I don't know who this ramen guy is, but I popped the chomanga link into both Google's and Bing's translators.

Both translations do say that, yes, Sakura is #1 hated character by both Japanese men and women between ages 10-20. And yes, there are some that agree, while others complain about the results in the comment section below. But overall, this does, in fact, look like a real thing, so I would say this ramen person isn't as correct as you believe.

What's interesting is that guys love Hinata and the girls love Naruto, but in the hate catagory, they're both number 2 opposite genders. And even more interesting is that Sasuke is number four for the women beloved, but ALSO number five for hated as well.

Again you like to believe that Hinata is more loved than Sasuke and Kakashi in Japan, do you even see how much they advertise Sasuke in Japan? That poll makes no type of sense

Let's see if it makes sense :zaru:

Well tell me if you still think they're basically tied

Female hates Hinata in place 2. Good.

If anything I learned from other polls, women ruled the poll. And male with women, if they are little miss perfect, easy win.

Which really makes me wonder how Touka-chan won?

Why do the male readers love Tenten...?

i liked Tenten cause she is the only one who actually wants to be a ninja in a Goddamn ninja story.

I would have been completely fine without Narusaku. Even now I still debate on whether they should have actually gotten together or not, specifically because of Sakura's viewpoint and her undeniable attachment to Sasuke.

But for me, there was no grey area anymore. Especially once Kishimoto began to talk. That's when things really went downhill gradually.

It's not just that Narusaku didn't get canon, and that's what a lot of people don't understand. It's that Sakura's importance was erased, A side character became a main character at the end of the series, the finale was rushed, a movie that didn't tie with canon at all was supposed to "end" the story, all underdeveloped couples became canon, the rudeness of his assistants, and kishimoto admitting that he barely wrote his own story. Not to mention that he's letting other people write his so called "canon" now, as we speak.

So that's why I can't be a "moderate" fan anymore. I feel like we were all fooled by a guy and a company that executed a "legendary" story so horribly.

you know this is how i feel, too.

look at ichigo100 mangaka, explaining his ending in a serious tone and treating his characters with basic respect

spoiler for end pairings

and look at kishi

"i set minakushi as bait(laugh)"

"i was told sakura is terrible, by a child fan. the situation didn't improve when i tried, so i gave her up(laugh)"

"i was told hinata is popular(laugh)"

"i just followed studio's pierrot direction for the ending movie(laugh)"

I just noticed the target audience...

You know, seeing TenTen there only tells me nobody think of story. Just the design and at times, their concept, but not execution.

Yeah, that's why I saying they probably voted her on appearance preferences rather than actual character.

Which is sad because she was one of the unique characters. Yet Kishi can't write good.

Kishimoto is often full of kitten but it doesn't change the fact Sakura isn't very popular in Japan. She didn't make top 10 in popularity polls twice and barely made it a couple other times, scoring 9th or 10th. For a main character it's pretty terrible.

Recently there was also a poll published in Animage, Japan's first mainstream anime magazine (that's where Miyazaki's masterpiece Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind was published) that asked male and female Naruto readers which characters they liked and hated the most. Sakura topped the most hated polls for men and women alike.

Completely agree. I just wanted to emphasis that Kishimoto really is full of kitten. It was my personal failure of ignoring all of Sakura's issues just because I believed in her as the heroine. In the end, she was and still is a sh*tty character. I just wanted to cheer for her so badly, you know? I really thought she was changing all this time.

Lol maybe that too was nothing but a red herring.

Ever since I discovered this site late last year, I've been noticing... a lot of people have been knocking back the Haterade since the ending came out and things did not end with Naruto and Sakura getting together. Bakamoto this, "Hope SP burns" that, "Naruto is a scumbag," kittening Hinata, quitting Naruto FOREVER, and on and on and on.

Understood already, I get that. However, I want to hear more from the NaruSaku moderates, the folks that might have been disappointed things didn't end NaruSaku, but they're cool about it, or even happy it didn't end NaruSaku due to certain things that they wanted addressed first before that Ship came in. So, are there any folks on here that would self-identify as a Moderate Shipper? I want to know what they feel, are they keeping up with the spin-offs, tracking the interviews, etc.? Because I really want to have some discussions about some things, but obviously I'm a bit hestitant with the tone of the current postings here.

But Naruto is garbage with or without the ending, the 250 chapters before the ending were atrocious and a shining example of bad writing, the characters are unrelatable and dumb, the themes...well I don't know what the themes are they keep changing for the worst, put NaruSaku at the end and even toughit would make more sense than what we got Naruto would still be trash, logic and common sense have long left this manga.

I'm keeping up with the itws and spin off even tough I won't read them I'm just curious about their strategy to keep milking the Naruto franchise and so far I would say they are quite incompetent I can't believe these people are supposed to be professional but at the same time I would say they are a good reflection of the state of the Naruto manga so it explains a lot when the people behind the Naruto franchise are so stupid.

NS happen only make it good and right the romance aspect, but it will not save the story.

l was like that too tbf. For a long time l kept believing it was all a plan to make her change and make her final development all the more memorable, but roughly at the time of the Kage summit l had to admit this was it for her, there was no saving her character anymore.

lt's such a shame too because she was on the right tracks at the start of part 2 but then it all "undevelopped",she slowly went back to everything people hated about her in part 1. Then Kishimoto could draw all the scenes of her punching the ground really hard or looking like a model on volume covers the damage was done.

I'd say that all of the female characters suffered from underdeveloped writing, but get this:

At least Sakura had some screen time. One moment she's brave, another moment (whenever Sasuke is involved) she's weak. But unlike Sakura, Hinata barely showed up in the entirety of the manga. It was only at the very end of the series where she began to receive just as much screentime as Sakura. And then- out of the blue- she steals Sakura's role as heroine.

So I guess I really cheered for Sakura because she was the only heroine I could put faith in, but apparently I was wrong.

I'm not believing anything; I'm just pointing out that the poll itself may be more legitimate that originally thought. I would have to hunt down the original issue first to see for certain if that is how they voted -- I think it's dated January 2015--  and whether or not there are more polls involved -- it did say that was the poll response from the 10-20 year old crowd; I'd imagine there are older Naruto fans that have been there since day one, and a good polling would want to gather their thoughts as well, right?

It's quite irrelevant

A popularity poll shouldn't dictate how a story turns out

Anyway if Kishi had been doing his work right then I assure that the MC's of the storyline would be on top 5 always.

Well what those two websites say when translated is true to what the post says, but good luck finding the poll because it seems like it doesn't exist( I tried looking for it on the website and I can't find it)

I would assume that yes it's best to poll everybody regardless of age

I supported NaruSaku because that was the logical progression of the story. Sorry, had nothing to do with "shipping." If the logical progression of the story were NaruHIna/SasuSaku, I would just as easily have supported those.

By the way, I can go on for pages why I don't like the ending (or the Last) without once referencing romance.
