@james
Gohan is more powerful than goten and trunk is much more gift than their parents. Anyways we know that gohan is chichi son because he has her shy attitude and powerful anger explosion unlike burito. But db story always goes back to goku.
Another example are
Shaman king flower : this is sequel of shaman king featuring mc son who is better than him.
Kenshin : it's not sequel his son is already better than Kenshin himself.
Bleach : his son is already a shinigami at the age when ichigo lose his mother. It's not sequel.
You're talking about the kids that become better than the parents, but the examples you give are flawed.
Gohan was supposed to take over the family business, but after defeating cell he kind of got put to the DL. It was supposed to be Gohan, but everyone wanted Goku back, so Goku came back and became more powerful while Gohan decided to work on his studies. Even Vegeta remarks that Gohan was more powerful at 12 than he was now. So essentially Gohan got weaker. Goten did get farther than Goku at the same age, but he is still nowhere near Goku's power level now.
I don't know what you mean by bringing up Trunks though. Vegeta is far more powerful than any version of Trunks we have seen now. He is even more powerful than Goku now even with the Ultra Instinct.
Kenshin one I could argue since by the time he had a son, Kenshin's body began to degrade and he could no longer use his abilities due to the heavy taxing of the sword techniques. Plus, Yahiko was proven to be far stronger than him even if Kenji has a gift of picking up techniques just by watching them or something like that. I guess that's what you mean by stronger. Would Kenji end up being crippled even more later in life quicker than his father? Who knows. It's always described that eventually the body can't take the pressures anymore and supposedly Kenshin is invincible if he goes full Battosi at least that is what they make it seem like. If he had no qualms about killing and holding back. Would Kenshin be far more powerful than anything?
The Bleach one is also arguable in that Ichigio always had the power, but was kept away from it being unleashed because he wasn't exposed enough to bring it out. Remember, when Ichigo's son came Ichigo trained him himself to become a soul reaper right off the bat. This is the not the same for Ichigo who had no training til he was much older. Even Chad and Orihime had potential, but because of not being exposed or trained in their way younger selves it is kind of not a fair comparison.
Plus I noticed most of these examples are "They were more powerful when their parents were that age" and not say "They are more powerful than their parents even at maximum potantial." What I am talking about is not that Naruto at 14 is weaker than Boruto at 14. No, no. I am talking something more broken like Naruto at 35 is weaker than Boruto at 14-16 which they seem to be doing. Even Salad is becoming more powerful by breaking even more rules to how the Uchiha work with no reason, but then again Naruto was all about the flair and very little about the explanation.
How many of the offspring are going to maybe have a relapse and say become weaker like Gohan?
"Gohan is the strongest in the universe, but still doesn't do crap."
We’ve had the short clips of the characters being instructed by their parents, so it’s not like they automatically have these abilitys. It’s expected for any person to be able to use said clan abilities if their parents are their parents. That is the logic that everyone should be going with. Naruto’s talent vs hard work was like that because they were on the end of the era of no clan mixing. Since the story continues, our characters are bound to have kids with others, destroying that whole structure. It should be expected. That’s the point of the Hokage and Sasuke talking about the new generation. They have it a bit easier, but they are strong. They don’t just automatically know the jutsu. The basic clan jutsu are the only things that make the kids "op". These kids are working the necessary amount to know the jutsu. We had that whole episode of inojin trying to figure out what was wrong with his beast art. Inojin,Shikadai, and Chocho stated they were training together before they joined the academy because of their parents. I would agree that the kids are op if they were doing planetary devastation level stuff but they aren't. And yes Boruto has some new eye power but he can't even use it when he wants too or knows what it is.
Give it a wait. We see Naruto and Sasuke being the most powerful ninja by the time they hit 16 or so. How many want to bet that Boruto and Salad get to be far stronger in younger years?
I mean, don't you need to see an tramatic event before unlocking the Sharingan....so how did Salad unlock hers so easily?
"When a wielder of this kekkei genkai experiences a powerful emotional condition with regards to a person precious to them, their brain releases a special form of chakra that affects the optic nerves, transforming the eyes into Sharingan; for that reason the Sharingan is described as an "eye that reflects the heart.""
"Salad awakens Sharingan after meeting her father"
You know, we used to think it took seeing your best friend die to awaken this thing, but now just being pissed off enough awakens it.
Sasuke also needed to be trained on how to use the Sharingan by Kakashi to learn techniques from it. Want to bet that Salad knows it all by heart by now without training or anyone teaching her?
But whatever, do whatever they want....
