Why are people taking this so seriously? I know it sucks that the "Official ending" isn't what we wanted but Kishi already showed throughout the entire war that this Epilouge is impossible and completely OOC.
Sasuke:
He had Sasuke literally say things like "You want me to play at romance? I have no reason to like her and she has no reason to like me." and talking about how Naruto is his only friend, the only person left he has a bond with, and if he kills him he'll be all alone. Not to mention calling her useless and saying (and showing) multiple times he couldn't care less if she died.
Sakura:
Her fake smile for Sasuke returning, the fact that durning the entire time Naruto was dying (even when Madara, Obito, and Black Zetsu were all standing in front of her with Naruto unconsious) she never once even though about Sasuke. Consistently showing she cared more about Naruto's dreams (even after Sasuke said he was going to be Hokage she still supported it as Naruto's dream that she believed in) and opinions (when Sasuke said he didn't care if she died she looked sad, when Naruto started to agree she looked horrified), as well as believing in him more (when both Naruto and Sasuke were fighting Obito and Naruto started unconsciously healing Shikamaru, she said something like "You should leave this to us, and focus on what only you can do."). Then there's when her and Obito were trying to save Sasuke from Kaguya's dimension. After she got hit by the acid and Obito told her to take a break, her reason for not doing that was "We can't waste this chance Naruto gave us." (instead of "we have to save Sasuke no matter what.) Obito even commented on it. And then of course Kakashi saying her fellings for Sasuke were different than back in the day (when she openly loved him) and "Sakura's not trying or wanting to make you hers! She only wants to save you!".
Naruto:
Telling his dead dad she was his girlfriend, telling him his love life wasn't going well but HE WAS STILL TRYING HIS BEST (yet doesn't even try after 698) (if it was Hinata he wouldn't be having problems considering she's obsessed with him). A Databook that just came out on Tuesday (made by Kishi) that says Naruto still loves Sakura. Bringing up the POAL before he fought Sasuke, having a conveniently placed flash back (Sakura fangirling over Sasuke, with Naruto standing back looking upset) when he's thinking about losing to Sasuke and wanting to beat him.
The characters in 699/700 clearly aren't the ones he's been writing for the past 15 years over 698 chapters. He went out of his way to make that perfectly clear by having Naruto of all people making his son feel lonely and neglected, and then telling him to deal with it and suck it up. That completely goes against the point of the first chapter with Iruka, along with Naruto's character itself. On top of that he went out of his way to make it ridiculous and even add in NS/SK hints:
Garaa's hair, fat Anko, ChojixKarui (who have never been shown to have met or have anything in common, not to mention being from different villages) and they're weird kid, Sai ending up with someone he thinks is ugly and having a creppy alien kid, Naruto's odd kids (especially the daughter), and then the fact that Sakura looks more like Kushina than ever (he made her and Naruto the same height as MK and gave her Kushina's bangs in "The Last" and even gave her the hair clip in the Epilouge) and SS's kids looks like Karin.
Add all of that to the fact that he says he had to "sorrowfully" "accept" this ending (you don't have to accept your own story) and "Nevertheless, I'm able to speak clearly." blatantly shows he was forced to make an ending he didn't want (NH/SS) hence why he went out of his way to make it impossible in recent chapters, make all the characters OOC, added in NS/SK hints, and even sabatoged them by making all of the horrible character designs for the kids that they'll have to use for Part 3 now.
We may not have won the "official ending" and it sucks, but it's clear it's not the ending he wanted and that he was forced to "accept" it. Most likely SP (for the movie) and whoevers making Part 3 wanted to continue it from a NH/SS ending and forced to do it. Even then he went out of his way to make it as stupid and ridiculous as possible, to show the fans we shouldn't take it seriously. Regardless of what he was forced to make, we should be happy with the fact that (from all 698 chapters of the manga, the hints left in the Epilouge, and Kishi's words showing he disappointed about this NH/SS ending) NS was clearly intended to be end game by Kishi.
There's no reason to bash the characters (who were purposefully made OOC), Kishi (who had to "accept" this and didn't like it), or the series (no reason to let 44 pages and a movie ruin a 698 chapter, 15 year old series just because the author was forced to change his ending). Just view 699/700 as non canon and be happy that Kishi (the creator and author) is unhappy with a NH/SS ending and intended it to be NS.

Just thought I'd repost this for anyone that wants to find some happiness out of all of this and look at the situation logically:

-Sasuke willing to cut her in half to get to Madara.
-Sasuke calling her useless (again).
-Sasuke saying he couldn't care less if she died.
-Sakura looking sad when Sasuke says it, yet looking like she just got slapped when Naruto started to agree.
-Sasuke not even trying to save her or Kakashi from the lava.

SS literally couldn't be shown anymore dead than that. And from Naruto we've got:

-Make Sai's kid look like some freaky alien.

-Has most people in the epilogue seem unhappy or depressed.

Now match all of that up with his interview saying he had to "accept" the ending, that it brought him "sorrowful" feeling, and "Nevertheless, I'm able to speak clearly.".
It seems pretty darn obvious that SP (who are making the movie with him) and whoever the heck is making Part 3 wanted to continue from a NH/SS ending and forced him into it. Yet even so, he still continued to write it the way he wanted to up until 698, and then purposefully made the NH/SS epilogue overly disappointing and ridiculous to show the fans that it's not the way he wanted it to go.

What I'm trying to say is that Kishi was pushed or forced into making a NH/SS ending that he didn't like, then purposefully made it overly ridiculous with NS/SK hints in it. From that, logic, and the first 698 chapters of the manga itself make it clear that NS was intended to be end game but was forcibly changed for the ending. Tbh guys, I'm going to wait for the end of the countdown. I know it's denial and I'll probably end up disappointed again but with rumors circulating the countdown (such as some interview with Kishimoto) I think I'm going to wait it out. No matter what, I refuse to believe that SJ would actually publish something of this quality.

SJ are probably the ones that made him do it (along with SP for the movie). Whoever's making Part 3 must've wanted to continue it from a NH/SS end and Kishi had to "accept" it even though it brought him "sorrowful" feelings. That's most likely why he made the last to chapters so ridiculous to show the fans who know the actual story that it's not the way he wanted to end it.

Agreed. It's obviously not what Kishi had been building up to. He literally just killed SS on both sides a few chapters ago (multiple times from Sasuke), yet they're canon in the epilogue? I think it's obvious SP (for the movie) and whoever's doing Part 3 wanted to continue it with NH/SS, so they forced him to end it that way. That's we we get his statement saying he had to "accept" the final story, that it brings "sorrowful" feelings, and "Nevertheless, I'm able to speak clearly." "Nevertheless" being important. It's pretty clear this isn't the ending he wanted, and obvious from manga chapters 1-698 not what he was building up to. That's why he went out of his way to kill SS off before the end to show how stupid it becoming canon is. It's also probably the reason why he screwed with the series (Garaa's hair, ChojixKarui's kid, Sai's alien kid, Naruto's kids, Naruto of all people making his son feel lonely and neglected, just to tell him to sick it up, the whole epilogue itself seeming depressing ect.) Now whoever makes Part 3 has to use these designs and go off of this ending. It seems like his final revenge for them making him scrap his ending to a 698 chapter series he's worked on for 15 years.
Even then he leaves in NS/SK hints. Sakura looks more like Kushina than ever (in "The Last" she's the same height and gets her bangs, and in the epilogue she even gets the hair clip), and SS's kid looks like Karin.
All of this makes it pretty clear to see this isn't Kishi's intended ending and makes it easy to consider 699/700 non canon. In which we get left with the other 698 chapters (along with the hints from Sakura in "The Last" and the epilogue) which make it clear NS was meant to be end game up until the very end.
