Full Version: Quick question about Rinnegan and Sharingan.
Heaven & Earth > Hidden Village of Konoha > Naruto General

Just crossed my mind so I thought I'd get it out of the way and into the clear.

So all that has been revealed about the Sharingan and its origin has me confused. Wasn't there some point in the Naruto series where it was said that the Sharingan was simply a mutation of the Byakugan? If that's true how can the other thing be true too? Did I imagine that? I could have but I thought it was said somewhere... is this Kishi being forgetful?

Other way around. It's the Byakugan that is derived from the Sharingan.

Nope.

"Although it is not stated directly, it is assumed that all members of the Hyūga family possess the Byakugan. It is a common, although unproven, belief that the Sharingan is a genetic offshoot of the Byakugan."

Hmm, I'm getting my information muddled then.

Isn't the Sharingan descended from the Rinnegan the Sage of Six Paths held, or rather, the Juubi's Rinnegan/Sharingan fusion eyes?
Strangelove
Yeah, but Kishi put that info, wayyyyyyyy before the idea of the rinnegan came through.
Evil Potato
I'm pretty sure the sharingan came from the jyuubi and the rinnegan came from the sage of six paths, not sure about the other eye technique but it may be a whole other thing from sharingan and rinnegan. Actually, I think it is, like it has nothing to do with sharingan or its heritage.

This is the problem with not plotting out your story from the beginning. You just end up confusing your readers with false information.
