I disagree.

I think that Kishi gave the anime team some ideas he had for the future so they could use it as material for some filler arcs and movies as a way to subtle hint at what was to come in the future of the manga. Think of it as advertisement for the future of manga canon like that OVA music video with the narusaku moment that came out on the first day of 2011.

Black Irises and whiskers.

Of course the reason for they're darker irises is because they are zombies. Except i think that idea was implemented, as i do not remember the 2 founding Hokages having such an eye coloring.
