This was my face the entire time reading this. Glad to have someone like you in the NS fandom writing stuff like this.

"He forgot to make Boruto & Himawari have Byakugan."
Yeah sure you did, Kishimoto. This guy does not care at all or he is intentionally sabotaging his own work because editors and SP have basically taken control of his series and he's making sure no one continues supporting Naruto. This kitten is getting funnier by the day, though.

This is so good tricksie; another fantastic job. I love the title of your fic because as you said many times before, those are Naruto's last, true, and honest words to Sakura and in the manga. To be honest, just reading what you wrote here would be perfect on its own, but I am excited to see the rest and I know it will be something great.

My 699-700 Rant
I've been acting like an idiot on these forums ever since the spoilers for 699-700 were first shown. I've been pretty bitter these past weeks, bashing and cursing Kishi's decisions over the ending. While my statements were what I truly felt, I do regret writing it in a very immature way. Now with all the time that has passed, I think I can rant a little more coherently and maturely than I have the last two weeks.
Overall this rant will focus on my frustrations on NH/SS being canon and I hope it doesn't come off as too negative. I really need to get this off my chest because this has been really bothering me and I feel if I write this out I can move on from this ending on focus more positively on the pairing that really made me appreciate this series in the first place.
This is the NaruSaku Debate Thread so I felt that I needed to object the pairings of NH/SS and why I feel that they are so flawed and why I refuse to acknowledge them as something positive to all the characters involved.
Something to note: I have never participated in pairing wars and to this day have never felt the urge to bash people who may like NH/SS. So, please understand that I am not criticizing/bashing the people who may like these pairings, but I will criticize the pairing themselves. This is my honest opinion on this matter so hopefully I don't offend anybody out there reading this.
The one thing I question from all this is what the hell did you do to Sakura, Kishimoto? Is Sakura suppose to be this strong female character who has been shown to have a fiery temper, confident in her abilities, and a very strong resolve or is she this submissive, weak-minded girl every time she is surrounded by Sasuke?
It’s very sickening to see now because honestly I was expecting a big payoff from all those panels of Sakura looking so dejected from all those insults Sasuke was throwing around during the war arc. The only time in Part 2 that I remember Sakura ever acting out on Sasuke was when Sasuke said something very disparaging to Naruto during the Land of Iron. Seeing this for the first time gave me some hope that Sakura would at least show some of her temper toward Sasuke for all the BS that he has put her and Naruto throughout the series. 693 should’ve been the chapter where Sakura did this and really moved on from any romantic feelings she had for Sasuke. Those few panels before her second confession (which was just a rehashed version of Part 1’s confession) gave me some hope that Sakura was now indeed fed up with Sasuke but was left utterly disappointed with the end results. With 700, it doesn’t seem to me that Sakura is no longer this strong woman. There is no reason now to have that Kushina parallel anymore because that was something meant for NS. I can’t see her acting in this manner with her husband and child.
As for Sasuke, I will make this quick. I did not like the way Sasuke was handled in Part 2 at all. All the convoluted stuff that Kishi had to shoehorn and make up along the way to keep Sasuke as this tragic anti-hero was just embarrassing as a fan to witness. The whole Uchiha clan love way too much and Sasuke becoming an incarnation of Indra (Along with Naruto as Ashura) were just stupid plot devices to keep Sasuke relevant to Kishi and ham-fist him into this final battle with Naruto. And the whole poke to the forehead scene in 699 was so tacky and OOC from Sasuke that is not even worth criticizing on because just a couple chapters before we had Sasuke proclaim his sound reasoning as to why would Sakura even have feelings for him in the first place and vice versa.
Overall this pairing is just a mess and I saw no positive development of this pairing from Kishimoto.
Naruto, as an MC, has been given the worst handed to him in my opinion in this ending. We never get to see how exactly he becomes the Hokage. He is depicted as a negligent father. He doesn’t get with the one who he truly loves. He doesn’t get any real focus at all in chapter 699 and his presence in 700 did not impress me at all. One of the things that baffle me is why would Kishi show Naruto being this kind of person to his family, when in my eyes, I could never see Naruto being this neglectful after living the majority of his life alone with no family. It really confuses me that Kishi could depict Naruto in this way. To me, this is just set up for Part 3 (which again, will have no interest in picking up) and is just another cheap way to continue this series.
Hinata well there isn’t much to say because of all the characters mentioned she is the only one to be classified as a side character. She is a very one-dimensional character who only purpose in the entire series is to show that she has romantic feelings for Naruto. Her moments to me were always overshadowed by Sakura. Hinata confession during Pain Arc then came NaruSaku Hug at the end of Pain Arc. Naruto/Hinata holding hands then came the CPR scene where Sakura saves Naruto's life. My biggest criticism of her and her missed potential is Kishi’s complete abandonment of her relationship with the Hyuuga clan, which is non-existent in Part 2. With this timeskip, Kishi didn’t even bother to show if the branch members even carry the Hyuuga curse seal anymore or if she’s even the leader of her clan which she might not be by the way she is depicted in 700.
Really don’t have much else to say but this pairing makes no sense just from lack of chemistry that both Naruto and Hinata have with each other and Naruto’s complete disinterest in her as a romantic interest for the rest of the series.
I feel like I just scratched the surface with my rant. There is so much to discuss but I don’t want sound too hateful and angry with the series because there were many things that I liked in the series. I liked some of the battle scenes, the NS interactions, the unique cast of characters throughout the series. But this ending was very disappointing to me. NS not becoming canon especially is something that deeply disappointed me.
I don’t want to criticize anymore. The thing to focus now is on NaruSaku. There is a reason why I ship them and only them. I never really felt something like this before for a fictional pairing and is something that I just can’t abandon. I know now that I can’t depend on Kishi anymore for real closure on this wonderful pairing. Having read some Alternate Endings, I am glad to see the community continuing doing fantastic work and the incoming fan art as well. I want to contribute as well, I don’t know yet how I will do it, but I know when the day comes to show it off, I hope to make NS fans smile.

We could make a poll out of this...
How many times will Hinata say Naruto-kun in the movie?
1-10
10-20
20-30
And so forth.
Yes, let's do that.

Are there seriously people here bothering the assistant?
I have no clue. The majority of people who send him messages through twitter are NH/SS fans thanking him and Kishi for making them canon. If anything Naruto fans in general are "bothering" him asking questions he should not know because he's not Kishi. I think it's a waste of time to even focus on this assistant.

So what were the red flags for you guys on the series going "wrong"?
On October 5 when it was announced that Naruto would be ending in 5 weeks. When that was announced, I was very confused and worried as to how Kishi would be able to wrap up everything in a very satisfying manner in 5 chapters. Turns out he didn't, and we got a very poor and rushed ending.

Did you even bother to read chatte's The Last theory thread.
Of course I did, it did raise my hopes a tiny bit but last week was so disappointing that I don't have any positive expectations from Kishi or SP.

Did anyone read this review on 699? I felt like what this reviewer said was spot on. Also glad that this guy gets that the Sasuke OOC was just really stupid.
http://www.animevice...99-review/6613/
Hopefully we see more critical reviews like this.
EDIT: Might as well quote this excerpt from the review
"Many year ago in the early years of NARUTO, Kishimoto once talked openly in an interview about how he wasn't good at drawing heroine characters. After 15 years, his artistic skills may have improved, but his writing certainly hasn't. More especially when it comes to writing romance. Sasuke has done little else throughout this series but abuse Sakura both physically and emotionally. In some cases, both at the same time -- that genjutsu attack a couple weeks back. Yet we as the audience are suppose to just accept that Sasuke apologizes, taps her on the forehead, and all is forgiven? You have got to be kidding me. That really is TWILIGHT levels of romance writing there."

Something that I saw that I have to agree with. Credits to the Sage for this post.
"People who spent 15 years of their life are entitled to their opinions when they feel that they have been let down. Honestly, if he (Kishi) knew where it was ending he should have taken the steps necessary so that when that ending arrived people could see how he got there.
If he knew Sasuke was going to be redeemed then what was the point of having him go on a berserker rampage during the 5 Kage summit? If he knew NaruHina was going to be the pairing then why didn't he show some development towards it after she confessed? If we are to believe that SasuSaku was the destined pairing for these characters then why waste our time showing Sakura's growing concern and understanding for Naruto as the story progressed? Why have Sasuke basically state he feels nothing for her a few chapter before they are practically married off?
If the ending worked for you that's great, and I'm truly happy you enjoyed it. In fact I didn't comment below because I didn't want to infect your happy thoughts with my negative ones. But those of us that are disappointed invested just as much time in the story, and it let us down, and it isn't thinking that we are entitled to state as much. I still enjoy aspects of story, and I love the characters, but in the end, it doesn't feel like the author did because he shoehorned in an ending just because he settled on it in the beginning and then wiped away all the progress that was made before he then jumped 10 or 15 years to force people to accept it.
I mean a thought that occurred to me is that if you truly think about it, for the most part the 3 years between Part 1 and all the events of Shippuden didn't even need to happen. Shippudden was just a waste of time and it could be said this ending was just a What If story of: What if Naruto managed to succeed in bringing back Sasuke at the first Valley of the end. Everything else could just have been considered a dream, because truthfully neither Naruto or Sakura grew from beyond the Sasuke obsessed people they were in part one. The same could be said for Kishimoto, and that is why the story failed for me."

I can guarantee you that the NaruHina Uzumaki household is and will be nothing like this.

I just don't picture Hinata as a strict mother and Naruto acting like Minato here. He seems to have lost himself as he grew up. And what was that crap about Bolt asking for his "Aunt Ino" to help his stomach ache? You're telling me his own mother can't solve that problem? This is just a mess on all fronts. This new family just seems so dysfunctional.

Final farewells from me.
I have always liked this site and the debate thread. So many wonderful discussions about this pairing that I have written and read from the great users here. This whole day just seems like one big nightmare but I have to accept it. Somewhere along the way Kishi just gave up on NS and I don't want to speculate what caused him to make this change but all I know that it was not a good decision.
If one day I find out that Kishi regretted not making NS canon I will have to just laugh. Just shake my head and laugh at him for not doing the things he was suppose to do in the first place. The Obito/Rin, Minato/Kushina, and Jiraiya/Tsunade all seem like pointless things now that Kishi should've never even wrote about. Why focus on the NS relationship in the first place, why all the teases? Why have these parallels that won't amount to nothing in the end? Why have Naruto fall in love with Sakura in the first place and have it drag on for over 600 chapters?
I can no longer follow the series into the new era project. I can't even imagine how future Naruto/Sakura interactions are going to play out. It would seem so fake and OOC that it would be a pain to even look at. This simply depreciates the characters of Naruto and Sakura.
I feel so bitter right now, but I will calmly move on from this. Hopefully my spark for NS will come back one day and I'll be able to come back here with no negative emotions, but the fact that NS will never be canon is just very disheartening and demotivating.

Naruto has to be one of the most humiliated and poorly handled MCs in a long time. After that hyperventilation and Karui beating the crap out of him and this is what he gets? It's so repulsive.
