But before that, I'd like to shed some light on my reasoning.
Well, to start off, shippings are disgusting. Void of any rationalization or the most basic and primal of intuiton, it's an ongoing war revolutionized by the founding of the intarwebs. It's a battle of who has the better preference, because truthfully, that's all it's about.
You may as well be arguing about which colour is the best, because that makes just about as much sense as the kitten I see posted on every naruto centric forum I have had the displeasure of bearing witness to.
I truly cannot fathom the ignorance. Do the partakers even realize that what they're kittening at each other for? Do they see the potential friendships they're throwing away in the name of idiocy? I understand this is on a strict internet basis but, generally speaking, how kittening stupid are people?
It's all because even they themselves do not understand what it is they place their faith in. What they so vehemently abide by with a blind conviction and even blinder foresight.
Now, In reference to my initial statement...
Pairings. They are nothing more than compensation for love outside of the box. (Your monitor) They are based purely on personal preferences; an ideal psuedo-reality projected onto a progressing story involving characters and their feelings for one another implicated with the irrational thought processes of a socially deprived acne ridden teenager seeking refugee in the paper hearts of cartoon characters.
To put it bluntly; the viewers themselves get immersed into the story, they then become attached to a particular character(this is dependent on the viewer themself). In coming to the realization that a bucket of paint will never reciprocate ones feelings, they settle for the next best thing, instilling their unfortunate target with an insatiable urge for primal sex with a member of the opposite sex they deem viable to their cause.
If you are a pairing fan yourself, you will find that your 'OTP' pairing of choice is nothing more than a vain attempt at filling the gapping hole in your heart that yearns for that one special animated naruto girl or boy.
Here's a good question, why do shippers care? Why can't they just let the story take it's course?
They care because it involves them. That's all there is to it. /logic
This is invariably the truth.
The pairing you choose however, that is a variable that comes from within yourself.
Well that's not my topic of interest here today believe it or not. I'm here to tell you, although your favorite colours WILL blend together to make whatever colour orange and pink makes, blue is a cooler colour anyway.
OK, i'm here to put the meaning in meaningless.
So, NaruSaku. That's cool and all, but why?
Well, I personally don't care. But you do, so I shall appease your insatiable hunger for blood and bring an end to this nonsensical blabber gabber about facets such as pairings aiding to the pollution and corruption of humanity.
Moving on...
THE STORY!! This is what I base it all on. Yuuuuuup.
Here are a few philosophies mentioned and integrated in Kishimoto's work:
- NEXT GENERATION SHALL ALWAYS SURPASS THE LAST
- HARD WORK > RAW TALENT AND GENIUS
Fine. That's nice and all. Just some typical, generic superhero protagonist guideline kinda thing going on here.
We'll get to that later...
Now, a big picture I want to point out that ties in with the whole, NEXT GENERATION SHALL SURPASS THE LAST philosophy; SANNIN parallels.

NARUTO -> JIRAYIA
SAKURA -> TSUNADE
SASUKE -> OROCHIMARU
I'll begin to work away at that
Firstly, we'll start with Naruto -> Jirayia. If the story is to follow it's formula, which it has stayed true to so far, Naruto will surpass all those before him and concerning Jirayia's shortcomings, Naruto is the one to succeed, where he had failed.
EXAMPLES: Hokage, His love for Tsunade was addressed and reciprocated too late, failed to rescue his friend (Orochimaru), etc.
Sakura -> Tsunade: Her reciprocation of feelings came too late, she loved the j man and all that jazz but it was too late, dude died before she could tell him. Like she wanted to protect dan and that other guy that died, Sakura will protect her two precious people, Sasuke and Naruto.
Sasuke -> Orochimaru Following the path of hatred. However, his hate is fueled by something circumstancial that I will address in a second. He deviates from Orochimaru in the fact he is not pure evil, he is simply driven by emotions that can be conquered, and this is where naruto will play a role.
NOW, THE PATHS. AND HOW THEY DIFFERED FROM THE VERY START.
Naruto - Never had parents, he understood the pain
Sakura - Led a normal life, had parents, she could not comprehend their hurt and sadness (this is quite important for NaruSaku as well, as this is where her delay in understanding stemed from, her inability to see naruto for what he truly was from the start as her gradual trek and ultimately deviation from that took hold, she too is now coming to terms with her feelings for him) Also, care to remember parts in the story she was reprimanded for her ignorance? 'You're annoying' ring any wedding bells?
Sasuke - HAD parents, KILLED. This is where his path diverted from narutos. Led by hate and sadness as his conviction he chooses the path of power, the ability to do onto those what they to him, not for his sake, but for those he loved.
FOR NARUTO TO SAVE SASUKE, HE MUST TOO UNDERSTAND THIS HATE. And he did, remember Jirayia? He felt the urge to avenge him, but ultimately took the high road, and spared pain. That was the principle of the arc.
Remember, until recently Naruto said he did not understand Sasuke's hate, well now he does. Thanks to sasuke it was all made possible. Naruto will ultimately put an end to Sasuke's driving force as he was destined to, sasuke then will be reverted back to a time before he was bat kitten insane and everyones happy.
So basically. The kitten that sasuke is running on, naruto is outlawing in his mothakittenin village.
Whatever happens in between, the storys ending is definite.
Naruto understood and loved sakura. She herself was not on the same plane of understanding as them, but as the story progresses, it's evident. IT'S EVIDENT SHE'S BEGINNING TO UNDERSTAND, AND IT'S EVIDENT THE ONE SHE TRULY LOVED, THE ONE SHE TRULY WAS LOOKING FOR, WSA RIGHT THERE IN FRONT OF HER ALL ALONG. SO WHY DID SHE LIKE SASUKE? BECAUSE SHE COULD NOT UNDERSTAND AND DID NOT UNDERSTAND AT THE TIME. well, now that we ALL understand, it's all chill.
Her understanding came as a result from her endeavors and blah blah blah
Paths are all converging, things are coming together, blah blah. and that's all folks.
Also Konohamaru is there just to emphasis on the 'Next generation will always surpass the last' he's firing off god damned spheres of dark matter off everywhere younger than naruto could, jesus christ.
