Much better than last weeks episode I think

However...few mistakes? --Click here to view--
Why was Kushina dressed in her pregnancy overalls when she found out she was pregnent? Also the doctor gives the due date as 10th October, yet i'm pretty sure Kushina states Female Jinchukiri take an extra month before giving birst, so the doc should have given the due date as 10th September right? Also I am not 100% sure but pretty sure when Kushina says Minato learnt Fuinjutsu's from kaa-san she referring to herself, and not her mother, as Subs showed.

But that aside, was still a good epsiode, did a better job of showing Minato's and Kushina's relationship.

episode was sooo cute

@harry4e, I noticed that too and thought the same thing. Probably a simple error with subs. However the way they introduced Kushina to Mito and began the vessel speech was a little murky compared to the manga (imho). In the anime, it seemed like Kushina arrives at the village and goes straight to Mito. But in the manga you get the sense that Kushina has already been in the village for a while and having her experiences with Minato, the class, etc., before she finds out she's destined to be the jinchuriki. And when she's abducted, isn't it just because she has special chakra, not because she's a jinchuriki? All of which points to that happening before her awareness of her real purpose in Konoha.

Minato and Kushina were so cute. Wish we got to see her in her grown-up shinobi clothes. But Kishimoto is very consistent with portraying her to the audience as mom only. Not a fighter, not the leader's wife, and really not as a jinchuriki except for when she is dealing directly with Naruto about it those few times. Her role is as mom. So it makes sense that she's not going to get a wardrobe change from that. Anyway, no biggie...cause moms totally rock! biggrin.gif

Sarutobi's wife looks like an old Ino. And Sasuke's mom totally looks like a femme Sasuke in the closeup!

One thing that's always bothered me about this chapter.... Kushina says she can finally join Minato. But can she? Really? Didn't seal part of himself away with the death god jutsu? (can't remember name....) It's not like Kakashi's dad who's just waiting at some purgatorial campfire. I was under the impression that Minato was gone. Big sacrifice for big jutsu sort of thing.

So can she really fully join Minato in the afterlife? Or is it just his pinky finger or something?

No, that was a bad translation. (I bought volume 53 in the original Japanese and did my own translation because I knew that translation had to be off because I knew pregnancies are calculated using a lunar calendar in Japan, and that's 10 months instead of the solar approximately 9 months, 10 days version used in the west.) but what she actually says is basically- "you know pregnancies are around 10 months" Which is how pregnancies are calculated in Japan- they use a version of the lunar calendar in which each "month" is exactly 28 days- thus any normal pregnancy is exactly 10 "lunar months" (the actual lunar month is around 29 days, but this is a specialized calendar used just for pregnancy months (related, but a "normal" menstrual month is also 28 days.) It's an easier way to calculate pregnancy, which is why it persists in Japan even today. (It's a very traditional way of calculating pregnancy- going back over 1,000 years in Japan.)

Man, it seems like the anime's really been a roll lately with these episodes. happy.gif

The opening part where the Kyuubi was defeated was awesome. I don't remember the Fox looking so skinny in the manga after Naruto pulled out his chakra though. It made me feel bad, considering what we just saw in the manga. sad.gif

The parts they added really helped the episode move along, IMO. I also thought that Kushina was a teen or something when she met Mito, but I think I like this interpretation better. Besides, it's not like Kushina meeting Mito as a child really disqualifies her from having a similar meeting as a teenager.
Oh, and the pregnancy scenes were cute.
"I'm gonna be a mother Dattebane!" "I'm gonna be a father!" "I'm gonna be mother Dattebane!" "I'm gonna be a father!" "I'm gonna be a mother Dattebane!"

laugh.gif

Other than that, it wasn't significantly different from the manga, but I thought it was great. Biyako looked a lot younger than I thought she would, but I guess it's hard to tell age in black-and-white manga pages sometimes. I was also expecting to see Tobi kidnap Naruto in the end (like they showed in the preview last week), but they probably just didn't have room for that in the episode.

Man, I can't wait till next week. That special's gonna be amazing! wow.png I just hope they leave Kushina's final words alone. Seeing as how this is a Naru/Saku FC, I have a feeling that one line will flavor everyone's opinion on that episode. I'd hate to see that happen, since it's a great couple of chapters we're about to see animated.

I'm not 100% sure on the logisitics of the afterlife in Naruto, but I guess I assumed that the portion of his soul he sealed in Naruto was able to pass on after sealing the Kyuubi away. It doesn't really make sense though, since it sort of defeats the point of the Shinigami sacrifice on his part, if he can just pass on the Pure World like anyone else after a while.

But I guess anyone's answer could be the correct one, since I don't think Kishi has really elaborated on how the afterlife works. We basically just know that there's a Pure World for most people, a Shinigami's Place for whoever uses that move, a random Susano' crazy world for Orochimaru, and a pit of rocks for Jashinists. tongue.gif

I believe that this is actually part of Minato's master plan all along.

If PJ's theory is true, then Minato had planned everything all along.

I bet you a hundred grand that Minato will be resurrected via ET by Kabuto only for him to find out he was playing into Minato's hand all along.

Yes. I first found out about it when Tashiro sensei (my Japanese language professor) became pregnant shortly before the last semester she taught the class. I often spoke to her after class about my questions on Japanese culture- especially women's culture. She enjoyed speaking about this to an American who was truly interested in Japanese history and culture- not just pop culture (anime, manga, j-rock, etc...) but classic literature and poetry, art, music, etc... She shared with me the traditional pregnancy practices that Japanese women still followed, either because it had a practical side (like the lunar calendar for the months of pregnancy) or was pleasant- like wearing an iwataobi under the clothes- it works a bit like a bra (slightly lifts and supports), over the belly from around the fifth month of pregnancy onward. For the curious, I found a website in English that sells iwataobi http://www.akinaiblog.com/product/1222

Okay. smile.gif Although I think the confusion lies the translation being " The time of a female Jinchuriki being pregnant is ten months" or something like that so it gave the impression that female hosts have their babies a month later and it wasn't explained by anyone that the were just following the cycles of the lunar calender and it applied to women in general.

All I can say is... --Click here to view--
That the more I watch Kushina and Minato in animated form, the more I too am becoming a MinaKushi fan. tongue.gif Their reaction's to Kushina being pregnant was just too funny and cute! laugh.gif I hope we get a similar scene if/when NaruSaku becomes canon. I know that chances are low, but hey one can always hope right. biggrin.gif

Like Boom, I was also pretty shocked to see just how young Biwako looked. I thought she would look much older. furthermore, I also though the would sound much older. She really didn't come off as much of a "wise old hardened midwife veteran", which was the image I originally had of her. tongue.gif

Also, Im really glad that Ciardha was able to explain the whole pregnancy thing, since I always thought it was a strange detail for Kishi to tag an extra month onto a female Jinchuuriki's pregnancy and then never really explaining it or using it ever again. But now it makes a lot more sense what with it being a totally different "unit of measure" so to speak. a_thumbs.gif

And while we are on the topic of pregnancy. Kushina's face when the asked Mikoto if giving birth hurt = epic! tongue.gif

So I finally decided to watch the episode and I'm glad I did. It was nice to see some Minato and Kushina moments. I'll definitely watch the new episode when it comes out.
