There is one thing I really hate in stories whether it be manga's, romance novels, or anything of the sort. This somewhat deals with NaruSaku, but then again doesn't

Whenever there is a love triangle this is how it is.

A girl who is kind, but at times is a bit of a jerk. Sometimes, for comical reasons, either hits or abuses one character usually Boy #2. She is in love with Boy #1 who is popular, but also that same boy either neglect's her, insults her or even in some cases even abuses her.

You then have Boy #1 who is the girl's crush. He is popular, handsome, but also a jerk to females. He occasionally abuses the girl who is in love with them, but she takes it as him being hard to get. Sometimes he even insults her.

Boy #2 does love the girl. He is does everything for her even save her life on multiple occasions. Probably even from Boy#1 who can be the villain of the story. He also stays with her, protects her, sometimes teases her, but playfully. He also even romantically woes her, but she doesn't take it as such.

Now this is what pisses me off, after all the things Boy #2 does, she ends up going with Boy #1 because in one single moment through out the entire thing. He finally does something nice for her.

Now, I can understand that you should always follow your heart no matter what, but really? How many of you girls would go with the guy who abuses you all the time rather than go with the guy who truly does love you?

Hmm, I can't think of a manga where the feisty girl choses the abusive guy over the goofy romantic seductive guy. You don't really see it in romance novels either since women took over the romance publishing companies in the mid 1980's. It's still a theme in soap operas, but those shows aren't really about love anyway- no relationship lasts, etc... I don't like them, nor did my mom- for the same reason, and she did and I do read romance novels fairly regularly (both of us with preferences for certain authors- Susan Wiggs historicals being my favorites because her romantic male leads are very much Gamma males- your type 2 guy, and the women are intelligent, strong and passionate Gamma females. Wiggs is also is quite authentic in detail in her historical romances and writes quite a bit about social issues of the time periods of her historicals- class inequality in all historical periods, religious conflict during the Tudor period, the Victorian women's rights movement, etc... (I can tell she's done some serious researching before she writes her historicals, being a social history geek myself...)

Sounds loosely like Twilight? No? Gah, I didn't read 'em anyway.

I see what you're saying, though. It's sad when a girl is so blinded by a crush that she doesn't notice someone who loves her that has always been there. Or, even if she notices, she still chooses the popular and shallow one. I feel like this happens more in real life than in anime/manga, although retrospectively I haven't watched/read too many.

Hopefully that will not be the case for Kishimoto's manga.
Three things I can't help but agree with --Click here to view--
“If you love somebody, let them go. If they return, they were always yours. If they don't, they never were.”

“Love me when I least deserve it, because that's when I really need it.”

“I miss you when something really good happens, because you are the one I want to share it with. I miss you when something is troubling me, because you are the one who understands me so well. I miss you when I laugh and cry because I know that you are the one that makes my laughter grow and my tears disappear. I miss you all the time, but I miss you most when I lay awake at night and think of all the wonderful times we spent with each other; for those were some of the best times of my life.”

Couldn't get into it, just didn't appeal to me, watched an episode of the anime, and went nah, not interested.

Looked at the wikipedia article on it, and the mangaka didn't really have much say in the story- it was basically plotted by a committee at Nakayoshi. Very untypical for a manga.
