Yes, thats why I believe that the kushina comparison was bait to keep us NS fans interested till the very end.

Well a red herring makes no sense. Hinata confessed her love during the Pain Arc. Why wasn't she the one to embrace Naruto instead of Sakura?

It would have been a near perfect ending if Kishimoto had decided to end the series after the pain arc. Naruto becomes the beloved hero of the village and gets accepted by the girl of his dreams.

But, but!! We wouldn't get to see a once greatly beloved story take an intense nosedive straight into the dumpster. I'm also glad I got to see the idea of Chakra Nature/Elements and Sage Mode be abandoned in favor of glowy, explosive nukes and 150 ft tall paper mache samurai.

Also glad to see Naruto reach a level of maturity fighting Pain only to sit there getting ridiculed and beat to a pulp by Karui in the name of Sauceke.

Also glad to see the notion of achieving your dreams when you start with nothing in life was replaced by the "prophecy of the chosen one" and the reincarnation of the sons of the Sage.

Also glad to see an entire war arc based on fighting plants and zombies only to culminate with ninja aliens from space!

Also glad to see Naruto mourn and defend the one responsible for the death of his parents and call him "the COOLEST guy".

Oh and uh, also glad to know the manga never ends with a Hokage ceremony (aka his main driving dream for 15 years of serialization) and gets to marry his stalker who he fell in "love" in a scarf genjutsu because the author "forgot" to implement it in the manga.

/sarcasm  :D

^BUT, all of that makes sense because Hinata loves Naruto and that's all to say about that. :argh:

But wait, when did he call him " the coolest guy"?? Not that I question it, I just stopped following the series so I might missed it. Sounds quite idiotic.

Yes Scumbag Naruto did indeed call Obito the coolest guy.

Here's the actual panel.:

It's from chapter 687.

Which I've told you - time and time again - is dangerous! There will never be consensus, son, among those you have helped to ascend. They will all differ in their views of what it means to be free. The peace you so desperately seek does not exist.

These men are united now by a common cause. But when this battle is finished they will fall to fighting amongst themselves about how best to ensure control. In time it will lead to war. You will see.

I mean, considering all the kitten that happened to Obito and the fact that he sorta redeems himself a bit at the end, I could understand especially considering he's saying it to Madara who used Obito. I'd rather hear him say that about Obito than Sasuke personally because Obito was actually an interesting and tragic character.

Also, did Rin have feelings for Obito in the end? Why would she be waiting for him on the other side? Kakashi died at one point, and she didn't greet him even though she supposedly loved him.

You can assume that she did by the fact that she was paralled with Sakura, and naturally Sakura ended up with... Well, I guess you can assume that she was just waiting for him because she had nothing better to do.

So many parallels that don't make sense.I honestly believe that up until the last chapter, NS was planned because it would not make sense otherwise.

Its not only that, but Sakuras design as a whole looks almost identical to Kushina, when you compare them side by side, and Im sure that was done intentionally.

I'm starting to see Naruto as heartless more than scumbag the more i think about that panel. I mean we are human ... at least , just at least i expect his emotion to kick in first "BEFORE" the holy forgiveness act of him kicks in.

I mean .... let's just compare that time he went rage and berserk goes to 4 tailed just because the fact that Orochimaru simply mention "MY SASUKE" to him ..... and he did nothing to the murderer of his parents but instead call him "The COOLEST GUY" ....

At the beginning of part one Naruto really resemble a true human , a loser an outcast that struggle just to exist. But the more and more time goes , the more the story reach it's climax end the more Naruto became a god or saint it's like he is losing his identity as a normal human. I mean , what would normal human do when they meet the person who killed their parents ? shakes hand and said "You are the Coolest guy ever" ? . Maybe there are those who said , that's because Naruto spends more time with Sasuke in part one and he barely knows his parents. But he meet them both , he meet Minato and Kushina and Kushina told him everything , their sacrifice , their wishes and who is responsible for their death .... the masked man. And he knows the masked man identity , what did he do once he found out it was Obito .... nothing like the reaction when Orochimaru mention Sasuke in the tenchi bridge ... instead he called him ..... The Coolest Guy .... it will be really sad if the editor didn't even try to make Kishi understand the method of this madness.

For me there's no humanity left in this world , the fact that Naruto cares more about Sasuke than his own parents.

The greatest testament to this horrendous ending is the movie, naruto the last. I think it decided the ending that we have today. I'm not saying that NS was always a red herring, NS has 10+ years of development and in my opinion this pairing doesn't even need a kushina parallel or some life/death situation, it can stand on its own. Naruto and sakura could've come together if they just took that one last step of accepting each other as they are. They don't need some dramatic moment or an entire friggin movie!

With that said, I don't believe a word of what Kishimoto says in his interviews. Its been proven time and again that he changes his story in every new interview. I advise all of you not to believe anything he says but instead look at the manga. Because the manga shows every single creative decision he has made regarding the characters and story.

Now as to why I think NS became a red herring in the last years of the series. I came across this article last night.

https://www.animenew...-launch-in-2014

Its a 2012 article about a new naruto movie being announced for 2014. Now this movie is the last, meaning by this point in 2012, people at studio pierrot had already started working on the production of this thing. It is safe to say that the ending was decided in 2012 because it was Kishimoto who provided the early designs for all the characters. the chapters containing the CPR scene and the kushina parallel came out in 2013 so yeah, I do think Kishimoto is despicable enough to lead his readers on by manipulating the wishes of the main characters dead mother.

I have worked on a few movies where I'm from and let me tell you that it takes at least two years to produce an animated movie.  Writing the script, coming up with designs, drawing the storyboard, doing the actual animation and then compositing the entire thing takes a lot of time. So my guess is that this ending was decided in the last 2-3 years of narutos run.

Plus even when she was alive, when we thought Obito died that Rin seemed to have begun to fall harder for him since she learned he loved her from Kakashi, even when Kakashi rejected her confession because he felt he didn't deserve it for wanting to abandon her.

except 2012 was close to the late stages of the war arc right before kaguya took over madara, and we had just had road to ninja which was a family movie and a ns movie. plus all the ns moments leading up to that point before 2012. so no, I highly doubt nh was planed since the pain arc, 2012 was long after the pain arc during the war mangawise, and road to ninja had just aired in theaters. for the ending and nh and the last  to have been planned since the pain arc the movie would have had to be planned in 2009 or earlier, and it wasn't. I know because 2009 was when the naruto nagato talk no jutsu happened in the manga, I still have the shonen jump magazine of it.

Like I said, it takes at least an estimated 1-2 years to make an animated movie so lets say road to ninja started production in 2010 or 2011. Road to ninja gets released in 2012 and in that very same year, another naruto movie is announced for 2014.

I'm not saying that nh was planned since the pain arc but I can see editors or SP pushing Kishimoto to go for that route after hinatas confession scene. Lets face it, no one cared about hinata until she jumped in front of pain. And after the pain arc, all the NS moments have been strange. Take sakuras confession, Kishimoto made sakura look like she was lying about her feelings and made naruto react like a complete jerk to her. Not to mention all the moments he showed hinata going "na-naruto-kun" peppered throughout the war arc. And how do you explain nejis messed up death? It was completely unnecessary and wasn't needed at all but he was killed off to force some bonding moment between naruto and hinata!

This, plus despite The Last ending as NH, the early stages could have ended it very differently. Yeah, Hinata being prominent, but NS being forefront.

I think I remember months ago someone saying Naruto forced himself onto Sakura, and that same person was a SS fan.

This is another qualm I have with the SS side of the end pairings. Sakuras basically saying: "Ill keep confessing my love until he accepts me!" Isn't it hypocritical to say Naruto was forcing himself if Sakura was doing the same thing? Keep in mind this was from the book so shes an adult during this. Her character has been "developed" from her 13 year old self. Supposedly.

I remember start of Part 2 Naruto manga serialization, I and a lot of others were so surprised at how well Kishimoto was developing Sakura, and gave her opportunities to shine, especially during the Sasori arc. And then after the Tenchi bridge, he just started blatantly ignoring her, tried to make her relevant during the war arc, and then brought her right back to her 13 year old self in the last 10 chapters.

Artfully crafted I'd say!

The difference is that Naruto wasn't supplicatory. He didn't filter himself because he was worried Sakura wouldn't like him. However he acted around her was because he wanted to and it was natural for him to do so. Sakura's behavior towards Sasuke was unnatural and it was not surprising that he didn't like her very much.
