Bolivian leader knocks industrial chicken, soda
Tue Apr 20, 3:44 pm ET
TIQUIPAYA, Bolivia – Bolivian President Evo Morales said Tuesday that men should stay away from chicken if they want to maintain their hair and virility.
Morales told an environmental conference that chicken producers inject the birds with female hormones "and because of that, men who consume them have problems being men." He also suggested eating too much chicken for too long could make men go bald.
Morales' warning may be out of date: Chicken producers in Europe, the United States and many other countries say they abandoned the use of hormones in poultry several decades ago and many if not most Western nations ban them outright.
The president also blasted Coca-Cola, saying, "It is harmful. ... Imagine what it contains."
Morales blamed "the west," a reference to industrial countries such as the U.S., which he said "bring us more and more poison."
The secret ingredient in Coca-Cola is widely rumored to be something Morales himself once grew as leader of a coca-producers union — a version of the plant with the psychoactive substances removed.

I wonder what he smokedDiscuss

That so stupid of him to say that or he might actually be. Some chickens are given high protein feed to grow faster but affecting one's personality is bizarre.

There was a ingredient used in Tab cola but you'd have to drink several cases of it in one day.

Can't blame him for the warnings, though. Sometimes I wonder just why the heck we keep shoveling this stuff at mass-speed. And if he's just tapping into the ignorance of his people to make them healthier, isn't that fair? Or am I looking at things from a different angle, instead of being out and brunt and screaming "HARHARHAR, HE FUNNY!"?

Reminds me of the time my parents thought that because I ate too much egg and chicken, it was the cause of the spot of white hair I currently have. It was funny and ludicrous. I still have the white spot of hair, I love it, and it's caused by a mutation that for some reason, caused the melanin producing my black colored-hair to stop producing black in that specific spot.

Female hormones causes you to go bald? Ah, finally an explanation to why women have so much thinner hair than men, and why the percentage of bald women greatly exceeds men. I wonder how many gay people could just stop eating chicken, and suddenly switch lanes...

Well he's way wrong about what's in them, but he's right about the factory farms (not just in the west either) injecting chicken (also turkeys, cows, pigs, etc...) with all kinds of things that is doing who knows what to us- growth hormones, antibiotics (this is the real reason many scientists think that antibiotic resistant strains of diseases are increasing, people ingesting meat filled with these antibiotics for human diseases that the animals don't really need. Even factory farm fish are given chemical mess in their food. I worry a bit that we haven't seen the full extent of the health repercussions from this.

Yeah, I heard in China some fish farmers were growing fish in sewage water

, when they were talking about food safety and inspection a while back with the salmonella peanut butter reports.

Well I know that the growth hormones, many scientist suspect causes puberty to hit people at an earlier age. But now days with more people than land now a days. Many farmers need to look at different ways to make more food quicker. Sigh, the perils of modern society I guess.

Well, i really don't know, with a small percentage of the world population being able to call food a luxury, were forgetting that many countries that have not receive the Green Revolution...Africa especially have people that are starving to death.

You're right. You are looking at it from a different angle. And it's a rather asinine one at that. What you've basically said is that it's okay to deceive a populace so long as you're doing it in their best interest. Of course, that begs the question what is in their best interest and who decides that?" People like you? Lead away, Yoshi! I'm too stupid to make my own decisions or to understand their consequences.
