It's been quiet around here for sometime and I believe it is time to make an important announcement for old and new members alike.

As of the passing two months, the mods and admins here has the decided that the addonchat system here in the Heaven and Earth forums, known as Live Chat, is officially dead.

Reason? Plenty of reasons. Trust me, there is a list.

But the real issue is the inactivity. Lately, no one ever use the chat system. No one has request for opening it. Not even one single member stop by when it was opened at the right time when there are many members active on the boards. And since no one cares about the system now, it was our best decision to let it run off its course.

So, through Live Chat, we had the good, the bad, and the ugly with it for the past four years, and now with this decision, its time has passed.

Ohh well, I never used it anyway. Just a waste of bytes on the server.

Honestly... this isn't much of a surprise to me. I've stopped by frequently and I've seen how dead it is. Most of the LC regulars don't even drop often anymore (myself included). Hopefully some of the ugliness that comes with LC will be gone and we'll be more interactive on the boards once again.

It wasn't a problem with the bandwidth, since it probably takes less MB than a few threads. It was the cost of renewing it, the addon chat isn't cheap, after all. I looked it up when I wanted to start my own mini forum. Wasn't worth it at all.



Sadly true, muimui. The past year or so, I've been at school and the dorm firewall doesn't allow LC. If I did have time @ school for LC, it was always open late or it was dead by the time I got in.

Thats what the chat thread is now for.

Yeah, my only real free time is in the early AM to mid afternoon EST, which is pretty much the opposite of when a good portion of others who I typically saw in LC can be around. It's a bummer, for sure, but understandable. There are other java chat programs that may not be as good, but they are free and can be used in a pinch.

We had a good run when it was used like mad.

But there are other alternatives. Use the chat thread, or simply use a free java-chat room. Hell, IRC still works.

RIP Live Chat.

Smiter paid $150 bucks a year for something that had essentially died. Wasn't worth the cost anymore.

Yeah. I was usually on when I saw it open, but it's been dying for a while now. Most of the time no one would talk. Still, it had it's great moments. (:

Livechat never was as good as the flashchat days XD Most of those members are gone now anyways. I think LC got a bit complicated in the end with all of the modding (not arguing if it was necessary or not). But yeah, it had been dying for awhile.

RIP LC. It was fun while it lasted.

R.I.P. had some good times in both the fc and lc.

'Tis a shame. I never got the chance to use it.

No surprise there. It hasn't been open for a while and when it was, it was basically empty. (At least when I wandered in which was infrequently.)

So how much longer is the thing on the bottom telling us that nobody is in LiveChat going to be around?

To be honest I am not surprised at all. I mostly came here for LC but if it saves Smiter money because we don't use it, then I shall say goodbye.

I shall miss thee Live Chat, you will forever have a random place in my heart for all the LULZ you have created.

I've never used it... But, anyway, since there r many reasons why you decided to close it I've nothing to say I'd like to suggest you something... Why don't you organise a Sketch Contest? The H&E members will draw sketches of Naruto and Sakura and post them at the forum. Then u'll decide who the winner is. Do u like it?

We already have things like that. The latest contest was just a few months ago to celebrate H&E's 5th birthday and includes both fanart and fanfiction.

Awww. That's too sad. I did go here several times, just to check if Live Chat was open. Anyway, it's for the best.

How come it hasn't been removed from the site yet? Is Smiter going to have to schedule a temporary maintenance site shutdown to get it removed?

Uh... dude, it already been removed. And for our part, we mods and admins have the "ability" to open the chat system with a push of a button. A little removal of a program doesn't require a site shutdown, because its more of a third-party program I believe.

I'm talking about the Live Chat Program/Tool bar not being removed from the bottom of the Home page.

Hmmm... that one at the bottom...

We can actually turn that one off too...

I will miss flagging you little rascals, and the /kick command was great fun.

*GASP* Right when I was just about to make a comeback (for, like the 4th time >_<), I find that my wonderful chat is...dead! Oh how sad. I'll go cry now. Thankfully it's allergy season, so I'll just say the pollen is really getting to me...which is true, of course.
