Let's us never forget what happened on September 11th, 2001 and the 3,000 people who lost their lives that day. A salute to the firefighters and policeman who bravely risked their lives to save others. It has been 13 years since then, but I will never forget that day. I was in 9th grade at the time and watched on the news as the planes hit the towers.

It is tradition that we honor those who have fallen and the men and women who put everything on the line to protect our freedom.

Well said.

I remember I was in my first period science class in seventh grade when it all started. My teacher got a call about it that interrupted our lesson and proceeded to turn on the TV. We started watching it shortly before the second plane struck.

Edit:

By the way, if anyone is looking for a good documentary on the subject, I recommend 9/11. A documentary by two French filmmakers who started filming in the summer of 2001 to profile the life of a rookie firefighter. One of the days they were shooting turned out to be Sept. 11 and they were with one of the firefighting crews that responded to the World Trade Center. It's a great film about brotherhood, loyalty and a real look at what it was like for the first responders that day. Here's a link with more info

I was working for Nike at the time, and had just returned from a business trip to their European headquarters in the Netherlands.  If my trip there had been timed even a little bit differently, I might have been stuck in Holland for an extended period of time.

But I had made it back and was at work in the US HQ, trying to reach my Dutch colleagues by phone when the attacks began.  It took a while before I found out why all the circuits were too busy for my overseas call to go through.

I spent literally the rest of the day over in the campus lounge with my co-workers, watching the news on the wall of TVs that usually carried every sport imaginable.

We were all later called onto the soccer field for a few minutes of silence, and everyone was asked to hold hands. Hundreds of people -- many of them strangers to each other, some who were not even American -- on the field, unified in thought and feeling.  It's not something I will ever forget.

I was only in 6th grade when this happened. I had no idea what was happening, and when I heard a plane had hit the building I thought like one of those small 4 man planes but was shocked when they said an entire passenger plane. I had to go the full day in school though.

My parents were let out early from their jobs but when I came home they were mortified about the stuff in New York, I came home though they told me to just play outside but i saw the condition if the buildings and I knew something had happened, I told them, something killed many people and I knew something bad had occurred. When the news went on the following days, this was just terrible. I felt angry as a kid that people would even do this, even at that time before understanding how countries just have issues with each other, I just felt angry that why would anyone do this, that was a day I learned that this world is full of dark and terrible monsters, people who will kill just because they can, that was one if those days in my life where I learned the harsh reality of some deals in this worlds. Like my parents had to worry about Russia, now my generation was given an outlook of tension with the Middle East. Such a terrible day, never forget the lost souls and those who tried to rescue them in the disaster.

I was 5, and about to turn 6 when this happened. I just remember crawling up on my parents bed and they kept being serious looking at the tv. All I know is that a lot of schools were being closed at the time. A scary month.

A day that no one will ever forget. I was leaving for college that day, and my boyfriend, now husband, decided to pick me up so we could spend my last few hours together. He came by my house early in the morning so that we could have breakfast together. When I got in the car he was listening to the radio and he told me about the first tower being hit. At first we thought it was a joke, the radio station we were listening to was notorious for doing fake skits in the morning, but soon we realized it wasn't a joke. We got something to eat real quick and took it with us, we had to take his mother to work. When we got to his place she was watching the news live and as soon as we walked into the living room I heard the reporter scream, I will never forget her voice. The camera panned to the left and that's when we saw the second plane hit. It was so surreal. We all got in the car and turned the radio on again. As we drove we heard about the pentagon and that another plane had gone missing. In those moments I honestly felt like it was the end of the world, especially since I myself had a flight to catch. It was cancelled of course and I didn't leave for another 3 weeks.  My home town is where fort bliss is located so security in my home town is always high, after September 11th things were insane. Once I did catch my flight there was a man who I was sitting next too. He wasn't allowed on the flight. All I remember was two soldier escorting him before he got on the plane, we left without him.

I was in 2nd grade. A radio was brought into the classroom announcing the news, and we were sent to the auditorium to pray until our parents came to pick us up. (It was a private school.) I was too young to really feel the emotional impact at the time, but I'll never forget it.

I was in second grade when it happened. The principal came over the speakers announcing America was under attack. I think we were so young then, my class didn't really understand what was happening. Where's New York? What are the Twin Towers? Who are Al-Qaeda? That's all we could think of at the time.

But let us also never forget what happened in Libya two years ago as well.

I was like 5 or 6. (Since everyone's saying how old they were)

It was a really tragic day. My brother who was 10 told me how at his school, the announcement went on for an hour and a half, listing basically every kid whose parents were calling them home. And my mom told me about how she heard about it on the news, but when she saw it happening live on TV she was beyond shocked. How each tower just casually collapsed. The noise wasn't clear, but you can imagine how loud and crazy it was.

And we were near downtown Manhattan at the time, and we could smell the smoke coming from the crash. And my dad told me about how the skies were completely blue, without one cloud, and he could immediately tell that it was intentional. But seeing it on TV was just really... it was really bad. Really really bad. I can still remember where those twin towers were from our window. They were really tall buildings (the tallest I think?). Now it's just blank. A day like this reminds you of that..

Why do people NOT ship these two? I just don't get it.

Probably cause they hate Sakura. When she's probably the most developed female character in the whole show.

I respect Hinata, but Sakura deserves some too.

No one should ever forget but unfortunately it seems that a lot of people have, People have started to stick their heads back into the sand and pretending there is not trouble in the world.

People want to believe that the War on Terror is over but incidents like Bengazi two years ago and of course ISIS beg to differ, someone needs to tell Obama that in order to end a war, both side need to agree to end it, otherwise your enemy will continue try to attack you.

This happened a loong time ago, I don't even remember how old I was. At that time we just happened to be vacationing in NY. We saw the building fall with our own eyes, tragic incident indeed. I was little so my memory of it is small. But my prayers go out to the victims, and the family of the victims.

A similar incident of the same magnitude happened in my country, India. I live in Bombay and that's exactly the place where the three worst terror attacks in the history of India took place. It was three years ago. I was....14 I think and in 8th grade. A normal bright sunny day and I left for my school completely oblivious to the day that lay ahead of me. It was my Math class going on and that's when the news came in and our teacher enlightened us on the topic. We came to know that one of the most densely populated and major areas in Bombay were hit by terrorist attacks. It was the Taj hotel, Leopold cafe, Oberoi Trident and....the CST station! It took around 4-5 days to clear the mess. These areas are very very close to my school and I remember the police and the military evacuating us to the safety.

I remember seeing the military and the firemen action and escorting us to the safety. I reached home and saw my parent's glued to the tv and I won't forget the tears of relief they had in their eyes when they saw me. My mom's a Lawyer and she had a case to handle at the High Court on that day and that's also where one of the biggest firings took place. Call it luck, but my mom just cancelled all the appointments she had for that day because she fell ill that day. I just hugged my mom tight that day and cried my heart out telling her that it was really great that you cancelled your appointments for today. Those were one of the WORST terror attacks the country ever saw. Won't forget that day....never ever...

Wow, I remember watching the news coverage of that. How crazy it must have been being so close to where the situation was. Terrorism really spares nobody huh. Thanks for sharing.

The experience was...horrifying. So many lives lost! So many sacrifices made. Top officials gave their lives. It was....disgusting. I was too small to understand the meaning of the word terrorism. So I just asked my dad about what it is and what are its objectives and all....and growing up a bit...I understood what he meant then. That was the real time I saw the dark side of human nature....the experience was....a bit devastating....

Terrorists will never agree to a stand still. It's either they wipe us out...or we wipe them out. Really, we could have wiped these terror organizations off the face of the map if DC would just grow a backbone and manage to gather some common sense.
