I actually liked it......before naruto ending happened that ruined my trust for kishi for now.
If kishi is planning to serialize another manga series he needs to take a good look at what went wrong with his naruto Manga And LEARN from it. Then "maybe" kishi could make a another decent manga. Also he needs a "really good trustworthy" editor that puts him in check if he suggest a very poor idea/writing.
Heres a really good review that actually critics kishi's one shot.

I don't see how he could write a believable romance in this one but not in kittening Naruto. Naruto had 700 chapters.
Also, I was so sure Narusaku was going to become canon after Mario. The love interest was literally paralleled with Mario's mom. I thought for sure the same thing was going to happen to Sakura. Kishimoto even trolled us about Naruto outside Naruto. Dang.

No but the love interest in Mario resembled Mario's mother, and that was their connection. Just like how Sakura resembles Kushina.

The girl is like konan in term of design.
The girl is the heroine and the second most important character after mario.
In naruto, sasuke is the second most important person who has the same importance with naruto. Sakura is the third along with kakashi.
Now we know what wrent wrong with Naruto that went well with Mario
