. An affair could be creatively lazy, but it doesn't have to be. It depends on one matter - execution. Like Nate said, writer bias will probably play a role. A NaruSaku shipper will more than likely do characters injustice. They might spin the web to try and justify that the affair is correct without fault to Naruto or Sakura; however, in the right hands that doesn't have to be the case. But it will more than likely be the case.

The challenge in writing comes from being emotionally involved with your characters and not being emotionally involved at the same time. It sounds oxymoronic but it isn't, I promise. An author has to understand the psyche of their character while also being able to make plot choices based on the good of the story, not the good of the character. I can't tell you how many times I have been given a story meant to be dark in some fashion, only for the author to have gotten so attached to their character that they abandon the story's integrity for the perfect ending with all loose ends tied up, etc.

How about we make a Manga and get NaruHina fans way into like how we was with NaruSaku but forehadowing NaruHina style but in the end. NaruSaku turn event.

I'll take the blame for it.

Great plan. I love it. But why stop there? We can do more. We can go beyond. We need to create a NS shadow organization dedicated to the removal of NH throughout history.

#645061 Realistically...

Posted by Greed-Sama on 06 November 2014 - 03:03 PM

People are hurt. Understandable. The manga and mangaka let a group of his fans down for reasons that we may never know. Sure, we can speculate that there were outside influences (e.g. editor, fans), but there always exists the possibility that Kishimoto thought that the ending he had envisioned from the start didn't quite match-up with the ending he decided upon after all was said and done.

For whatever reason, Chapter 699 is the end. 700 and the movie will officially close the series, but I know that a lot of individuals won't stay until the end. That's your prerogative as readers. It's your prerogative to digest your entertainment in which whatever way you see fit. But do remember something...

The end came swiftly. When the announcement came that there were only 5 chapters left, I don't think anyway was prepared for it. There were so many loose ends that never got tied up. So many plotlines that got laid to rest prematurely. And that's sadly, an indication of Kishimoto's fatigue. Ten years of writing the same story over and over again. I think he just wanted a change in scenery.

It sucks. But at the end of the day it is what it is.

However, on the same token. People are leaving the forums because they are hurt.

When did Heaven and Earth solely become about the physicality of the pairing existing in canon? Wasn't the thought, wasn't the hope that Naruto as a series would conclude with good development? Wasn't that the point of this all?

So to the people who will continue to stay. Make this a haven for good character development from good series, instead of abandoning the people that you've spent the last ten-plus years discussing Naruto  x Sakura together with.

Sounds the most realistic to me.

#526919 Naruto 675

Posted by Greed-Sama on 08 May 2014 - 11:19 PM

There's a lot of arguing in this thread about whether or not people should be concerned about Naruto's sudden power-up. If you don't have an issue with these asspulls, then more power to you. I'm glad you can still enjoy this manga. If you believe that it should be ignored and the most important part of this chapter is Kakashi's statement - well, I'm going to have to disagree with you.

Reasoning:

Shipping, Naruto & Sakura included, can almost be considered an active thing. One of the more active things that can done whilst reading, as reading in general is a mostly passive experience. People ship because they want to root for certain characters experiencing love, hot smex, etc. Reasons are different for everyone, but the cause is still the same. (Gross generalizations of course, exceptions will always exist)

Naruto and Sakura are by no means a unique pairing. It's the truth. Distilled down to its most basic elements, NaruSaku is the tale of boy likes girl. Girl likes other dude. Boy tries his hardest to win her over. And yes, that's incredibly appealing. But what gives it the edge? It's the world that the manga has created. Naruto was this kid imprisoned with this terrible burden. He was ignored and hated for being a child of circumstance. And that made people root for him. People wanted Naruto to achieve everything he set out to do.

But then it turns out that the further we go, the more Naruto was not a child of circumstance but a child of destiny. Not only was he the son of a Hokage, but he was the son of the previous Nine-Tails Jinchuriki, the ninja of prophecy, and a reincarnation. It cheapens the victory. And this eye thing - it was a power-up. A random power-up. Yeah, sure. Sasuke has had them. Madara. Every villain under the sun. But Naruto was a character who fought for his advances.

All I can do when I read this chapter is say, "meeeeeeehhhh."

This entire manga has left a bitter taste in my mouth. And it is affecting the ship. Because the two go hand in hand.

Nah man, I have a feeling that some are like, very serious in this.

I made that comment partially in jest anyways.

The point they are trying to make is that - Naruto at some point in the past had a coherent story and physics that it relied upon. Kishimoto has taken it upon himself to dismantle his own world.

As a writer myself, there is nothing more disheartening than seeing an established and beloved world with lore just completely obliterated for the sake of plot. This whole war arc just - it's abysmal. And I can pinpoint where it all went wrong. The scope of the story got too big. Naruto got too powerful. Once he beat Pein, who was next? How do you challenge the hero? He painted himself into a corner and is having to use Deus Ex Machina to get himself out.

If this doesn't confirm that Naruto is Jesus incarnate - I really don't know what will.

Checklist:

Can talk even the most heinous of criminals down - Check

Can keep someone from dying who is about to die (Gai) - Check

Can create eyeballs from nothing - Check

What's next? Somehow creating a new world in which ninjas don't exist and call it Earth? <---- and i swear if that's the origin story for "our" world, I will throw my computer out the window.

#525105 I have a question... Answers from women would be helpful

Posted by Greed-Sama on 28 April 2014 - 06:49 PM

I've never really spoken of this to anyone before, but I have to get an answer. I'm tired of being a loner. I'm tired of living in constant fear of rejection! Just once I want to know what it's like to actually have a conversation on my cell phone, whether it be texting or talking. I need a friend. I need someone I can call and ask how their day went at work, or someone I can give a hard time without them getting mad at me. I want to have a reason to leave my house on Friday or Saturday night and hang out somewhere and not have this constant feeling that I'm alone in this world.

Then I'll tell you what. Stop. It's literally that simple. As a kid who had the exact same kind of problems, the solution became that solution. Once I started believing in myself - accepting who I was - self improving to be more confident. It affected everything about my life.  The friends that thought of me as "that annoying kid" started to respect me. The woman I loved, she cares about me. In fact, last night she texted me making sure I was safe from the tornadoes that struck Arkansas.

I can't answer everything for you. No one can.

But if you want someone to text or talk to - to be your friend. I'll be your friend. 817-504-4775. That's my number. You can text me at anytime.

And good luck.

#523857 Just wondering

Posted by Greed-Sama on 22 April 2014 - 08:44 AM

It'll change. That's a fact. Of course you'll have people who talk about it from time to time, but just like the older members here who moved on from something other than Naruto, it'll happen the same. It's not as sad as it sounds though. From one fandom to the next. And even then, I know for a fact that this place has changed my life. If it weren't for the people and friends that I made here, I wouldn't be making headway with other things in my life.

The people made this place. Not NaruSaku.

I don't know, maybe because the manga is called Naruto.

*Claps*

Brilliant. Bravo. You are something extraordinary. That snarky remark. That snarky, obvious remark to a comment that has pure legitimacy. I bet he didn't realize that this was a manga called Naruto. Silly of him. I mean, good storytelling doesn't take pacing or relevancy into consideration. As long as the main character is in every single chapter like Kishimoto has done since Chapter 1 of Naru-

Wait. Naruto hasn't been in every chapter? Well color me confused then.

#479949 *The* Bleach Discussion Thread

Posted by Greed-Sama on 04 July 2013 - 04:55 AM

I have read the chapter like ten times and I just have to facepalm. So old man Zangetsu was never Ichigo's sword all along give me a break . This chapter shows you Kubo is the king of asspulls at least Kishi is decent and knows how his manga's story is going to end. But Kubo looks like he's inventing his story and doesn't have a clue how he will end it, it's like he's pulling things out of his ass I swear. I don't even known why I'm bothering reading this manga in the first place, I apologize to all the fans but maybe I should take a long break from Bleach.

Lol. Except not. Kishi is the one who doesn't realize what's going on with his own manga. Everything Kubo has done, has been at least foreshadowed too. If you think it's an asspull, it's only because you haven't read close enough - not his fault.
