Where do Blu-Ray's come from?

Some inside workings of Sony's new Blu-ray factory.

Pretty damn cool machinery, if you ask me...

(Wonder if the workers ever stole a movie off the assembly line? Look at those spindles of Harry Potter blu-ray movies!)

Blu-Ray discs are much more resistant to scratches, hell, I've dropped my PS3 games and movies several times. I still see no damages.

They use what they call "ScratchGuard", made from a special coating (patented, of course, and kept secret. Since each company uses their own version, it's all kept hush-hush). It protects against scratches, dirt and oils. Of course it won't last if you abuse it often.

Now I prefer Blu-Rays over DVDs.

Pretty cool, pretty cool indeed. Yeah I know a guy who works in one of these kind of factories, he always complains about the air jet part.

I'd imagine it's hard work, for both the workers and machines. I mean, one of them has to check and playback EVERY single blu-ray disc that comes out of production.

The workers have to keep their eye on the assembly line, and check for errors. One mistake can screw the schedule up.

Me neither. Despite that Blu-Rays are better, I'll still have to wait because DVDs is still active and it will take at least 2-3 years max before they will become the mainstream for entertainment.
