OMG!? I can't believe no one restarted the ES21 thread!? Anywho, I've read the series since it first debuted in Shounen Jump! I used to play American Football in my free time, so naturally I loved the idea of a football manga! I haven't quite watched the anime yet, but I'm all on the manga! Currently ch124!

So here's my input on the whole thing so far! (Spoilers!)

Click For Spoiler
I loved how the character developement has gone so far, they've really shown how each person had grown to become stronger, and how they all unite together over time & training.

There are a few things I want to say about some characters:

Ishimaru: I totally think he's under-rated! And I feel so sorry for him for being such a good guy. I really hope he gets something good out of all of this.

Shin: At first, I thought he would ACTUALLY be Sakuraba's friend, like genuinely try to help and support him. But later on in the series, he ends up being the cold & brooding guy (I don't want to say antagonist, because he's not exactly a BAD person). Although I do find it funny later on, about how he constantly trains shirtless, and uses very unorthodox methods of training himself. But overall, I really would have liked him to actually BE Sakuraba's friend, and not as a "rival" more or less. But he does prove to be a good rival for Sena.

Sakuraba: OMG! I totally love how Sakuraba's character is really developing! I really like how he didn't exactly like how he was advertising himself, and through that he really became a strong person himself. The whole new look for him is pretty good, and I like how him and Takami are working together now.

Okay moving on with the story! OMG! Now that they are in the Christmas Bowl, it's getting pretty exciting (at least I think so)! And I can't believe Onihei's team actually lost, that was a REAL shocker for me. Because I though that Kyoshin's Posiden team were just punks acting badass, but indeed they are proving to be a big problem for the Devil Bats.

And of course, the REAL Eyeshield 21 is somewhere in the Tournament!? And is actually playing!? I have no clue, or even a guess on who it might be...

So if you haven't read it, GO READ IT! If you aren't into American Football, it's okay, you'll love it for the characters! And as for the pairings in that series, I don't really consider any pairings, simply because there are only like two females in the entire team (Mamori & Suzuna). So yay!

Again I totally agree with you there Hoku... I am waiting with bated breath for the next manga scanlation... Well Ishimaru is what they called the no presence guy as in the guy who nobody takes notice of... I really don't understand American football but after reading this manga and watching the anime I kinda get it now...So GO NFL!!! YA HA!

Yeah, I kind of saw that coming that Kakei was the only one able to really stop the Devil Bat Ghost. And probably Shin (with all his current training). But of course, who IS the real Eyeshield 21!?

I have no clue to whom it could, or might be.

I'm sure there's a variation fo the Ghost technique that Sena will come up with, or he'll notice a hole in Kakei's defense. What would really be a real surprise is if the Kakei VS ES21 (real one) situation happened again. The defense picks up its game once again, and by some chance someone will hold of Kakei just long enough (or Sena will break his speed of light, maybe an even higher level...) and just out run him.

Either way, I can't wait for the chapters to come out already!!!

Is the anime finished like completed? Or is it still on-going as well? Also is it caught up with the manga, or further? I was debating whether to download the anime, because I was unsure.

The last I know about the anime was that they just finished the Hell march across the desert to Las Vegas and Hiruma rigged the games somehow... sweatdrop.gif I have a feeling Hiruma knows who the real ES21 is or else he wouldn't suggest it in the first place.

OMG!!!! ES21 Update @ StopTazmo!!!

Click For Spoiler
omfg.gif I knew it! I knew Deimon would come out on top! And I am so excited to see that Sena is now learning to combine all of his experience together. But seeing Sena actually combine his Ghost run with the Spinning technique was something a little to be expected. lol, Doburoku-sensei called it the "Hurricane Ghost". XD

I like how that indeed the technique did get him past Kakei, and how it was pulled off so well, but also the fact that Sena loses 0.1 seconds in the initial spin. It just goes to show that he's not always invinvible, and that with each new move, there's always a slight weakpoint in it.

And now, they have to face SEIBU!? And now we meet Sena's "brother"!? That totally threw me off, but it was actually pretty nice to see that this guy isn't a mean person. I like the story of how he taught Sena to train in Speed, but I just hope that they dont end up becoming like super rivals or anything. I think it would be nice to actually have a friend in a match. That why they can put on a true battle of friendship on the field.

lol! The Deimon High Field Day was pretty funny, and how Yukimitsu & Mamori did their "transformation" was hilarious. I loved how they all came in dressed as gangsters.

And for that 3-legged race, when Riku looked at Sena. I think Sena either, has reaced Riku's speed level (being even), thus his surprised look. Or possibly Sena has gotten stronger, and may have surpasses Riku's expectations. Anyway, it will be a tough battle now for Sena to go up against Riku! I can't wait to see it!

Just read the current manga chapters and it was hilarious.. laugh.gif Mamoris' and Yukimitsu's transformation is priceless I tell ya and the fact that Hiruma will be using the 'transfomations' as blackmail material is is just soooo Hiruma  .... I certainly hope that Sena and Riku have a friendly rivalry going for them instead of the Shin/Sena competition of who's gonna beat who.. I have a feeling Mamori would suspect that Sena is more then a 'manager' for the football team with his participation of the mock calvary battle.

Click For Spoiler

The match between Seibu and Deimon is here... Riku knows that Sena is ES21 and declared him his arch rival by putting his pride on the line. Sena and Monta tries to get Musashi back into the team again and we'll see the early days of the Deimon Devilbats when we see the origianl 3(Hiruma, Kurita and Musashi) enter Diemon for the entrance exams and with cameos by Mamori and Yukimitsu... I can't wait for the next chapter. The ultimate showdown between the 2 speedsters and the 2 best quaterbacks in tokyo.

OMG!!!! YESH! The Ultimate Showdown!

Click For Spoiler
I really have no idea who I want to cheer for now. I really like both teams, and both Deimon & Seibu have a mutual respect (since the trip to America), so you can expect that both sides will fight to their fullest.

Special training to beat Kid's Shotgun, and now it's Riku vs Sena, and Hiruma VS Kid. Again I really don't know who to cheer on! Except fro Sena! XD

So I guess we'll start seeing the difference in the style of running for Sena & Riku. How Riku uses his for a more aggressive style, where as Sena uses his for a more defensive (spinning/dodging) style.

I'm excited to see just when Musashi will come running back with all his spirit! MORE! WE NEED MORE ES21!!!

AHHHH ES21. Wonderful, wonderful series with some of the most unique characters. It's rare series in which all the characters are AWESOME.

Ah, I don't have much to add, but I do know a site where you can get all the raws. And if you have an LJ, join the ES community! You get the newest chapters scanlated weekly. <3

I saw some of the anime on YouTube, and so far it's only up to episode 46, but there's I've seen an episode guide and it goes all the way up to 61. Anyway, it was pretty interesting to see in the anime that Shin & Sena actually do face off, after Sena has learned the Devil Bat Ghost, but then realizing that it's not yet complete, or that his training for the Ghost is still a ways to go.

Also, I kind of found the voicing done for ES21 anime kinda weird, or at least not the way I thought the characters would sound.

EDIT: I loved Ep42 with Ishimaru's awesomeness! Deimon's ultimate trump card: "The Shadowless God Of Death"! Player #30, the Stealth Running back, Ishimaru Tetsuo!

I'm really sad to see this is over, but you had to know it was coming. I mean, after the World Bowl what else could you do? Still the last chapter was set up so that a sequel is very possible... even if you already know who would play in the Rice Bowl.
of COURSE it'll be Sena vs. Hiruma!

Not that I wouldn't mind seeing them get there.

That was quite the topic revival. >_>

Anyway, I loved the last chapter. It was how I imagine a finale for anything: Lots of charm, references to things early in the story, an appearance from most of the cast but the main focus on the protagonist. My only gripe is the open ending....it just left me wanting more. arg.gif Seriously, I think there's potential with the whole Rice Bowl setup.

I'm gonna miss it. It along with Naruto was the only ongoing manga that I eagerly anticipated.

It was sad to see this manga end! It's definitely been one of my all-time favourites. Looking back, I think the only weak point was the World Cup arc; it would have been better to end the manga straight after the Christmas Bowl. I mean, it was great to see Panther again, but it didn't feel like it was worth putting in a whole new arc just to have him return.

This chapter was a perfect ending to ES21. smile.gif I liked how Hiruma, Musashi and Kurita split up for different teams. Mamori looked amazing, and Suzuna was cute as ever! I thought it was funny seeing Kurita try to mimic Hiruma's recruiting method, and the Cupids being the first opponents again. XD

I hope the mangakas will team up again for a new manga!
