Hinata POV. Hinata knows that her husband isn't as happy as he seems.

Pictures decorated the wall of the upstairs hallway like a collage, perhaps a memorial. Naruto and his team in almost every picture with smiling faces.
Sometimes at night, I'm awoken by a muffled voice, and I can't help but listen as Naruto shares secrets with a laminated picture of old friends.
Sometimes they're about me.
And sometimes they're about her.
"I did the right thing. Yeah. It's better this way."
As I lay in an empty bed and listen to stifled sobs that threaten to wake our children, I wonder if most families hide behind the facade of their beautiful homes and holiday decorations to conceal how broken they are on the inside.
"Mom would be proud of me, right?"
When he returns, I pretend to be asleep.
He climbs into bed and kisses my forehead, whispers how beautiful it is, and readjusts the picture on his bedside table.
When he falls asleep I trace patterns on his back; they eventually become words.
"I'm sorry."
I'm sorry I'm not her.
I'm sorry.
