No additional signs of N. Korean missile launch: Defense Ministry

It looks like the exhausting military stand-off between North Korea and its neighbors may be entering a new phase, with South Korean President Park Geun-hye having said she is open to dialogue and U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry arriving in Seoul to defuse tensions.
But the question of when North Korea will launch its missiles remains, fraying the nerves of South Korea and other regional powers.
Seoul's Defense Ministry said no additional missile activities had been spotted on Friday but reiterated that the launch window is still open, at least until April 15th, the birthday of the country's founder Kim Il-sung.
Some experts say Saturday, is also a possibility since the day marks the first anniversary of Kim's appointment as the First Chairman of the National Defence Commission of North Korea.
Meanwhile, a North Korean propaganda organization released a statement on Thursday saying the missiles are on stand-by and the country is ready to strike its enemies.
Responding to the latest threat, Defense Ministry Spokesman Kim Min-seok said South Korea will remain calm but strong.

"North Korea's launch of ballistic missiles is a provocation towards the international community and South Korea. We do not want Pyongyang to launch the missiles, but the military is preparing countermeasures at various levels in case they're fired."

The spokesman also downplayed the significance of a U.S. intelligence report that said North Korea has the capability to make a nuclear warhead small enough to fit on a ballistic missile.
He said that the South Korean military is skeptical that Pyongyang has the technology to miniaturize a nuclear weapon, although it looks like the country is still working toward that goal.
