I don't know how it all started, but everytime I turn on the computer, it always blacks out and I have to keep turning off and on the screen. Whenever I try to turn it off and back on again, it blacks out again and again and again. It's annoying! D:

Is there anything wrong with my computer? Or do I have to reset something? Help would be appreciated.

EDIT: It turns out that my monitor was really old, so my mom had to replace it with a new one. Thanks for the help, guys.

This does not sound good. I'm no pro at this, but it sounds like there is something infecting your computer.

This happened to my sister's desktop. Power adapter was her problem... maybe its your adapter?

Just curious...

Are you on a laptop or a PC?
Has the OS already loaded when the computer blacks out?
Does it go black at roughly the same time each time you turn your computer on?
When the computer blacks out does it restart the computer?

If you are on a PC, and you have another one handy, I'd plug your monitor up to another PC/laptop just to rule out that it's a monitor issue. I would imagine it's either a software problem or hardware related to your PC and not the monitor.

Some things that might cause the computer to restart itself or go black:
RAM problem
Graphics card problem
Corrupt OS file
Virus

I'm on a PC.

Has the OS already loaded when the computer blacks out?

Sometimes.

Does it go black at roughly the same time each time you turn your computer on?

It blacks out when I have to choose a user file.

When the computer blacks out does it restart the computer?

No.

I really think it's the monitor's fault because our computer is sort of old. (I mostly use the laptop now) The only thing strange about the computer is that after I log off a file, it doesn't black out anymore.

It says resolved, but for future references. When that happens, it means your monitor is dying and it's time to find a new one.

You can easily find an LCD monitor for 150 bucks nowadays. Try Newegg.com, they commonly have LCD monitors for their daily specials.
