Taken purely from the point of view of the manga; Hinata's death was a totally unsurprising end to an utterly useless character. The sole productive thing she ever did was make some cream for injuries ( chuunin exams ), other than that... she had the full resources of an entire clan, and wasted the lot. If she didn't want to be a fighter, why the hell didn't she go and do something she was actually good at, like something in medicine? I'm sorry, someone without any conviction at all would not be someone I wanted to rely on to keep me alive in a fight.
Which brings us to 437; there's an entire village turned into rubble, no doubt there's people trapped there, and you've got these magic eyes that let you see chakra, and you've got some ability to treat injuries, so what do you do?
Lets see, do you a) finally confess to the guy you've supposedly loved for years and COMMIT SUICIDE IN FRONT OF HIS FACE IMMEDIATELY without doing any damage whatsoever, or b) help pull people out of the mess & treat them, and stay out of the damn way of people who you know are insanely strong, just like the rest of Naruto's friends ( apart from the ones planning on actually doing something productive that is ). Good job Hinata, now you've made Naruto go out of control 6-tails & quite possibly screwed all sorts of kitten up. If you really love someone you don't go and deliberately cause them pain. Stupid, useless, idiot.
I'm assuming that if he's broken Pain's control by going all Kyuubi now, he could have done it anyway, so she really didn't save him from anything. I'm not sure if I like the chapter for making brave decisions about popular character death, or be utterly disgusted about how lame it really is, either way if she somehow lives through all this I'm another one who's gonna quit reading it. The guy stabbed her, it's pretty damn obvious, doesn't matter what it was with, and he has absolutely no reason not to kill her. Kakashi ran out of chakra, there's kinda room for manoever there, but this should be terminal.
As I cant stand the anime I'm assuming from what I've read about it that she's actually a worthwhile character, which would explain why people like her, but purely manga? bleh. The silly reactions after this hits the anime are going to make some amusing reading, I think.
Edit; should point out that Sakura's also got a history of doing this sort of thing ( for both Sasuke & Naruto so far ), only rather less terminally, and only in a situation where they needed saving from *themselves*. Um, yes, one of those might be coming I guess.

Funny enough, that would be the only way I would be okay with Hinata living through this. Like he wakes up or something and freaks out that she's okay and then when he asks her what it was she said to him before he went six-tails she gets all shy again and says it wasn't anything important.
Anyway, it's not because I don't like her or anything, but I really hope Hinata stays dead (It's funny to me how it's okay to say something like that in any context, but w/e XD). As weird as it sounds, I just think her death could bring so much more to the story than her survival. All things considered, I honestly think this chapter had just two purposes, neither of which really involve developing pairings. 1) It brought Hinata full-circle and had her finally overcome her shyness to protect someone she cares about, and 2) Her death caused Naruto to go six-tails. But since fans seem to have the uncanny ability of being able to make pairings the center of everything, I think that after this is all over that NaruHina still only has a 1 in 5 (20%) chance of beginning to just develop (not even happen yet) assuming that she lives through this, and I think even that's being generous.
Then again, I've been wrong about a couple of other seemingly obvious pairings. I'm hoping Kishi doesn't disregard all the development between Naruto and Sakura for the sake of pleasing some fans, and though I really don't think he will I'm not going to feel at ease until Hinata is certainly, without a doubt, stabbed by Pain in the chest/stomach/head/something, dead as a doorknob.

Stupid, useless, idiot.
Once again, please refrain from character bashing. This is the absolute last 'unofficial' warning we are going to give about this. The next person to character bash will be receiving an Official Mod warning.

Yeah that will probably be a big problem too.

His lifespan gets shorter and shorter with more tails. So aside from having severe damage to his body which needs a medic-nin to heal since the fox won't, he'll have a shorter life even after he's healed.

Like with the Sasuke fight, when he got his lung pierced, he would have died without the fox.

Wow, you're soo logical I'd wish I think more like you and not let me emotions get in the way. So true, and yet could be so wrong if Kishi goes Rowling on us...
Unfortunately mods are stingy about 'bashing' even though I don't think too many of them are Hinata fans.

and sakura was making him kittenballs, however, think...
explodes and blows kitten up since someone he cared about was "killed"?
Allow me to sidetrack....Sakura was originally a pouty, stuck up, immature, useless b*tch....to put it bluntly. she went after the one that hated her, the good looking, smart, strong, assmunch.
massive kitten and even makes fun of his delinquency
Now don't get me wrong, Kishimoto might be a massive f****t prick and kill her off, in which case
i apologize if anyone was harmed in the making of this essay of clusterkitten arguments. good day.
So much of your 'essay' was offensive, and broke several rules.
From our Rules and Regulations
The submission of abusive posts/topics is a highly serious offence here, and the poster will almost certainly be banned for at least a week - and it could be permanent. Abusive and discriminatory language is not welcome here.
Any posts that contain excessive profanity (masked or otherwise) will be deleted without notice. Repeat offenders will be issued a warning.
Character and pairing bashing is prohibited.
To a lesser extent, the same holds true even of characters of Naruto because character/pairing bashing can quickly lead into bashing of the opinion of those that like the character/pairing. It also often leads to a degeneration in the quality of the discussion, especially when comments are made in poor taste.
As mentioned before, our members also like other pairings, even those that may conflict with NaruSaku (such as NaruHina, SasuSaku, LeeSaku etc.). Some may also like characters who are not universally loved.
So please refrain from bashing. Any posts that consist of bashing will be deleted without notice, persistent offenders will be given a warning by mods.
I'm on the verge of closing all of these threads about Hinata, because the offensive posts don't seem to be stopping, despite all of the constant warnings.
Edit -
Excuse me. Do you have any idea of much we've let go in terms of 'bashing'. We've given numerous 'unofficial' warnings and let a lot slide, but there comes a certain point where no more can be let go, because it is offensive to others even if it's not to you.

It's not necessary to leave. Just please don't let it happen again. We're a 13+ website, and we like to try to maintain a certain level of decorum, so that the site can be enjoyed by *everyone*

I would not go so far as to say that mods are stingy about bashing. Any form of bashing is prohibited. Even bashing Naruto or Sakura, the characters the site is based on is prohibited. We are trying to keep a nice and friendly environment by having absolutely no bashing for anyone/anything or profanity around. We respect other pairing supporters for coming here and not bashing us or our pairing so it should be right if we do the same and respect theirs and act mature about it.
The mods are doing their job and are trying to uphold to the rules and we should all respect them for that, even if they end up looking like the "villain" in all of this.

You make the mistake of thinking that logic factors into it when it comes to who one "should" end up with. Have you ever been in a situation where someone desperately wants you to hook up with someone you don't like? Same thing. They could be the best person in the world, more "deserving" and whatever else; in the end it means nothing. You are who you are and you like who you like, no matter how good they are for you.
Love can be elixer or it can be poison; but it can never be forced upon someone.
When people make the mistake of thinking a matter of deserving factors into things like love, it tends to show a lack of understanding of it. It's not based on who deserves who. It's not based on deeds done or what you percieve. It's not based on how strongly one party feels if the other does not feel the same.
It just is. Love simply is.
Sakura was a child, a kid, when she had this immense crush on Sasuke. She did not truly understand him. She did not truly understand love. Hinata practically worshipped Naruto. She did not understand him either. Only one aspect. Objectively, Sakura grew up and learned to let go of Sasuke; in contrast, Hinata seems to have shown no signs of giving up her view of Naruto or the crush that came with it. This is despite ll he's been through and his own changes, which she knows little of. On the outside, she see's what she has; on the inside, like many others, there's something else there.
You live, you learn, you grow up. Everybody makes mistakes, especially when young. When you put everything into terms of deserving, no one ever measures up.

Dont know why people find it necessary to bash. It is so immature. Why can't people just love all characters for who they are and not judge them on who they are not.

Kishi? I think he has a grasp on it. That's one of the few things I can really hand to him. I've been frustrated by a lot of other things about his manga.
