Hurricane Isaac is on track for New Orleans. I'm evacuating in a couple of hours. I know it's not going to be near as bad as Katrina, but it still makes me nervous.

Hurricane Sandy is going to be a historic, monster storm. It's already historic in the sense that it's doing things that we've never seen any storm in history do before. It's already combining with two other major weather systems to create the 'Perfect Storm', or rather a Frankenstorm because it's such a monster storm. It's 2000 miles wide. I live in Florida and it was 55 degrees last night in October, because of the winter storm/nor'easter Hurricane Sandy is mixing with up north, is traveling down through this massive hurricane and impacting us all the way down here. Hurricane Sandy is projected to be the biggest storm to hit the United States...ever.
Yoko is in Hurricane Sandy's direct path. So, are a number of other friends and family I have in the NY/Delaware/Boston areas. Let us hope and pray that everyone makes it through this monster storm safe and sound.

The bad thing about it is that I just start working night-shift at the airport and the governor announced that tomorrow they'll shut down the buses, trains, everything!
What we're worrying about is not the raining and the flooding (only in certain areas that will get it), its the winds that are going 80 mph. Especially where there are trees and power lines out there.
As my friend said on facebook, another Jumunji upon us!

Yea that storm seems pretty bad. There was talk about putting the base here on lockdown, the wind and rain was pretty heavy. I'd hate to be any closer to it.

Well, the storm's wrath is coming around at least 5 PM EST. Atlantic City is already flooded by 5 inches. President Obama just declared state of emergency for NJ, NY, Massachusetts, PA and other neighboring states.
As I said before, everything is shut down, including public transportation, schools, and the major highways in NJ are closed both ways. Many flights are canceled.
(And I did this post around 12 PM...)
Right now, we're bracing ourselves.
EDIT: Now a crane in NYC is dangling on the side of a building. That said building is evacuating the people over there. That crane is likely going to fall.

Storm is currently blowing up a nice gust of rain and wind right now in Toronto.
It's not fun when said storm causes my dogs to not do their business outside.

Its weird how quiet it is. The worse for us is coming through tonight and into tomorrow. It was really just raining all day but now the wind is picking up.
EDIT: A chunk of NY is without power, the Empire State building is one of the only buildings still active.
