QUOTE
Colby Curtin, a 10-year-old girl suffering from terminal vascular cancer, told her mom that she wanted to live to see Pixar's Up. But before she could visit the theater, her condition became too unstable for her to be moved. Colby's family called Pixar, guessed a name of an employee to break through the automated operator and explained the situation to the first person they reached. A Pixar employee flew out immediately with a DVD, toys and posters in hand. From the OC Register:
Colby couldn't see the screen because the pain kept her eyes closed so her mother gave her a play-by-play of the film.

"Do you think you can hang on?" Colby's mother said.

"I'm ready (to die), but I'm going to wait for the movie," the girl replied.

At the end of the film, the mother asked if her daughter enjoyed the movie and Colby nodded yes, Lisa Curtin said.

Colby died later that evening, hopefully fulfilled in at least some small way.

It's a heartbreaking story to hear, but glad to see her wish was fulfilled. *manly tears* Much kudos to Pixar for being able to do this for her. Really touching and glad to see some good out in the world.

Also, if you were in a similar situation what movie would you see? I'd probably watch one my all time favorites Gladiator.

I'd probably ask to see a comedy like Liar Liar. XD

Sad, but at least Pixar granted her wish. She's in a better place now. smile.gif

Truly sad that she died.

But she got to see the movie. I'm sure I don't need to congratulate Pixar because their actions speak louder then words.

What a bittersweet ending. shamefulcry0js.gif

While Pixar made the movie, it was the employee that really came through. More people in this world have good hearts than you sometimes realize.

As last movies go, I think I'd pick The Transformers movie. Stan Bush's "The Touch" is definitely the right song to go out on.

Aww.... That's quite cool, kudos to the employee! I'd go see NaruSaku couple together before I die, but for a movie....if there's a new Batman movie or currently, Transformers 2

When I first read about this, I was so close to tears. It's such a sad story with such a bittersweet ending... I'm so glad there are people out there who are kind enough to fulfill wishes to children like her.

The girl was pretty strong to be able to hang in there. It's really sad, but I'm glad that Pixar was about to meet her last wish.
