It's where her character is first named and has verbal interaction with Naruto. Not her first appearance- Sakura's first appearance is on chapter 1's color splash page, along with Naruto, Kakashi, Sasuke, and an early version of Gamabunta. There's some symbolism there that gives hints of things that don't happen until part 2. Sasuke is seperate from the others, doesn't look at them and rides on a hawk. (his leaving Konoha at the end of part 1, turning away from Team 7 bonds and values- part 2 , the brief Team Taka in part 2, and the other hawk associations with Sasuke in part 2). Naruto is seen in the smoke and air above Gamabunta's pipe (Naruto's wind element nature revealed in part 2). Sakura is peaking out of Gamabunta's jacket around where his heart is and is looking toward Naruto. (her focus is on Naruto so at minimum a symbolic image about how her bond with Naruto would become the dominant factor in part 2, with her placement you can argue also hinting on how she would come to love Naruto.) Kakashi stands on Gamabunta's head- I think symbolic that he is Team 7's sensei in part 1, leader in part 2. (plus maybe a vague hint of his association with Minato)

You can also see it in the original color and larger sized in the first Naruto artbook- Uzumaki.

Oh, and realized looking at it when I gave the link- Sakura is lightly blushing as she looks toward Naruto... Click on the larger size button to see that detail.

You can only tell Sasuke isn't looking at the rest of Team 7 in the color image in the artbook though. In this black and white scan it's hard to make out whether he is looking at Team 7 with a sidelong glance or looking down and straight forward.

I didn't realize that as always you're very observant ciardha, this also proves that Kishi already knew what he was going to do for the future of his manga. smile.gif

Why not??? years ago in a interview Kishi said that he already has planned the ending for Naruto I wouldn't be surprise if he was planning in doing all those developments with team seven since the beginning. We know how good Kishi is at saying a thousand words with pictures, more than using actual words.

^^ Oh, he already planned the ending? Thank goodness, now I don't have to speculate anymore whether or not Kishi planned out the ending since day one.

Yeah, he said he had the ending planned when he started the manga. Manga isn't like American comics, especially shonen manga when it comes to the final romantic pairings. You just pick up the cues easier the more manga you read. Once you've read enough you can pretty much tell from the first interactions who is going to end up with who (if anyone) in shonen manga. Because romance generally plays a more crucial role in shoujo manga the writers tend to make the triangles more involved- mutual feelings on all sides (yeah sometimes even one boy kind of likes other boy as well as the girl or one of the girls kind of likes the other girl as well as the boy...) takes a bit longer to pick up on which of the common romantic plotlines they are following, but you can eventually on that too.

In a part 2 interview he again repeated that he already had the ending planned out, and over the course of the manga had just reordered some of the events around. Shonen manga editors pretty much leave any of the pairing plotlines to the writer- they just tend to encourage writers to make at least one if they don't have one. And if they have one they encourage the writer to make that pairing have a happy ending. (The later is also done by shoujo manga editors.)
