What you need to know:
-Yes, I intentionally did not put all that much detail so that the readers won?t get bored. This fanfic is for those who want to understand the story quickly and for those who do not want to read that much detail. I know these romantic stories need dramatic details, but after a lot of experience in reading fanfics, I find myself liking those fanfics made by people with wrong grammar and short narratives more than those detailed stories. Is it because I?m impatient? Who knows? Anyways, please read the fic and see if you?ll find it interesting. If it is not, then I humbly apologize for this is the first fanfic I will ever post on the net.
-If you think that I should just put more details, post it and either I?ll remake this or create a new chapter.

Sakura was walking along town, all teary-eyed and sniffing. ?I will never love you!? those words slapped into her heart. Every time she saw Sasuke?s image inside her mind, pain throbbed inside her, and she just had to cry.

?Sakura, I want you to get one thing straight,? Sasuke said.

Her footsteps become slower, and tears visibly fell on the ground.

?You are annoying. You?re brash. Things I don?t like about a girl?? He repeatedly sparred her.

She sniffed once.

?I will NEVER love you. I?d rather be married to a rock.?

She tripped on a rock. Usually, she knew if she will trip on something, but today she just felt too weak. She stood up and continued walking.

She wanted to meet with somebody, anybody. She wanted to feel the warm presence of a friend after her shocking talk with Sasuke. Eventually she came up to a ramen shop and found Naruto inside. ?Well, it?s better than nothing? she told herself. ?Besides, I think Naruto will be good for my situation now.? She knew he loved her, so she tried to get comfort from him.

Naruto was busy eating his ramen in the shop. The owner didn?t find it strange that Naruto was eating like he was, since he got used to seeing him eat his ramen.

Suddenly, Sakura came in with a sad look on her face. Naruto saw her. ?This is very unlike her?, Naruto thought. Usually she was cheery. Something was wrong. Sakura sat beside Naruto and sighed.

?Is there something wrong, Sakura?? Naruto asked. ?Did Sasuke hurt your feelings again??

The ?Sasuke? part of the sentence stabbed Sakura?s heart with a huge knife. She looked at Naruto and sighed. ?Yes, he did.? Sakura rested her chin on her palm.

?That Sasuke!? Naruto pounded the table. ?What did he say again this time? I?m gonna give him so much hurtin? that he?ll regret he ever lived!?

Sakura was strangely moved by Naruto?s persistence on loving her, and felt guilty for ignoring that all this time. This boy really loved her. She looked at him with a wide eye as he resumed eating his ramen.

While watching him eat, she realized that if Naruto wasn?t a real brat, he actually looked kind of cute. She was *this* close to telling him, ?Naruto, you?re such a kind person? until reality struck her. ?Sakura!? her inner self said to her, ?Shame on you! Don?t you hate Naruto?? Quickly, she pushed her thoughts away. Oh man, she was so affected by what happened to her that even Naruto was starting to look good. She quickly averted her gaze and looked at the table.

Naruto finished his ramen rather quickly, and then he saw Sakura just staring at the table. ?Aren?t you going to eat?? he asked.

?No, I just came here to see you.? Sakura replied.

?Why?? Naruto asked.

?I?? Sakura fell silent for a while and then, ?Naruto? I want you to comfort me.?

?Huh?? Naruto was confused. She wanted *him* to comfort her? His heart pounded.

?Naruto?? Sakura buried her face in her small hands. Naruto then hears her sniffing. ?(Sniff, sniff) I? I want someone to cry on??

When Naruto heard Sakura say that, his hatred for Sasuke grew even further. He was seriously going to beat the guy up, sharingan or not. Naruto stood up and pat Sakura on the shoulder. He didn?t know what to say to her. He felt that if he said a single word, she would cry even more.

Sakura then stood up, still crying. She needed someone to cry unto, so she rested her face on Naruto?s chest. Naruto could understand Sasuke?s arrogance, but if he was hurting girls, then he had reached his limits. Sakura?s tears stained his cloth, but that was a minor thing compared to making Sakura feel comfortable. Most of the people eating looked at them weirdly. They must think that he had a romantic involvement with Sakura.

Sakura could feel her teammate?s heart pounding and beating fast. It somehow felt nice that he had feelings for her after she felt Sasuke really hurt her. Those words made her feel like no one could love her. So knowing Naruto loved her made her happy.

After a long while, she parted with Naruto. ?Thank you,? she said, and then she left the ramen shop.

** ** ** ** ** **The next day?** ** ** ** ** **

The moon was visible over the Hidden Leaf Village. It was nighttime, around seven.
Sakura heard her doorbell. Her parents were on a mission in the hidden sound village, so she was alone on the house. She opened the door and found Naruto smiling at her, scratching the back of his head as usual. He wasn?t wearing his forehead protector, so this wasn?t a mission. What?s he up to?

?Uhhh, Sakura? Can I ask for??? a date?? asked Naruto.

Sakura yelped a bit in surprise, and then looks away from him to hide her red cheeks. Why was she blushing now? She thought she didn?t like Naruto. It?s not like this is the first time he asked for a date? she didn?t redden before, so why was it different now?

?Uhh? sure??

Naruto?s eyes widened. He was surprised at her answer. Even Sakura was surprised at her own answer. This was the first time she had agreed to date him out of the millions of times he asked.

?I don?t have any plans for tonight anyway, and Ino is dating with Shikamaru so I can?t really go to her house right now,? Sakura made up her excuse. This wasn?t her real reason, but she doesn?t even know her own reason for agreeing to date him.

?Well, let?s go!? Naruto happily said, linking his arm through Sakura?s. They both walked through Konoha with smiles on their faces.

They arrived on a restaurant. ?Hunky Junky? the sign on the restaurant says. She has never seen this before. It must be new. The design made it look like an elaborate restaurant, though the food was affordable. Genius, one could say. Although it was such a funny name for a classy restaurant.

?This is where we will eat?? asked the impressed Sakura. She did not know Naruto would take her to such place, and for free. She smiled as she walked through the entrance, her arms still linked through Naruto?s. ?It?s fancy.?

?Thanks,? Naruto smiled, walking towards the cashier to order the food.

Minutes later they found themselves having dinner together. Naruto was really shy ? it was very unlike him. Usually he?s full of energy when eating dinner, but today Sakura found him slowly digesting his food. ?Naruto?? she called. ?Is there something wrong??

Naruto stops eating. ?A-Ah, w-w-w-what?? his face was bright red. ?How cute?? Sakura thought. She was flattered to realize that he wasn?t actually the brat she thought he was. The way he was acting was? what else could she say? It was cute.

?Come on, you don?t need to be shy.? Sakura had a gentle tone in her voice. She put her hand on his chin, and then she blushes. Without his forehead protector, he actually looked good.

Naruto on the other hand, was bedazzled by the gentle, smiling face Sakura was showing him. His heart beat even faster when she tenderly touched his chin to make him face her. He reddened even more. Sakura was so beautiful?

Sakura sighed in disappointment and let go of Naruto?s chin.

?What?s wrong?? Naruto asked. The girl just smiled at him and waved her hand. ?It?s nothing?? she replied, looking at her finished food. She was thinking something when she observed Naruto?s face, and she was so disappointed.

He didn?t look as good as Sasuke. This wasn?t good. She was still in love with Sasuke, even after he said those horrible words?
** The next day**

Sakura sits down near the waterfall, her mind deep in thought. Her eyes were pinned on the ground before her. She looked sad.

She and Sasuke hadn?t been talking for quite some time now as they waited for their teacher to arrive. Sasuke gave himself a small smirk. She won?t be bothering him for quite some time now, so he can have peace and can concentrate on getting more power. Still, he can?t help but be worried at the situation. He really didn?t intend Sakura to hate him, but he also didn?t want her thinking that he?s planning on being her boyfriend or anything. Now she hated him. He just hoped that this problem would soon be solved.

Silence was in the forest, broken only by the sound of the waterfall. Finally, Naruto arrived. ?This guy will keep things noisy for a while,? Sasuke thought.

?Good morning Naruto,? greeted Sakura with a smile. Sasuke grunted. This was the first time he had seen Sakura greet Naruto when he arrived. He felt a sort of?jealousy? in his mind? She didn?t even look at him ever since this morning, and now she was greeting his rival?

?Ah, hello Sakura. Did Sasuke hurt you or anything?? Naruto asked.

?No, he hasn?t done anything,? Sakura replied with a smile instead of the sad look she showed when she was with Sasuke alone. This made Sasuke even more jealous.

?What?re you gonna do if I do something to her?? Sasuke glared at him with small sparks in his left hand.

?I?m gonna kick your ass!? Naruto runs towards Sasuke to punch him, but due to his thick-brow-matching speed, he quickly avoids and kicks Naruto in the ass.

?Who kicked whose ass again?? Sasuke said sarcastically.

?Stop it, you two?? a voice from behind said. He sounded a lot like?

Naruto and Sasuke looked behind to see their teacher glaring at them, with a
scroll on his right hand.

A tree branch fell as Naruto jumped on it. Man, he really needed to concentrate better on jumping from tree to tree. He could?ve fallen. Suddenly he heard a scream from afar. It sounded an awful lot like a girl he knew?

Sakura looked left and right, searching for the bird. Her team was sent on a C-Rank mission to find a bird carrying a list. It was supposed to be carried to the Hokage, and it was very well trained, but somehow it got lost. This was getting to be suspicious. Someone might be behind this.

?Oh!? she was surprised when she heard the flapping of birds. She leapt to where the sound came from, and there she saw the bird with a scroll tied to its feet.
She was glad that she found the bird, but now the problem is getting to the bird. She stealthily creeps forward, but was suddenly stopped by a very, very soft sound. She was trained to be aware of everything, so the sound caused her extreme caution. You never know when shinobis will come flying at you with full speed.

Her awareness was a good thing, as she sensed a kunai behind her. She quickly rolled sideward to avoid the attack, and looked behind. She saw three ninjas who are in a formation of some kind. They looked like sound Nins, but they didn?t have the mark of the sound village. Strange? And their formation is even stranger.

Suddenly, she was grabbed from behind. There was another one hidden in the bushes for an ambush. Sakura screamed.

Naruto hid inside a bush as he saw where the scream that he heard came from. Sakura was in trouble, and he had to help her. He did his hand seals and used Kage Bunshin.

As Sakura struggles to break free of the shinobi holding her, she noticed Naruto creeping towards the three shinobis alone. She wanted to smile, but that would just get the ninjas? attention, and then his position would be given away. She resisted the urge to smile with all her willpower, and glared at a shinobi in front of her. He seemed to be the leader of this group.

The leader sensed Naruto trying to creep behind, and immediately threw a kunai at him, stabbing him on the chest. When Sakura saw this, she just smiled, trusting her friend.

Naruto, or rather a clone of Naruto, disappeared in a cloud of smoke. ?A Bunshin?? the leader said.

Another Naruto jumped out from the side and threw a kunai at the leader. Unfortunately, the leader caught the kunai with his bare hand. Another one of the ninjas threw a shuriken at Naruto quickly, but he manages to avoid the attack. He landed on his feet with a hand as support. ?So, you are the real one?? the leader said.

?Give me back my Sakura!? Naruto threw another kunai, but the leader caught it once again. Then all the others charge towards Naruto. This was getting violent, so he did a hand seal, but he was interrupted by a sword from one of the ninjas. He disappeared again.

?What?!? the leader exclaimed. ?This boy is tricky??

?So you noticed,? Sakura said, free from the shinobi?s grip. Naruto was standing beside her, smiling. A dead body was laying on her other side, too.

The kunai on the hand of the leader suddenly exploded, and all four enemy ninjas slammed into a tree. ?Let?s run!? Naruto yelled, and they turned around to sprint. Hopefully, they?ll find either Sasuke or Kakashi-sensei to help them.

After a mile of running, Naruto saw that the four ninjas were catching up to them fast. He looked behind and spotted one of them putting purple liquid on a kunai. kitten! They were going to poison them. The kunai was thrown, and aimed at Sakura. Naruto jumped in the way just in time to save her from the poisonous kunai, but now he was the one poisoned.

?Naruto-kun!? cried Sakura, holding Naruto?s limp form.

Then, from the trees, Kakashi dove onto the ninjas. And that was the last thing Naruto saw before he fainted.

When Naruto woke up, he was in the hospital. Sakura was sitting down on a chair beside him. She smiled when she saw Naruto awake.

?Finally?? she said. ?You?re awake now. I wanted to say something.?

?Really?? Naruto looked curious. ?What??

?You saved me. Thank you,? Sakura smiled. ?A-And?sorry??

?Sorry?? Naruto asked. ?Sorry for what??

Slowly, Sakura replied. ?I?m sorry you had to save me???

?Oh, that? It?s okay? as long as you are okay.?

Sakura was touched. She doubted she would find anyone else who?d protect her like Naruto does. She stood up and faced the window, just to get her gaze away from Naruto. She did not want him to see her red cheeks. ?Um, I gotta go. See ya`? and then she left the room.

?Bye, Sakura.?

After a few minutes, Kakashi came in the room with a very serious look on his face. He was holding some kind of hospital paper. He looked at Naruto, who was looking back at him.

?Have you had any bad dreams lately, Naruto?? the teacher asked.

?No, none that I know of.? Naruto replied.

?Okay, but soon you will dream of Orochimaru. Do not ever listen to Orochimaru.?

?Huh? Isn?t he gone by now??

?Those ninjas that attacked you were part of Orochimaru?s upcoming army. That poison you were struck with was intended for Sasuke, but you got them pissed off so they threw it at you.? Kakashi sat down on the same chair Sakura sat down a while ago.

?And??? Naruto asked.

?The poison holds the power of the cursed seal, only it works in your blood. The only way to stop this is through your own willpower.?

Naruto looked down.

?Don?t ever listen to Orochimaru, okay??

?Yes, teacher.?
** ** ** ** ** **Later that night** ** ** ** ** **

Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha!

The laughter of the snake-like man echoed in the dark void. Naruto did not know how he got there and when. He just saw Orochimaru in front of him before he knew it.

?Ha, ha, ha! That girl of yours will never love you! You are a demon!?

?That?s not true!? Naruto exclaimed, punching Orochimaru?s figure. His hand went straight through the snake man?s body. He fell down and was forced to listen to his taunts.

?Your only purpose is to release kyuubi! Release its full potential! Kill the girl!?

?NOOO!!!!!? Naruto tried to use Rasengan, but his chakra couldn?t operate in this void. This angered him even more.

?Ha, ha, ha, ha! You will release kyuubi from its prison? sooner or later??

?Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha!?

?AH!? Naruto woke up from his dream. Cold sweat trickled from his neck. It was just like Kakashi had predicted. He won?t listen to Orochimaru. He would never give in?

** The next day ** **

Sakura was eating at ?Hunky Junky? as usual. It was nighttime, and the moonlight was very romantic in the view.

Then Sasuke arrived at the restaurant. After he looked around he saw Sakura, walked up to her. The female ninja suddenly seemed to be in a foul mood, her eyes looking gloomy and depressed.

?Would you mind if I sat down?? Sasuke asked, pointing at the chair in front of Sakura.

Sakura slowly shook her head, not moving her eyes at all. Her eyes were kept on her food. Sasuke then sat down and looked at Sakura.

?Sakura? I?? Sasuke was hesitating to say something.

?Do you need something, Sasuke?? Sakura sharply said.

Sasuke gulped down a huge one. She was cute when she was mad. He missed Sakura calling him Sasuke-kun. In the past, he didn?t give it a damn until he lost that Sakura. Now, he wanted it back.

?I?m sorry, Sakura?? Sasuke sincerely said, his eyes glued to Sakura?s face. ?I?m sorry for everything I said to you??

Sakura?s eyes widened. Why was he suddenly??? She didn?t know if she should forgive him or not. Her heart began to beat faster.

?I realized? after you refused to speak with me?? Sasuke was still hesitating on what he was trying to say. ?Sakura? I??

Sasuke held Sakura?s hand. The girl began to turn red. ?I love you, Sakura??

Her heart thundered in her ears, and beat even more. She couldn?t believe Sasuke actually loved her, after all these years. But these past few days she? oh, what ever should she do? Something inside her tells her that Sasuke is the one she loved, but there was another face that kept flashing in her mind. A particular blonde-haired boy.

Then she noticed Naruto was there, glaring at them from the entrance. Then, the blonde haired boy ran away with pain in his eyes. A tear escaped from Sakura?s eye, and she stood up to leave the restaurant, but Sasuke also stood up blocking her path. The Uchiha grabbed Sakura?s face, and then gives her a kiss in the lips. ?Sakura? please? do you still love me??

Sakura pushed Sasuke away. She had loved this guy for years, and she didn?t think she would push him away from her like this. ?I?m sorry, Sasuke! There is something I must do!? And then she ran outside the restaurant.

Naruto stood on the edge of the cliff overlooking the Hidden Leaf Village, sobbing over what happened. He was so enraged that a little bit of kyuubi?s chakra was let out. He was now burning in orange aura. Every time he remembered Sakura in his arms, his rage filled him. Naruto punched the ground and it was a surprise that the cliff didn?t crash. He would have fallen. Not that it was necessarily a bad thing.

He wasn?t usually this affected when he finds Sakura with Sasuke, but now it hurt him more than he expected when their hands held and they looked at each other so sweetly?

Then he remembered Orochimaru?s words in his dream. ?That girl will never love you!? he said. It was true.

Strange, black marks were growing inside of him just like when Sasuke?s cursed seal activates. Then, kyuubi?s chakra came flowing out of his body. Kyuubi was trying to get out of his body. The nine tailed fox has gone berserk, just as the cursed seal. He had lost control of himself ever since he saw them in the restaurant. Now he was covered in the darkness and rage?

?No, Naruto!!?

He heard a sound, barely audible. Voices could barely reach him where he is.
?NARUTO!! Naruto, return to me! Please, Naruto!?

Kyuubi and the cursed seal calmed down a bit, hearing the voice of a very familiar girl. He didn?t turn around to see who it was.

?If you?re thinking that me and Sasuke??

Orange chakra exploded from Naruto?s body after hearing the name of the man he was enraged with. He didn?t give time for Sakura to finish her sentence.

?Naruto! Would you please listen to me?!?

Naruto growled, letting more of kyuubi?s chakra out. The fox was slowly solidifying. Soon he would be fully released and will wreak havoc in Konoha.

?Ah!? Sakura screamed, frustrated at Naruto. ?This just isn?t the Naruto I?ve known!?

Another explosion of chakra.

?This just isn?t the Naruto that I?? Sakura continued, hesitating a bit. ?The Naruto I? I have always loved? the Naruto that I love would listen to me?? a drop of tear trickled down her cheeks as she looked at Naruto. His back was to her.

She gave Naruto a hug from behind. Naruto?s eyes widened. He was really hot with orange chakra, but Sakura held on. Now she was sure of how she felt. She wanted to be with Naruto more than anything.

The orange chakra started to come back to Naruto, and the cursed seal slowly started disappearing. Sakura smiled.

Soon Naruto was back to his old body. ?Sakura-chan??

Sakura did not hold back her tears of joy when Naruto returned to his normal self. She made Naruto turn around, and she cried on his chest again, but this time it was because she was happy. She was happy that Naruto didn?t give in to the cursed seal, but even more than that? She was happy that she was with Naruto. They both hug each other, not minding how long they would do this.

?Naruto, please don?t leave me?? Sakura pleaded.

?Sakura-chan? Weren?t you dating Sasuke a while ago?? replied Naruto.

?I wasn?t dating him!? she cried some more. ?I was just eating there when he arrived!?

?And your hands were together??

?Stop it!? she yelled, smacking Naruto?s shoulder lightly. ?I realized something when Sasuke said he was in love with me??

Naruto?s heart tightened when after she said that. But then, a few words escaped from his lips. ?What did you realize??

?I? Naruto-kun? I?? Sakura looked at Naruto in the eye. ?I LOVE YOU, NARUTO-KUN!?

And deep inside, Sakura knew she meant it. She meant it with every ounce of her strength.

Naruto?s enraged face turned into a warm smile. ?I love you too, Sakura-chan??

They both held each other for they did not know how long.

Winter has finally arrived. People played snowball fights, went skiing, played hockey, and many other things. Sometimes night would arrive and the breeze would become colder, making it hard to stay outside.

Back at Konoha, the moon was not visible, as the clouds have obstructed the view. Sakura yawned a bit, making her way to her room. She was already in her pajamas and was going to sleep. Her parents were away again on a mission. She was alone on the house again.

She turned on the heater. That thing was really old, and she wouldn?t be surprised if it broke soon. They were going to have to buy a new one sooner or later. She lied down on her bed and covered herself in a blanket, just to make sure she doesn?t get overly frozen to death if the heater broke.

Naruto was planning to surprise Sakura by sleeping over to her house tonight. It was late, so he assumed that Sakura would be asleep, but he would just use the window and wake her up. His hands were deep inside the pocket of his jacket. Even if he was wearing the combined sweater and jacket, he still was cold. The winters are just getting more and more icy.

Sakura?s heater seemed to spark a bit, but the girl did not notice. She was fast asleep now?

Good prologue there. Can't wait to see more!

I?d take criticism as a praise, so also don?t be afraid to insult my fic. Feel free to rant, too. I have something to rant about my own story: It?s not fair! How come Sasuke gets a kiss from Sakura and I don?t? Not even Naruto got one! Wait, I am the writer and I can make Naruto and Sakura kiss any time.

She turned on the heater. That thing was really old, and she wouldn?t be surprised if it broke soon. They were going to have to buy a new one sooner or later. She lied down on her bed and covered herself in a blanket, just to make sure she doesn?t get overly frozen to death if the heater broke.

Naruto was planning to surprise Sakura by sleeping over to her house tonight. It was late, so he assumed that Sakura would be asleep, but he would just use the window and wake her up. His hands were deep inside the pocket of his jacket. Even if he was wearing the combined sweater and jacket, he still was cold. The winters are just getting more and more icy.

Sakura?s heater seemed to spark a bit, but the girl did not notice. She was fast asleep now?

The young kunoichi slowly slid her eyes open. Brrr? it was colder than usual. A few minutes passed by with just Sakura staring at that thing?whatever was in front of her. She was still very sleepy, so she just went back to sleep.

Then she heard something, with her eyes still closed. A voice woke her up, but she refused to get conscious. The voice was saying something?

?No, Sakura! Wake up!?

She felt tears drop on her cheek.

The next thing she knew was that she was in Tsunade?s home, and she was lying on a sleeping bag near the fireplace. ?Huh? Why am I here? she thought. She looked all around the room and saw Naruto with his face buried inside his arms. Sakura could hear the guy?s snoring, so she convinced that Naruto was asleep. Seeing this, she sat up and shook Naruto to wake him up. His eyes remained closed.

?Huh?? Haya??? Naruto was sleep talking. ???Haya??don?t??leave me???

Sakura?s heart raced. Who?s Haya? Is Naruto falling for another girl? She really hoped not. She couldn?t imagine seeing Naruto with another girl.

A moan was heard. Naruto was waking up. After he opened his eyes and saw Sakura, he quickly gave her a very tight hug. ?Sakura! You?re okay! I thought you were gonna die!?

?Naruto-kun? I can?t breathe? ?!? Sakura said.

Hearing that, Naruto let go of Sakura and did nothing but look at the girl?s face. ?Naruto-kun?? Sakura blushed, looking away from the boy. ?Why are you staring at me like that? I?m? getting embarrassed??

?Sakura?? Naruto had a serious look on his face. ?Let?s go outside. I have something important to tell you.?

Naruto took Sakura out of her blanket. She was surprised to see that she was already in her winter clothes. Naruto must have put them on for her. How sweet. The two informed Tsunade that they were leaving, and then headed off.

It was still dark, but nonetheless it was morning, Sakura and Naruto were now at the park sitting on a bench. Usually birds would come down to peck on something in there once in a while but it seemed that they migrated somewhere else. Naruto looked at Sakura seriously like before. Sakura kept blushing and she couldn?t maintain a good eye contact with him.

?Naruto-kun, what happened? Why was I in Tsunade?s house?? Sakura asked.

?The heater broke, I think. When I came to your house you were pale and cold??

There was silence in the park, broken only by the sounds of noisy children playing.

?Sakura-chan?? Naruto began to speak. ?Promise me you won?t die??

?Huh?? Sakura said, confused. ?Why are you suddenly??

?Promise me,? Naruto sharply cut off the sentence.

?Well, I promise Naruto. I won?t die.?

?Good.? And Naruto didn?t say another word. He just sat down on the bench and caressed Sakura?s hair.

?Naruto? who is? Haya?? Sakura suddenly decided to ask. Naruto flinched at those words, and she could see tears well up in his eyes. She had just said something she should not have said.

Naruto stopped caressing Sakura?s hair and faced down on the snow-covered ground. Sakura then pat Naruto on the back in an attempt to make him feel better. Naruto?s heavy breathing calmed down a bit. ?Where did you hear that name?? he said in a half-sobbing voice.

?You were speaking her name in your dreams.? Sakura replied.

?I? ? was???

Sakura nodded.

?She?s just? a person in my past?? Naruto said.

There was silence for a while. Naruto looked really sad, and it wounded Sakura?s heart.

?Can you tell me about her?? Sakura at least wanted to ease his anger. It did not look like she would be able to end his resentment .

Naruto sighed. He hesitated for a bit, then?

?I?ll try??

The blonde haired boy looked up at the dark sky, feeling pressure on his chest. Then, he began to speak.

?I don?t know when, but it was before I joined the academy. People hated me because of the demon inside me. You?d be surprised as to how many people tried to kill me. They would have succeeded, too, but kyuubi kept appearing whenever I was near death or in a dangerous situation. Many just beat me up, however. Everyday I find myself bleeding at least [I[somewhere[/I] in my f***ing body. It was also the time before I thought of becoming a ninja and stuff and kitten like that. Back then, I only thought of how to live. I never experienced any love from another person.

Then one day, after I got beaten up badly, a girl came close to me. I tried to shove her off, but I was too beaten up to do anything. ?Go away. I?m a demon,? I kept saying to her. But she persisted and still came closer to me. I was surprised to see that she was offering me some bandage. I didn?t accept it, but then she started wrapping some bandage around my bleeding leg. Of course, I wasn?t too na?ve then and watched her carefully to see if she wasn?t pulling any tricks on me.

She wasn?t. She even helped me stand up. I thanked her, and she said to me that she wanted a kiss from me. Of course she was just a kid, so she had these kinds of thoughts. I kissed her. For some reason, ever since then I wanted to protect the girl. I actually felt love from her.

From then on, she always went to see me in the same place that I had gotten beaten up in, and I made sure to come there every night, where she would usually look for me. She always brought me food and if I got beaten up she would always make me feel better. Life was beautiful for me back then. ?Haya? she called herself. She was always energetic and full of dreams. She said she wanted to become a nurse, so early in her life she wanted to learn how to cure people. Come to think of it, it must?ve been her influence that made me what I am now. She always failed in her house works and her parents always scolded her, but she didn?t give up on learning. She wanted to learn so that she could help people. I was moved by her principle, so I thought of a dream myself although I wasn?t really that determined to do so.

I told her that I wanted to become Hokage. She smiled and told me that I would achieve my dream someday, but I didn?t believe her back then. I just kept on hoping that I would be able to protect her. That was all I wanted. Everyday I would get beaten up by some strangers, but what?s a few bleeding gums compared to when I can see Haya?s smiling face everyday? I knew I loved her. She gave me the one thing I have never experienced before??

Naruto?s voice trailed off. He started to cry like a helpless little girl in distress. Sakura gave him a hug and wiped his tears with her finger. Then he pulled away and continued speaking.

?Haya gave me love. I was never so happy to be loved. I swore to myself that I would protect her with my life.

The day after she told me that I can achieve my dream, the incident happened. She went to me as usual, and with her usual smiling face. She saw the huge gash in my cloth, and the scar on my chest. My leg was also broken, and it swelled like a whale.

And then a shinobi came to us, holding a long sword. It was another man attempting to kill me. I wanted to fight this guy, but my leg was broken and I couldn?t stand up. The man raised his sword and was planning to kill me, but then Haya stood in the way. This was the moment that got me pissed off.

The shinobi glared at Haya carefully for a few seconds. I felt really helpless and I tried to reach out for her, but I just couldn?t. She stood there persistently at the shinobi and protected me. I hated myself that day. I couldn?t protect the one I love most.?

Naruto continued to cry. Sakura was also seriously listening to him.

?That day, Haya died. The shinobi stabbed her in the chest. Haya died in front of me? for being the only one? who did the right thing?

I felt rage pour in my body. My fury was indescribable. Kyuubi took over my body, and then together kyuubi and I killed the man. It was the first one that I had really killed. I was so filled with anger that I twisted his head off his neck?

And then I swore to become the Hokage. I swore to protect everyone, especially the ones I love??

Sakura was sobbing with Naruto now. They embraced each other for a long time. Sakura felt sorry for Naruto. Now all was clear to her why Naruto was like this?

?Naruto-kun?? she called. Sakura gave Naruto a kiss in the lips. ?I promise not to die.? She was more sincere than she could ever be.

?I? I?m glad, Sakura??

And then they were kissing for the as long as they could.

Snow continues to fall?

Neji stood near the edge of a cliff overlooking Konoha. He was deep in thoughts, and he showed it by simply gazing at the city, not moving, barely blinking. His arms were crossed as he was contemplating on a certain subject involving his heart. What fate was deciding, he did not want. He did not like the idea of falling for a certain girl that could not and will not ever be his. He knew it was his own fault for not being true to his feelings that he was getting hurt like this. He knew that he shouldn?t have spent all those years just looking at the girl he desired. He wanted to slap himself for not confessing to her earlier. Now it was too late ? she had already gone for another man.

?Sakura-chan?? Neji closed his eyes, trying to recall the girl?s sweet face and smooth? body.

But this was fate. He despised fate. At the same time, he despised himself.

?Neji?? a female voice called from behind the Hyuuga. ?Can I sit down??

?You would be retarded if you can?t sit down?? Neji replied, still keeping his eyes closed.

?Okay, may I sit down?? Tenten seriously asked. If there was anyone who noticed the many mistakes in the world, especially small and common mistakes, it was Neji.

?Do as you wish,? Neji said, and sat down himself.

Tenten sat down beside Neji. Her one knee curled up, and her other leg lazily spread forward. She began to speak.

?Neji, are you still grieving about her??

The white-eyed one nodded. ?I?m afraid so.? He was more silent than usual.

?It?s already been a month since they were on.? Tenten said. ?Shouldn?t you have moved on by then??

?I know I should have. I know she will never be mine.?

?Then why aren?t you moving on? There are many other girls in the world.? Tenten was trying to cheer her up. ?Neji, there are many other girls who care for you? like me?? Tenten wished she could say that.

?I honestly do not know the reason.? Neji opened his eyes. ?I? do not know?? He was breathing heavily. ??why I still? love her??

Tenten?s heart raced. She was definitely jealous of Sakura. So many boys liked her, if only she knew. Rock Lee, Sasuke, Naruto? Neji? Tenten was even thankful that Naruto loved Sakura, otherwise Sakura would either be pining for Sasuke again, or choose from the many suitors she would have. She was almost like Sasuke. Many girls were obsessed on him, and guys wanted to be him.

Then she decided she had to think of some way for him to stop looking at Sakura and move on. It was both for his, and her good.

?Neji, if you really love Sakura, you must set her free?? Tenten advised.

?I am setting her free. I just? feel guilt in myself.? Neji replied.

In a moment, Tenten knew what he meant. It just seemed like after all these years of being a team together, she got to know Neji and how he acted. She now understood what Neji wanted?

?Confess it to her, Neji-kun. It will ease your pain.?

Naruto couldn?t afford dating at ?Hunky Junky? with Sakura now, so Sakura offered dinner in her home. They weren?t together every day, as it would hinder their training, but during most of their free time, when they didn?t have to hang out with friends, when they didn?t have anything planned, they would just go together and enjoy a day, or night.

This was one of the nights, and they were enjoying themselves over a hot bowl of ramen. Naruto wasn?t exactly eating elegantly, and that meant eating really quickly and most of the time staining his shirt with the hot liquid. Sometimes it would still be hot and he would be really pissed at feeling the heat of the ramen. Such episodes would make Sakura laugh a lot. Even though this happened many times before, Naruto still wasn?t learning from this mistake.

Then Sakura?s doorbell rang.

She went to answer the door, and then she saw Neji. She was really surprised at the sight of the genin coming to her home. She barely even talked to him, and their team weren?t too close, so why was Neji in her home?

On the other hand, Neji was just bedazzled by Sakura?s beauty. She wasn?t wearing her kunoichi outfit. Now she was wearing a pink, sleeveless shirt and small shorts. Every single ounce of willpower made Neji avoid staring at her. The one he was really trying to avoid was using his byakugan just to see her body. Instead he closed his eyes and then spoke.

?May I come in?? Neji stated.

?Yes, sure.? Sakura led the Hyuuga into her house.

He sat down at the table beside Sakura. Neji looked around the house at first, as if fascinated by its simple beauty. And then Naruto spoke.

?So, what brings you to this house, Neji??

?Ahem, I kind of want this to be a personal talk, Naruto.? Neji said.

Naruto glared at the white-eyed boy.

?Don?t worry, I won?t steal her or anything.?

Naruto left the room with a pout. He better not be doing anything to her or he?ll be really, really sorry.

Sakura noticed a very serious face in Neji. He wasn?t usually this easy to read. She could tell he was going to say something serious.

?Sakura-chan? I? ?

Neji was hesitating to say it. His shaking hand was noticeable especially to Sakura, who was very near him.

?I??

Damn it! The words aren?t coming out! Was he going to be like this again? Be the coward who couldn?t speak up his feelings? No, he wasn?t. He was going to tell it to her. No matter what, he will. He promised himself that he won?t be a coward anymore.

?Ugh, Sakura-chan? I??

Neji held Sakura?s hand. He still wasn?t able to say it. He was being no different than his cousin.

And it only took a few seconds for Sakura to realize what he was going to say. If he was adding a ?chan? to her name, and he was shaking, and she could see that the boy was blushing, then that could only mean one thing.

?Neji?? Sakura said. ?Th?this is hard to believe, Neji. Do you really???

Slowly and hesitantly, Neji nodded. He was relieved. At least Sakura found out. Now the anger he had at himself slowly faded away, and he could see Sakura?s gorgeous face, now with shock and surprise.

?I?m sorry, Neji.? Sakura said. ?But Naruto is the one I love.?

Neji closed his eyes in grief. It really hurt him.

?You are a very smart ninja, Neji.? Sakura continued. ?You understand, right??

The Hyuuga nodded.

Sakura gave him a small kiss on his forehead. ?So you understand me. Good. Now, I wish you the best of luck. I?m sure you?ll find a girl for yourself, you just need a little more courage, okay??

Neji nodded again, without saying anything. He felt ashamed that he wasn?t able to say it to her, but he was relieved that she knew. This was enough.

?I-I?ll be leaving now?? Neji stood up.

?Goodbye, Neji.?

Outside the door, it was gloomy and dark, and only the streetlights were keeping the place visible. Near the door, Sakura was standing there, waving her hand goodbye. Neji couldn?t face her, ashamed that he didn?t have the courage. What would his cousin do if this happens? He did not know, but one day he will find the answer. He wanted to look at Sakura, but he just couldn?t. Instead, he activated his byakugan to see her from behind.

And then a very huge grin escaped from his lips. Finally, he got to see her body.

?AH! PERVERT!? Sakura punched Neji on the head. ?Neji, I used to think better of you!? Sakura scolded before slamming her door.

And Neji was alone again, on the dim streets, with only streetlights as his guide. He walked the distance, step by step. Home was his destination. His feet made no sound at all at the land he was treading on. As he was walking near a streetlight, his shadow extended until it joined the darkness. This reminded him of Shikamaru, one of the greatest geniuses of his time. He remembered Shikamaru?s match with Kin. Neji was? impressed by his strategy. He was going to be a great leader, and he would be able to stand up for the one he loved, not like him.

?Neji-kun?? a familiar, female voice called from behind. Neji stopped walking and turned around to see who it was. ?How did it go, Neji-kun??

?Not too bad, Tenten.? Replied Neji. ?I didn?t get to say it, though.?

?At least you let her know, right?? Tenten said encouragingly, but inside she was hurt and jealous. ?Don?t worry. Not having the courage to tell her didn?t change my image for you. You would still make a good husband, Neji-kun, and you would be able to protect the one you love.?

?Is that true?? Neji looked into Tenten?s eyes, smiling.

Tenten nodded. ?Let?s go, Neji.?

?Tenten?? Neji looked at her in the eyes. Whenever he had a problem, she was there to cheer him up. She was always aiming to make him strong, inside and out. Whenever he messed up, she was the one to worry the most. There wasn?t any other girl like her. She would make a great wife.

At the last minute, Neji realized that he was staring at her for a long time. He quickly averted his gawk, not noticing that Tenten was blushing like a tomato.

Without a doubt, Konoha was a very noisy city. People gathering around everywhere, talking about some gossip and rumor. Even in restaurants the place was noisy, since the village was full of energetic people. If one had wanted peace, then this village wasn?t the place to be.

Which is why Ino and Shikamaru chose to stroll through the forest. The village was only quiet at night, so at the morning one would not be able to find true tranquility. The two were walking through the woods, looking for a perfect place where one could lie down on the snow and look at the clouds roll by and relax at the colors. Primarily, Ino was vehemently against such a dreary activity, but the tension of her training had made Ino want to relax. She feared she would become as lazy as her boyfriend, but if that time comes, she could always stay with Sakura for a few days and get influenced by her energetic attitude again.

They continued strolling through the woods, with miles and miles of flurry trees. Shikamaru was getting tired of doing this, but when did he ever get into doing activities? Ever since he stayed with Ino, that?s when. They wanted a romantic morning to start the day off, so he suggested a peaceful place. Peaceful is always romantic, he thought.

** ** ** ** ** **

?Haaaaaa!!!? Sasuke runs full speed at a huge rock. His left hand was covered in electricity. Chidori was his move, and he was practicing in the woods. Just as the ?Lightning Edge? was about to hit the rock, the chakra in his hand disappeared, and all that hit the rock was his palm. Agh, he needed to concentrate more on training. Lately there was something bothering his mind. He needed to get the bothering out of his thoughts.

He charged Chidori again and built up a tremendously high speed. All his thoughts were on hitting the rock with Chidori, and nothing else. Almost? He pushed his palm onto the rock with the electricity in his hand. Then an image flashed upon Sasuke?s mind, and he lost concentration again. ?Damn!? he shouted, hitting the rock with his fist. ?At this rate, I?ll never get stronger!? he punched the rock again.

He still had room for more Chidori. He charged up again? and then an image of Sakura in Naruto?s arms appeared in his mind again. The electricity disappeared.

?Rgaaahhh!!!? Sasuke blasted fire to the big rock he was aiming at. A portion of it was crushed by the fire?s impact, but it wasn?t completely crushed.

Why was he like this?

He knew why. Because he was expecting so much that Sakura would be his. All those years she loved him but he rejected her, and when he was the one who loved her, he was the one rejected. She went for another guy. He just couldn?t stand it. Especially since that other guy was Naruto, the one person he least wanted Sakura to like. Who wouldn?t get frustrated if a girl chose a blundering idiot instead of you? ((Author?s Note: Don?t be offended, Naruto fans. This is just from Sasuke?s point of view))

?Hahh!!? Sasuke punched the ground, almost as if he was thinking the ground was Naruto.

Then he felt pain in his fist. Pain for punching the ground. No matter how he tries, the ground would always fight back when he tries to fistfight it.

But still he persisted. He had to let his rage out somehow, and this will have to do for now. He continuously boxed the ground, and he felt pain. So much pain. Frustratingly so much pain. Not quite as painful as he is feeling in his heart, though. Frenziedly he couldn?t stop punching the ground. Every punch he executed he imagined Naruto getting totally beaten up. With his last ounce of strength and anger, he uncontrollably activated Chidori with too much chakra and struck once again, the ground. Snow splashed all over him and then everything turned black.

Ino could see a small body of frozen water from where they were. Only a few trees were there, so it was the perfect view to the clouds

?Tch, your former love just passed out here, Ino.? Shikamaru examined Sasuke?s inert body.

?Please, Shikamaru. Don?t try to bring up the past,? Ino blushed as she forced herself a slight smile. ?You are my love now, Shikamaru. Sasuke cannot take that away??

?Don?t you think we should carry this guy?? Shikamaru already started to lift Sasuke.

?Yeah, let?s bring him to the hospital.? Ino replied.

A week later, Sasuke was back in the forest. He backtracked the place that he trained in, but when he got there, he saw Hinata practicing. Sasuke remained hidden behind a tree and Hinata kept hitting the rock that Sasuke tried to hit with Chidori. The girl then stopped after breaking a portion of the wall. Hinata seems to have seen Sasuke behind the tree with her Byakugan. Such a strong ninja was watching her train. He was probably making fun of her now. She blushed in embarrassment.

?Uhh, Sasuke?? she said. ?A-Are you watching me??

Sasuke then showed himself. ?Yeah, how did you know??

Hinata turned around to show Sasuke the veins popping out in her eyes. ?Oh?? Sasuke said.

Hinata started walking. ?W-Well? if you?re going to use this spot I?d better go??

?Yeah, you better?? Sasuke was still in a foul mood from being rejected by Sakura.

And Hinata walked out.

And then Sasuke continues his training. He did a few hand seals, and was about to charge up chakra when he noticed something. He looked around. He faced left and right. Nobody. His eyes narrowed.

?Come on out. I know you?re there.?

?Heh, heh, I should?ve known that you knew I was watching you.? There was a man who jumped down from above the tree. The voice he had was raspy and low, and from his suit, Sasuke could say he was a shinobi. He had spiky, blonde hair and blade-sharp eyes that can make one feel horror. From his looks, he was near Kakashi?s age.

?What do you want?? asked Sasuke with a very sharp eye at the shinobi, like he?s having a contest with this blonde.

Immediately, the shinobi threw a kunai at Sasuke, and he, with matching speed, avoided it at the last second, throwing his own at the man. The man dodged the many shurikens Sasuke threw at him, and the shurikens all nailed to a tree behind the shinobi. And then they glared at each other again.

?Sasuke Uchiha, am I right?? the man gave him a stern look. ?I am Kisho, and I would like to play with you??

Sasuke immediately ran and threw a punch at the guy, but Kisho dodged and then instantaneously kicked Sasuke in the stomach. Sasuke grunted in pain, but he could still sustain himself. He threw a kunai at the man, and because he was so close, he thought that Kisho won?t be able to dodge this attack, but he was quick enough to dodge.

After ducking to avoid the projectile weapon of Sasuke, Kisho tackled the Uchiha. That strike of moment gave Sasuke?s stomach pain as well as dizziness, as he felt like he was about to vomit due to the strength of Kisho?s tackle. Before he knew it, the unknown shinobi was on top of him, elevating his dagger up, and about to impale Sasuke. The Uchiha saw some liquid deposited on the dagger. It dropped small, little droplets of what look like? poison. Kisho was so close to piercing Sasuke?s heart with the dagger, but then he saw a terrible, cursed, sinister curve on Sasuke?s lips. The boy was smiling, and that meant he had a plan. Kisho took time to register thoughts on what his line of attack might be. He couldn?t just stab him - he knew that the Uchiha had always given birth to sharp ninjas. Stabbing him might just trap him into his plot.

He presumed that he wouldn?t be able to read into the Uchiha?s ruse quickly. He would?ve been trapped by his plan before he could even distinguish what it was, so he rolled away to the side, troubled by the fear of losing.

Sasuke stood up, dusting some snow on his shirt that stuck when he was tackled. ?Tch, you got my shirt dirty.? He simply said like he was never in a battle.

Kisho said nothing and made a defensive stance, the point of his dagger drawing forward?

And then he was gone in a flash.

Sasuke immediately felt pain in the back of his neck, so much that he felt so helpless and he just had to drop down. And then everything turned black.

Sasuke woke up in the same spot in which he fought in. He tried to stand up, but then he felt an extremely raw pain in the back of his neck. By the stories of Kakashi-sensei, Sasuke assumed that this was the same liquid which infected Naruto, giving him the cursed seal. But wasn?t Orochimaru satisfied? He already bit his shoulder and created a cursed seal, so why is he giving him another? He tried to push the thought away. He wasn?t getting the answer anytime soon. Now, he just focused on getting up.

His strength was really draining just trying to stand up. It felt like his neck was twisting and stinging, and his heart almost felt like it stopped. It didn?t take long before Sasuke fell down again.

He tried to raise his hands, and he saw that he had the same markings of the cursed seal, only it was glowing blue.

?A-Agghhh.......? His neck throbbed again, and then he passed out again.
