Pretty much impossible when you watch series/anime and read manga/books

Ships are everywhere, unconciously you will begin to wish for more interaction between two characters and then BAM you're done

Shipping is good tho, the bad thing are the pairing wars and the abysmal level of inteligence of some shippers "trolls", they can make a fandom suck so much

Yeah I guess you can't help but ship. When I see two characters that I would like to see as a pair I just say, "I hope they end up together". But that was about it, I never really cared if they did or not. With NaruSaku it was different. I won't allow myself to ship other ships like I did with NS. I mean I joined an NS fan club lol.

NS is just a part of a very bad story, you shouldn't let that stop you from enjoying stories that are actually well written, and the ships there in.

Plus if you need a godo story, go read some Hey Arnold fanfiction Helga and Arnold have a complex relationship built up over years with tons of passion, pain, and jubilation. And in the end they are confirmed to be happily married. Not every story is written by a man with the skill of a turtle.

I'm kind of turned off from shipping as a whole. I think it really has the potential to ruin entire stories. I hate that people make such a big deal out of shipping wars and ship all sorts of random crap and make up all sorts of excuses, mutilating character's personalities, all for the sake of forcing a "ship" on people. It causes such hatred and polarization among fandoms, and has the potential to completely ruin a story's experience for people.

I honestly loved Naruto, and not JUST for NaruSaku. However, when NaruHina happened instead, the entire manga was ruined for me. I hate that shipping has the ability to do that. The problem is, you don't have control over what you ship. I guess I just don't like the shipping culture that has evolved online. But, what're ya gonna do?

I won't give up on shipping. But I will admit, NaruSaku losing it's obviously promised canon slot really, really, REALLY hurt my shipper heart. I probably won't get too involved with shipping until I know what's confirmed and what isn't. Seriously...can anyone blame NaruSaku fans for having shipping trust issues after the shiz Kishimoto pulled?? There is still absolutely zero logical reason why NaruSaku wasn't canon and NH/SS were.

I'll always ship NaruSaku too...but it sometimes it really hurts to do so. They were the first pairing I saw true beauty in. I loved everything about their development and how it was obvious yet subtle was just genius...I don't think Kishimoto even understood that himself...and I almost hate him for it.

But tearing down the characters, their development and the story along with your loved pairings? That's just tearing open the wound and pouring acid in it.

I never want to feel this sort of pain again. The betrayal of trust between a fan and author is almost like being cheated on by a lover. Especially for those who love stories and are really invested in one.

@Win-chan
I 100% agree. Shipping can seriously ruin everything. Almost like a drug.

Well as for me, I got burned in a short amount of time, both with Naruto and Korra so that was a big blow. I think I'll maybe start actively shipping in those fandoms again, but I'm still waiting for the dust to settle. There are still so many shippers who just live to rub "defeat" in other people's faces that I get disgusted with it pretty soon even if I do try to pick it up again.

As for other fandoms, I'm also still playing it safe. I don't want to get to invested in shipping a couple from a series what's still not completed because now I know that for some writers logic means nothing and anything can happen. So for now I'm going back to all my old pairings that I used to love and I'm wrapping myself in nostalgia.

No, but it's been difficult. Instead of getting attached to a series, it's become more of a passive experience--I still ship, but very lightly.

For Naruto, I'll always ship NS, but I don't think I'll be braving the fandom any time soon.

Nah, I still have ships. I've always been pretty picky-choosy with pairings, but the ones I get attached to I never really leave. Naruto's ending was a huge blow, but it'll get easier with time. I have distanced myself from Naruto and NaruSaku too, but that doesn't mean I've completely stopped liking NS. I think once this ending stops being such a raw spot (I have no idea how long that will take) I'll be able to look at NaruSaku with fondness again, but until that happens I'll just enjoy my other ships.

I still ship NS and I still have ships. But for me, Naruto was the first time I was really a part of the shipping community, and that's something I want to avoid in the future. Ships are cool. The fans' shipping wars are for the birds.

No I shipped before Naruto and I will continue to Ship After Naruto. I just learned to expect disappointment and not for anything to be a guarantee for shipping from this experience.

While I still have ships, and have taken on a few more on since the Naruto end, haven't found one that made me go all wild and crazy and "ajshfdkjhfkjdfk OPT!!!" since NaruSaku. But I'm sure I will eventually.

The only pair that I ship so hard is NS. Outside of that, I'm just a predictor.
Sometime I like the pairing sometime I neutral to them.
I usually predict the outcome of pairing based on story telling.
So, I don't think I will stop predicting pairing, but I don't think I will ship them too.
