im pretty sure he can survive extraction :T kushina did cause she was an uzumaki, so naruto might too.

Wait no - didn't she die immediately? Or not *immediately*, but obviously within minutes of the Kyuubi's escape that same night.

No she survived it. she only died because she wanted to join Minato in the afterlife and wanted to see Naruto one last time because Minato was going to use the dead demon consuming seal. Even if Naruto loses the Kyuubi He will live but will be weak like Kushina was, although probably in better condition because Kushina had a double whammy with the extraction AND childbirth.

Actually he said she didn't die from her extraction, but she will die eventually. Its really the size of they're chakra, but after the extraction is complete they begin to loose chakra at an abnormal level.

But one of the above post was right, Kushina had to go through childbirth.

That's true that Kushina had the Kyuubi sealed within her, but unlike Naruto she held the Kyuubi within her and never used its chakra while Naruto has had it sealed within him since birth and he's grown up with it, it's become part of him. If Naruto had the Kyuubi extracted from him, there's a high chance he may survive the extraction, but his chakra system and network would be shot because he wouldn't have the Kyuubi in him and it's perhaps only a manner of time before he does die because he wouldn't have the other half of himself.

...well actually i always thought naruto was hyper-active all on his own. so im even if he didnt have the kyuubi in him im sure he will be fine with just his chakra

Actually The Kyuubi's Chakra isn't part of Naruto's own It just mixes with his own chakra due to the seal but yeah it is a major source of his strength at the moment so if he loses it he only has sage mode and sage mode can't be used for too long But if it happens I'd like for the Kyuubi to remain free and become Naruto's personal summon!
