What even was the added Naruto and Sakura material in all of this? Can you even call cutting out an abysmal dialogue of original an added content? That would be oxymoron.

EDIT: okay, I've refreshed my memory with quick re-reading, and honestly, those dialogues were nice addition to Sakura's character, but through out so many years, its quite sad. 

Its a Naruto vs Sasuke final battle rematch fight before Naruto becomes Hokage. Since Salad was just born that means they have actually contradicted the old established Naruto's inauguration. As he was knocked out by the daughter and Kakashi was still Hokage when Mirai was a genin 6 years before her side story. Even then it was constantly implied that Naruto had only recently became Hokage. Now he has been Hokage for most of Bolt's life.

 

Problem is, a better fight is nice, but it doesn't fix anything. Being a Hokage longer doesn't mean anything unless he does some reforms like he was suppose do. Which if they keep to Boruto, he cannot do. Not only that but its been 13 years since the ending when it comes out.

 

This is too little a fix at too late time for addressing the issues with the franchise. While he probably always wanted to expanded upon the final battle. As it was clearly rush due to him needing to end it before chapter 700. That should have been done years ago. Preferably before The Anime went with the gag inauguration, twice.

 

The only way for any revival or fix to work is something drastic and eye catching. It not like it would take long to make a better story than Ikemoto's Boruto. It would only take about 3 years to make a manga better and longer than his. Due to how little of story he has made over the past decade. But Kishimoto doesn't have the spine for that. This is too safe and will be either rejected or accepted but forgotten afterwards. It is plugging holes on a sunk ship.

Presented unfinished drafts, especially funny - how its exactly main 3, nowhere it is "new heroine" or anything related to that in those. And the suffix of "shadow rising" supposed to be a double play or something? Like both road to hokage and new threat implied?

Looking at Kishimoto's work after og ending, it was what? Gaiden, that kittens on Sakura, where main question was "did Sasuke really cucked Sakura?" and a throwaway bad guy on part with boruto's desings, the last, where Kishimoto couldn't figure out if he's the one who wrote story or not, hokage chapter that just mocked Narutos original goal for a gag and Minato anniversary one shot, apart from those it was 8 samurai that didn't take off, and that landed him back on supervising Buruto part 2?. From all those works, only Minatos chapter felt right, maybe because it was about already established (and deceased) characters, or he had to look through what he wrote to back in the day to make it read right, but that was good chapter.

In all other cases it was either poor writing in general or another nail in characters he wrote in main story. I see alot of people hope that this retcons Boruto, and while I agree, Buruto is generally a thing that should not be, a blatant cashgrab attempt, what would retconing it do? If the ending of Naruto is not rewritten/expanded in drastic ways, all main faults stay in places. Honestly don't see any point in this, apart from anniversary and another alley oop for revenue, from people that grow up with Naruto and would now be able to read something new about it, thats not both, bad quality and disrespectful to OG source like Boruto is.

Granted for my summaries that's somewhat because I used nicknames for new characters. But largely it comes down to there is just nothing interesting happening. Every month the chapter does not leave one eager for the next chapter. It is just constantly spinning its wheels. Even if one was interested eventually they will be worn down by the tedium.

 

Bleach is able to bounce back due to a great adaptation of a decent arc. Even if they tried to do that same for this...I want to say it won't work, but some people will just watch anything.

What I mean is, usually sequel or continiation of same universe goes in one of two directions:
- Direct sequel, that uses same logic and in-universe laws of things/powers/characters, maybe with some slight additions, so reader can mostly jump back in and don't feel lost.

- Stand alone continuation, new cast, new logic of how things operate with minor drops or references to original work, so if new reader is in - they don't need to buy 60 volumes of previous work to know plotlines or why things happening in this story.

Granted, in manga 2nd type of story is rather rare, but it does happend, most recent one is Fire Brigade. With Naruto/Burito situation, 70 volumes of original story, where one of main themes was Naruto trying to change system and break cycle that caused suffering and wars, so logical question would be, what is sequel about? If main character of original story succeeded - does sequel changes genre? No, its still a battle shonen, does that mean main character on original work dies, and just passes torch to next generation? No, he's alive... just not main character anymore? Even more so, now its not a story about ninjas, now there is cybors, aliens, clones (yes, they were in original too, but it was deus ex machina even there).

So all in all, while changing from ninja-magic theme to some proto-sci-fi, inventing some bland new cast, while dragging old cast throught the mud, this manga doesn't really land any idenity on itself. Granted thats an observation of person that never read any chapter, only from description and reviews of chapters in here or elsewhere.

Its kind of werid, how irrelevant naruto as franchise has become, reading those chapter descriptions, you woudn't guess whats going on, albeit without old names mentioned, literaly everything else feels like a fanfic creation. Even bleach got reviewed in popularity due to last arc getting anime adaptation.

No, in 2014 at Jumpfesta he said Sakura was his favorite in another interview later on Hinata was his favorite.

 

Being Kishimoto's favorite character is a meaningless phrase as he changes it constantly and it mainly to appease the person asking the question.

 

The reason that event was important is that it was when Kishimoto was giving constant interviews trying to justify the ending and come with more explanations/excuses to see which one the fans would accept. With someone, Junko, finally having enough of it and telling him to drop it.

I remember that clownfest cascade of interviews, "Hinata was planned end game since the start" "Sakura would be bad if she switched", shoked Junko, creators of The Last that wasn't familiar with story of Naruto, what a weird time and bunch of news it was.

Out of curiosity, what is good about Sakura, as person that follows PoS that Sasuke is? Because 99% of time people hated on her exactly because how she acted out of her mind around him.

So basicly even "death" of Naruto that was one of big "things" this was selling a major point, didnt happend, he got sealed? What about that superubergiga mode that burned his chakra AND life away? It got retconed or what?

Its a problem with writters of shonen, Kubo did same with Ichigo, skipping part where mc and his opinion actually mattered to a pairing that was only possible if you really develope it. 

The same thing don't  diminish a rival pairing just because you hate them... Calling Sakura's feelings for Sasuke shallow is just denial at this point.

 

Feelings of what? At what part did her feelings went above "tee-hee crush on a coolest guy my best friend had a crush on"? Did she ever brought what she liked about him?

Yeah, nothing like a taste of OC Sasuke acting as protector of Sakura, cool story, a cherry on top of Boruto. Even a closer-to-kishimoto look, time to drag Sakura throught another "they are happy together, she fixed him" story for her. 

Idk if somebody was expecting general changes in story, I for one wasn't, if anything original movie shoudn't exist.
