Haven't Met You Yet - Chapter I: First Step to Acknowledgment is Knowing
~o~
People used to say that, "Love was in the air" around the time of Valentine's Day. Whether it be in the eastern part of the world or western, love was essential to a healthy love...for most. Konohagakure, or the Village Hidden in the Leaves, was one of those villages that celebrated love as, not only a holiday, but a time to come together as one and find love in places you'd never expect.
Villagers hustled and bustled around the town centre, buying varieties of flowers ranging from rhododendrons and lilies and a dozen, red roses; buying sweets and nice things for their loved ones or hopeful loved ones. Villagers were hugging their close friends, and kissing their "closer" friends as people passed by: Cupid had struck Konoha full force.
But, unfortunately, one blond, cerulean-blue eyed teen wasn't so fortunate. His name was Naruto Uzumaki, eighteen years old and girlfriendless. He was a Jounnin in the ranking system of Shinobi, but a Toad Sage which was endowed to him by his deceased sensei, Jiraiya.
The reason why, which he thought, he had no love in his life, was because of what his father had done to him eighteen years ago on his birthday. The Yondaime Hokage, or Minato Namikaze, had sealed the Kyuubi no Yoko inside the newborn Naruto, burdening him forever unless killed.
Recently, all the chaos behind his tenant inside of him had died down and he was now worshiped as a hero, as his father had wanted. Still, he longed for one person...
At the Konoha Hospital, a young, bubblegum pink haired and emerald green eyed teen looked over a medical chart of a patient who had received major third degree burns all over his body due to an attack by a Katon jutsu. Her name was Sakura Haruno, head medical nin at the hospital, and Naruto's teammate. Naruto had always admired her more than a friend since they were children, but he could never tell her directly.
Many times, he had faced the chance to tell her, but he just couldn't; since Sakura's heart was stolen by their other teammate, Sasuke Uchiha, who was killed the last year. They both knew what they had to do, and they agreed for their sake and Sasuke's sake, he had to be killed.
Anyways, Naruto walked with high hopes towards the hospital, wearing a short sleeve orange shirt, with a black short hoodie vest and black sweats. Behind his back, he had a bouquet of flowers: A mix of white and red roses. He smiled to himself, and looked up to the sunny sky, "Nice day..." He said to himself, and he continued to the hospital. Sakura sighed, and put the cahrt back into its tray, and walked into the patient's room.
"Well, Samuri-san, it seems the burns are bad, of course, but you should be out of here by," she paused, thinking about the chart, "two weeks. Just try not to move so much and if you need anything, press the button."
The man nodded softly, trying not to hurt himself, "Arigato, Sakura-san."
Sakura smiled, and bowed politely before leaving the quarters. She ruffled her hair a bit, and walked out into the waiting room. She needed some air, so she traveled outside in front of the hospital. A light breeze blew by, carrying a few sakura blossom petals along with it.
"Sakura-chan!" A voice sounded, and the pink haired kunoichi turned to see her blond teammate. She gave him a friendly smile, "Naruto, what are you doing here?"
Naruto took the flowers from behind his back, and presented them to her, "These are for you." Sakura gasped out of surprise, and took the bouquet, sniffing the scent of the fresh plant. "Wow, thanks! What for?"
"Well, I wanted to know if you'd go on a d-date with me...You know, with Sonick and Solace of course too..." He said, and he mentally slapped himself.
Sakura frowned a bit, but kept her smile, "Sure! What time and when?" "Um, tonight at seven. We'll come to pick you up around six forty-five. Is that okay?" He asked, and Sakura nodded, "Sure, I'll see you then," she said, giving her friend a hug, "well, I've got to go back to work. Bye, Naruto."
She gave him a wave, and took her flowers with her inside the hospital. Naruto kept a smile on until she went inside, and cursed, "kitten! Why the hell did I have to mention my brother and his date? I could've gone with just her...dammit." He said, walking away from the hospital with his hands in his pockets.
Meanwhile, at the academy, a tall, silver-haired and tangerine orange eyed teen stood at the front of the classroom, lecturing wannabe Gennin, or lower ninja. The Academy Students listened intently to what he was saying, and the teen smirked.
"Now, who can tell me the top ranking ninja in our village's shinobi system?" He asked, and awaited someone to raise their hand or blurt out the answer. A young boy with jet black hair answered, "Is it the Hokage?"
The silver-haired teen nodded, and gave his student a smile, "Yes! Correct! The Hokage, or Fire Shadow, is one of many 'shadows' of the main villages across the land." This was Sonick Uzumaki, Naruto's brother. Although you couldn't tell the resemblance, Sonick was definitely blood brothers with the blond knuckle-head.
Born the same day Naruto was, Naruto was born first, but the unexpected happened. Kushina Uzumaki, their mother, had another baby by surprise, and unfortunately, Naruto was chosen to be the container of the Kyuubi due to timing.
Sonick's teeth were abnormal in a way; instead of having normal sized canine, or incisor, teeth for a human being, he had sort of wolf-like canines, which earned him the nickname, "Wolf Shinobi". The bell rang throughout the academy, and Sonick clapped his hands together.
"Remember, tomorrow is your Kunai and Shurriken Accuracy Test! Be sure to get a good night's sleep." Sonick said, and the students rushed out of the classroom to get home and do other things. Sonick plopped down in the chair, and gave out a sigh of relief.
"Damn, everyday is exhausting..." He said to himself, and that's when he heard a knock at the door. "Come in..." He announced, and the door opened. A beautiful, young woman with hazelnut brunette hair with blond streaks, along with a pair of forest green eyes walked in. Sonick sat up straight, and he smirked, "Surprise seeing you."
She smiled, and sat on the desk, "Oh really? That's weird, 'cause I think I remember asking you if I could come in today...I guess not."
"Hey Solace, what's up?" Sonick said, smiling at his teammate. Solace Myrashime was Sonick's love interest for a long time, as long as Naruto with Sakura, but he had never gotten the guts to tell her. They were teammates, the only two of the group that got along with each other, and they were like two peas in a pod.
Solace smirked, and crossed her arms, "Well, Naruto told me that we were going to dinner tonight at seven." Sonick raised an eyebrow, "What? Since when was this going on?"
"Since today. And he wants to bring Sakura with him, and you with me. Are you up for it?" She asked, and Sonick nonchalantly rolled his eyes, "No! I will not go with you!" He said sarcastically, and she laughed; she always like his sarcasm and sense of humor.
"Okay, can you pick me up around six thirty?" Solace asked, and Sonick nodded, "No problem. See ya then." Solace waved at her friend, and walked out of the classroom without another word.
Sonick rubbed his face and temples, and growled, "I'm gonna kill him."
Later that day, Naruto arrived at his own apartment, and removed his sandals. He let out a sigh and sat down on his sofa. As he sat down, a knock sounded at his door, and he sat back up to open it.
"Coming, hold on." He said, and he quickly answered the door. His brother stood there, with a slightly pissed look on his face, and Naruto stifled a laugh, "What's with the long face?"
Sonick rolled his eyes, "Ha, ha, ha, very funny. Why didn't you tell me ahead of time that there was going to be a date tonight?"
Naruto ushered his brother in, and sat down with him on the sofa, "Because, if I told you ahead of time, you would've blabbered your mouth off like a puppy."
Sonick sighed, "What am I going to do? I can't even ask her out on a date on my own. I have to have my OWN brother do it for me."
Naruto laughed, and put a playful arm around his younger brother's shoulders, "Don't worry about it. The reason I did it as well, is that tonight we can both have the opportunity to ask Sakura and Solace to the Valentine's Day Festival."
Sonick's eyes lit up, and he turned to look at Naruto, "The Valentine's Festival? I can't ask her to that, it'll be oblivious that I love her!" Naruto stood, and opened the door, folloewd by Sonick.
"That's why you are going to ask her, if you don't, I'm putting the bill on you." Naruto joked, and Sonick had the door slammed on him.
Sonick let out a few grumbles, "Bastard..."
