My mother's computer has come down with a case of Security Tool. The Screensaver is blank and the damn thing interferes with everything. I've tried removing it manually, but the "program" seems to block all attempts to do so. I've found a few programs that actually seem to work, but they require us to buy the system. Is there any free program out there that can remove it, or another way of getting rid of it manually?

Thanks

I don't get what you're saying. XD

Can you post a screen shot of it? But it sounds like spyware to me... D:

The best program to use is a little one called HijackThis.

I used to use it all the time before browser security became better. It isolates processes by the .exe's and .dll's that they use, then deletes and isolates as much as it can. When you reboot, it places 'dummy' .dll's that will keep the .exe from running on startup. That way you can delete everything without having to worry about it reinstalling itself.

It usually only needs to do that as a last resort. Most of the time it can isolate a process and stop it successfully so you can delete it.

Edit: I should probably add as a disclaimer, if you aren't at least an above-average computer user (intermediate-ish), then you probably shouldn't try using HijackThis. It's not that complicated to use (for me, at least) but it can be really dangerous if you don't have a clue what you're doing.
