Engaging thriller with fast paced action especially during bank jobs and prison breaks giving you an adrenaline shot feeling. Did a great setup in creating the 1930's atmosphere of depression era America with the people, buildings, language, etc; The only real issue I had with was with the characters who despite being played by Depp and Bale didn't really harbor a strong connection besides that of outlaw and authority figures. They don't get much emotional depth, but did well in portraying their respective personalities. Overall though a very enjoyable watch which had great moments and was carried well from beginning to end.
In terms of gangster movies, it's no where near The Godfather, Good fellas, and Scarface, but on par with Road to Perdition, American Gangster, and The Untouchables.

The Last Samurai
9.5/10
As I start my review I will say I have never really been a big fan of Tom Cruise, but this movie was extremely impressive. The movie sets place in the eighteen hundreds, its based around the end of the great Samurai, and the start of Asia's westernization. It seriously offers a soft Americanized romance while still completely respecting the culture of the Samurai, and Asia and the time. Its seriously a great movie, I suggest anyone who hasn't seen it to give it a shot, but as it is I am extremely late to seeing it xD.

It's a little R-rated, so not for the kiddies...but. it. was. so. amazing.
I swear I was stunned.
GORGEOUS movie.
but yeah, it's kinda N-17 so no one under 18 should really watch. It's a Korean movie, so it's subbed, but I REALLY recommend it.

It was a LOT darker than I had originally expected, and way more creepy and weird than I thought it would be...but it was still a good movie O.o
So, I guess that I'm going to go with 8/10

~~~
Thats's it? $8 bucks. Please. Around here the average movie ticket is $9.25-$10.75 >.>
A wonderful movie that really shows that redemption by actions and planning can be achieved. That the power of a human spirit is truly indominatable and the true friendships will survive even the harshest conditions.
"Tropic Thunder" 8/10
A good comedy that makes fun of the trends of the Hollywood world and the social contionspermiating the society today. I think Downey and Stiller made good performances while Black again gave the audience a piece of his "humor" by totally making fun of the addicts in the Hollywood world. The best were the" intros" to the movie in the begging of the movie.
I disagree with this. That movie was horrible and I still question why I sat all the way through it... I think I lol'd once the entire movie, even with the pathetic attempt at irony. It had potential but unfortunately did not deliver. -sigh-
Latest movie I watched?
Donnie Darko- 10/10- This movie was fairly twisted in a good way. The tone was dark and yet heartwarming in it's own right. If you haven't seen it, I highly recommend it.
I think everybody has a different type of humor, I'd say I have the more unusual type of humor, but that's just me.
Scarface 9/10
Blood, guts, anger and coke. Not a good combination for a man like Tony Montana. It was an interesting movie about the rise and decline of a man who wanted so much he became afraid of the world thus destrying himself.
I'm sorry it's so hard to click on "Search" and type in a few words. Or even to take a look around before posting.
Anyways. Moving on.
Cradle 2 The Grave : 7/10
I think that's my lowest rated movie in this thread ever! I'm a fan of Jet Li, but this movie was alright. The action/kung-fu scenes deliver, but they weren't Jet Li's best.
Tom Arnold makes a good comic relief, DMX doesn't really seem up to action movie scene. I like his music, but not his acting so much.
Wasn't expecting much from this movie aside for some good action but even that turned out to be disappointing. There wasn't much of a plot, but you got a basic concept and a problem to at least give it creditability. This movie is really just supposed to be all about the action with intense scenes with a quick pace that's supposed to leave the audience's heart racing. But instead you get left with a dumbfounded expression left wondering what the hell just happened--and not because the scenes were great--but rather because of the choppy camera angles and bad pacing. The only thing that was enjoyable about the movie was the way Liam Neeson portrayed the main character, showing him as ruthless and punishing with a great acting stint, but that wasn't enough to save the movie from being a wreck. Great acting by Neeson, but bad plot and unappealing action made this more of a movie to forget then watch again.
Good tastes.
Garden State - 9/10
A film I've been meaning to see for a while and finally got around to it. It didn't disappoint. Well written, great soundtrack, and I could relate to it in some ways.
Taken - 6/10
I don't think I can say anything that hasn't already been said in this thread. I thought it was average.
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen - 6/10
Liked it more than I thought I would. But still, the only things I give it over the first film are Megatron and Starscream having more scenes, John Turturro's character being less annoying, and Prime being more badass ("GIVE ME YOUR FACE").
EPIC. Just Epic...... i literally felt like i was back in the 1980's watching the cartoon on TV.
Few movie conversions of cartoons have ever made me feel that way =D
If you ever watched the original series as a kid WATCH THE MOVIE NOW.
(although i'd suggest you read the prequel comic trilogy first..... a lot has happened between transformers 1 and 2. 15 issues of awesomeness
to be exact......)
I seriously don't know how to describe this movie. It's outrageous, atrocious, flagrant, iniquitous, nefarious, and every other damn adjective that can describe it as just simply, shocking. Similar to Borat, it constantly had me, as well as the audience, laughing nearly every minute of the eighty three total minutes. This movie sets out what its supposed to; make people laugh at things we would normally not even consider/imagine. It's not comedic genius whatsoever, but just plain silly and wacky. Some of the scenes do look as if they were staged, but it won't matter since it's too hilarious for anyone to care for. Simply put, its over the top ridiculous that delivers well all throughout and definitely worth seeing at the cinema.
Though slight warning:
LOL. Have you even seen it? If you haven't, you can't "agree" with anything.
First see it, then judge it.
The way Sasha Baron Cohen does stuff is satirical. It's supposed to poke fun at American insecurities, including homosexuality and such. He does it so you're either laughing your ass off because you know it's not serious, or you're annoyed at him for doing such a thing. But the way he does stuff is just generally what the North American populace feels with homosexuality. It makes them uncomfortable. Which is why he did this movie.
I'm not gonna go any further, but please refrain from using "white trash comedy" because there are OTHER films that should be in that category.
Troy - 6/10
Brad Pitt as Achilles? I still think they should have hired a person who didn't have to fake a British accent. :cookie:
And when were Greeks and Trojans all British? I guess I'll have to ask a historian!
