Prologue: Standing in the Rain

Uzumaki Naruto?s usual blue eyes continued to shine red as his whiskers were even darker than normal but the true description that stood out was the frown on his face. Haruno Sakura was on her knees, tears streaming down her face as she pushed an enormous amount of chakara out of her hands and onto the green Jounin vest of Hatake Kakashi, and his face was holding pure pain. Orochimaru stood opposite of the three Leaf ninja as his glimmering Sound headband shifted slightly on his forehead and eventually fell to the muddy ground below, it fell right next to the pale body of Uchiha Sasuke.

?Naruto? Sakura yelled as the tears continued to mask her face. ?He?s losing blood fast!?

Naruto nodded slightly as he pulled his hands together and yelled out, ?Kage bunshin no jutsu!? soon multiple Narutos were shown surrounding Orochimaru. ?Come on!? and he attacked with all his might.

Orochimaru swiftly moved from one side to the next as Naruto continued to attack wildly, his arms flailing about. ?Sorry fox but I?ve already done my mission.? he smiled slightly as he bent down and grabbed his headband before disappearing in a puff of smoke.

Naruto bent down to check on Sasuke but he knew it was no use, the snake had impaled him straight through, and he didn?t stand a chance. Still Naruto refused to shed a tear as he tried futilely to control his labored breathing. As he dropped to his knees and pounded the ground mercilessly his blue eyes began to shine again and his whiskers returned to their dull shade.

?Naruto? Sakura yelled out. ?Naruto we need to get out of here and fast!? The rain began to beat down on their bodies even harder, thunder clapped in the distance as Naruto ran back towards Sakura and his sensei, Sasuke was left behind. Sakura?s red and white over-dress was nearly torn and half as she continued to apply pressure to Kakshi?s wound. ?I need to take him to Tsunade-sama!? Kakashi groaned from the amount of pressure she was putting on him. ?Sorry Kakashi-sensei.?

Sakura looked worried too as she slowly straightened up slightly and looked over to Sasuke?s prone body, ?He?s dead?? Naruto nodded. ?He?s really gone.? Naruto nodded again. Sakura was overwhelmed with tears as she continued to try desperately to heal Kakashi; they needed to get out before Orochimaru would have the pleasure to come back. ?What do we do??

?Kakashi-sensei sent Pakkun to get help?? Naruto trailed off. ?We just have to wait until he comes back with help.?

The labored breathing of Kakashi-sensei and the foul odor of Sasuke?s decaying body would put anybody into an uncomfortable silence; Naruto and Sakura were in a state of complete shock. Discarding his orange jacket quickly he threw it over the dead body as he ignored the slight whimpering sounds that came from Sakura?s mouth. Kakashi continued to struggle with his pain and they were all left to themselves. Maybe it wouldn?t have happened if they had gotten their earlier; maybe it all could?ve been prevented. Sakura shook her head furiously as the thought entered and exited her mind, she couldn?t think like that. Konoha was now at war with the Hidden Stone village, she had to stay tough and not be weak.

The war had started earlier in the year with the sudden attack of the Sand and Fire villages, everything went downhill from there. Tsunade-sama and the others had allied in a great force to take down the Stone, but even with the warning call from some of the elites they didn?t fail to attack Konoha. Her parents were killed in the midst of the attack and so had numerous other villager fighting for the leaf, it was just to add to the names on the memorial stone. Team 7 was fighting side-by-side through it all but this time it was different, so Kakashi had said, this time they were fighting as equals, they were fighting as comrades and not disciples.

The ambush was so sudden too, Kakashi was training them like the old times, they were having the bell test and there were so many times that they had come close to taking them from him. Naruto had finally thought up a plan to take the bells from Kakashi-sensei and it was like an ambush, he had been using his sharingan throughout the battle and we knew Sakura and Naruto had know that he got tired so they attempted to attack before Kakashi had time to rest. Of course it could?ve worked but right as they were getting ready to snatch the bells Gai came running up to them saying that the village was being attacked, we fought with all of our strengths combined.

The tears poured down Sakura?s face, they had only been waiting for about three minutes and it already felt like an eternity.

Naruto?s, now wet from the rain, black shirts stuck to his skin eagerly as the thunder continued to clap on overhead, it was so odd. Sasuke?s body was rotting underneath his orange jacket and Kakashi-sensei looked like he was going to die any moment from blood loss. Sakura was right at his shoulder trying her hardest to use her medical skills to fix him and her tears were camouflaged in with the rain. Naruto sighed a deep sigh as he clamped his hands onto his knees and began to study the grass.

It was interesting to be alive during the war time, to be fighting in at that too, it was all very interesting. He, Uzumaki Naruto, had killed at the age of twelve and at what is supposed to be a good purpose to the Leaf. No missions were being handed out to mere Genin, but Kakashi-sensei. Gai, Asuma, and the other Jounin had been thrown out of the village nearly everyday. Tsunade-baba had the village under strict orders that nobody can set foot out of the village without being approved first, not that you would get approved though. Naruto did think they were being over cautious but he couldn?t really blame them for being so worried, this was war.

Then they charge you with the rescue blues

A small rustle in the bush made Sakura and Naruto?s hair stand on end, he grabbed onto his last kunai and readied it for whatever may come, his eyes already turning red. A small bit of smoke blew into their faces and they were greeted by the tongue of Pakkun and right behind was the large pipe of GamaBunta, Jiraiya riding on his head with a somber expression. He took in the scene quickly and GamaBunta picked the three ninja up onto his back and began to turn back to the village only to be stopped by Sakura?s meek voice, ?Wait, we need to get Sasuke!?

Jiraiya raised an eyebrow and watched as Naruto lifted a heavy finger and pointed to his discarded jacket, Jiraiya realized what had happened and nodded silently as he jumped down and picked up the boy?s body. He jumped back swiftly and they returned to what was left to their home.
