Dude whatever happened to the future generation surpasing the past generation. If you take out Naruto, and probably Shikamaru and and Chouji, the past generation would totally kick the current gen's arse, One of the main foundations of the manga seems to be forgotten, if there is something this current arc has shown is how there were some amazing ninja's in the past, The first Hokage with his ability, and then Madara, and even Gaara's father...don't care what the manga showed bt Golddust is more powerful that regular sand.
The power of the first Hokage always seems to jump another level whenever he gets mentioned, it's like those chinese whispers tales, he started off with the ability to use wood release then the power of the seperate elements came in, then the scale at which he could use them powers came in, and after a few iterations he became a super powerful man who can make trees, plants, heal himself and not even use seals.
Madara did bring up a a good point though when compared to the First Hokage, and even the Kage's beside her she does appear weak, we have the Raikage with his Strength, speed and lightning ability, Kazekage with sand release, Tsuchikage with his triple element dust release and flying ability, and then finally Mizukage with her dual bloodline, now compare this to Tsunade who has super strength and healing abilty, but no element power that we've seen so far, her super strength has been made less impressive thanks to the Raikage and his lariat and now her healing abilty has been made to look weak compared to her own grandfather. I expect Tsunade to win somehow, but damnit it pisses me off how Tsunade is made to look once again.
The more new information we find out about the past generation, the more certain I am that Kishimoto is planning some sort of prequel. (Maybe not a Naruto-canon-length one, but maybe a few years of mixing past stories with future epilogue stuff.) He is developing these old characters so much, and just before they die. It makes no sense. And the future generation has gotten next to zero development except for a very few.
I cannot fathom why Kishimoto's spending time introducing more character histories and development at this stage in the story unless he's planning on revisiting that past generation in a prequel.
At this point, for story cohesion, the action, drama and development should center around the cast of characters introduced at the beginning. We should be seeing each one of the 12 as coming into their own on the battlefield with flashbacks, etc. Instead, Kishimoto is continuously fleshing out the older characters, introducing history and storylines just for the sake of resolving them.
To me, it all points to prequel. (Which is good business, anyway.)
As for Tsunade, did anyone else get the feeling of foreshadowing when Mei said it was a tactic to eliminate the medic first? What a weird thing to say otherwise! Tsunade's there because she's a Kage, not a medic, so she's no more likely to be targeted than any of the rest of them, thankyouverymuch.
I've always disliked Itachi because of all the ways he helped turned Sasuke into laughing psycho boy. I think this chapter just adds to that. It's not enough that he messed up Sasuke in life, he is finding out that he can keep piling on the pain after death!
I'm starting to doubt that Sasuke was saved because Itachi loved him. More like, Itachi wanted to keep around a toy to abuse and use for amusement.
Yeah, I've always doubted the Madara/Itachi story. I think there's more to Itachi saving him than just brotherly love. And I think both Madara and Itachi know more about the history of the Uchiha than they let on. But lol, sometimes I think Itachi just wanted to tortue him too! After all, he earned his place in Akatsuki on his own merit. So he's pretty much a psychopath in his own right!
