I just recently got a fight stick to up my game, but I am having a real problem trying to figure out how to hold it correctly. I can't seem to do my moves correctly when facing the first player side of the screen T_T

First and foremost, you'll need a lot of time to get used to your new stick! It can take months before using an arcade stick becomes natural. I had the same kind of problems adjusting, but now I'm so used to it that I refuse to use a pad for fighting games. smile.gif

Execution: Take it slowly at first. Don't rush movements. When you start to consistently get commands right, you can start to gradually speed up your input. Practice Mode is excellent for practising your execution as you can turn on Input Display.

Here's a guide on the various methods of playing with the stick. Try some of them out and see what fits you best!

Good luck. smile.gif

Now, is anyone up for a Fight Club on the 360 today? biggrin.gif I'll be online from 5:30pm BST (GMT +1), watching Doctor Who from 7-8, then back online again!

I may come in, if I have the chance...

But important announcements for the game:

Mark your calendars, because the Tournament patch is coming on June 15th which includes the Tournament and some patches of bugfixes (includes guard input for opponents when an Ultra is performed... now I do say some characters like Cammy and Ryu has the guard input but not everyone else when the game was released).

Also, there are rumors that we may get more characters, via DLC soon: R.Mika, Rolento and Hugo are the speculated characters and hopefully, Elena since she almost made it in to the cut ( I want Karin!!!! rawr.gif )

Yeah, heard about those things! biggrin.gif I'd definitely pay for more characters, hopefully Elena and Karin make the cut. Can't wait for the tournament mode.

I'm in the SSF4 lobby right now, with a pair of MONSTERS. XD; Come and join us!

*cough*360360360*cough**cough**kaff*

Sorry, I seem to have a bad cough there.

Just finished on SSF4 playing against my friend and one of his online friends. I got owned. XD;; We'll both be back on SSF4 tomorrow late afternoon/early evening British time. If anyone wants to join, just pop online and I'll invite you. smile.gif

Be warned, Alan is very good with a variety of SSF4 characters. Let your guard down, and he'll take you to the cleaners. Like he did to me.

wink.gif

Well, I've got the Tournament FightStick that was released with the original SF4. happy.gif I've got used to it, but I'm now working on getting rid of my bad habits. They just seem to creep back if I don't play the game for a week or so!

I won a few fights and some rounds against the two monsters in my lobby last night, but I kept drifting away from my blocking and missing combo opportunities. *shakes head* I really need to drill execution into my fingers!

*sighs* On the bright side, I did find ways of taking Guile apart. happy.gif

Alan and I will be back on tonight at about 7pm BST (GMT +1), maybe a little earlier. Feel free to pop in if you get the chance!

Thanks for the inviting me to play today. Had fun. My Juri still needs work. I can't time her ultra all the time and I have a tendency to miss her ultra link combo by executing too early or too late still need to get the timing down.

Your Cammy is good you just need to mix up you moves a bit more and take advantage of openings people give you. Cammy usually dominates air to air confrontations due to she is smaller and her hit area is slightly different. She also has range which you should take advantage of. You should use the Hooligan move I believe? More often or work it more into your game. (the one where she spins into small ball or something and flies towards the opponent). Work on luring people into moves that you could use the hooligan move or even your dive kick. I've faced some crazy Cammy players using Guile and have been owned a couple of times so I try to anticipate possible moves.

As you can tell Guile is by far my best player, but he's not invincible. I'm more of an aggressive Guile player but against certain characters and styles that just doesn't always work. I get impatient so I attack and Guile isn't a really an aggressive type but can be used as one every now and then. Guile's defense recovers quicker than most after he does some moves and slower after others. I just understand his limits better than other characters. I have fun with Juri too but still learning her weaknesses and recovery points. Ibuki looks fun but a little complex for me right now but who knows.

Anyways, I had fun and tell your friends I had fun too. Your friend Alan I'm assuming was the Ryu player. Look forward to playing with you guys in the future.

Thanks for the games, Racer, it was great that you and Bryon were able to join us. biggrin.gif Yeah, Alan was the Ryu/Honda/Bison/Zangief/Guile/Hawk/Cammy player, he's a great friend of mine.

It was very challenging playing you all! Thanks for all the feedback, I'll try to work more on my Cammy game. smile.gif While I'm glad I'm improving, I do still realise that I have a long way to go. I was happy that I could use some Cannon Strike pressure to keep people on the defensive, I still need to work on the combos and also to take care of when I throw. I got hit too many times due to whiffing a throw, when I should have used a poke or hit confirm combo.

I saved some replays from everyone's matches, so I've been looking at what I did right and what I did wrong. Very handy feature! I've also been trying to look for the best Cammy replays on the channel so I can watch and learn, try to develop the basics before getting into detailed strategies.

I'll be back online this weekend, about the same times. Until then, I shall try to find some time to practise with Cammy!

School of hard knocks, indeed, Krazy. XD;

I just keep ending up in lobbies with B or C+ players, and ranked usually puts me up against people with at least twice my BP/PP. But then again, what doesn't kill you makes you stronger (hopefully). I managed to nab a couple of rounds off some very strong players, but they were probably just off-guard as they usually shut me out for the final round. Need to work on mix-ups. I'm using Practice for combo/execution drills and Multiplayer for the fights.

I've got this replay on the 360 of a lobby match I saw. It's of a Balrog taking Ryu apart like a kid pulling the legs off a daddy-long-legs. It literally made the hairs stand up on the back of my neck. It was just terrifying to watch.

Krazy and Sir Whirly, I'll keep an eye out for you this weekend. biggrin.gif When do you normally come online then?

@_@..... After a massive 9 match loss streak i finally adapted to the new game and managed to get my first win against a d+ Cody player. the dude was shocked when i came back from having just 10% health versus his 90% in the 2nd round to beat him XD. just had to save it to the replay channel :3 Immediately after that had a couple of matches with smiter. was just the thing i needed to get rid of my rusted play and get back into the groove biggrin.gif Definitely look forward to fighting you guys now smile.gif make sure you add my gamertag so we can brawl sometime.

@Smiter:- yea. Balrogs and Blanka's are still pretty darn difficult for me to beat lol. they can punish a shoto character if they're not careful. Btw. I'm online ANYTIME :3. All you gotta do is tell me what time you're free in G.M.T. if possible i'll try and be online then smile.gif

I'd better fire up the 360 soon so I can try to get my arcade stick execution right. I'll do it as soon as my stomach has digested that fruit smoothie... *buurrrrppp* x.x
