#745730 The Last: Discussion Thread

Ladies, gentlemen. I wanted to say thank you to all of you for answering my queries, and for illustrating the last movie for me. To find so many people who loved one of my favorite pairings growing up here still sharing their feelings is amazing.

With that said though, I need to start doing some reflecting. The revelations about the naruto endgame and their handling of the pairings has made me realize I have a very different opinion about what is considered good romantic plot lines and made me question when someone who loves another should move on. and frankly, after being invested in this for so much time, I still need to heal and coming here always reminds me of what I feel should have been, before 693 and sometimes (540, 474, and 469). I wanted to let you all know cause, you're awesome like that.

I'll keep my account open and maybe I'll post, but I need to wait for my wounds to heal so that I can look at this like I once did, like I did with tai and sora.

By the way, Heaven and Earth, you have such a wide, charming forehead.

Until then, ja ne.

So, in the end, what we can take from this manga is that it doesn't matter what development or chemistry a guy has with a girl in the actual manga, or even if he genuinely showed that he loved her and was willing to sacrifice his happiness and well being for her, as long as the girl in question had TRULY  fallen for someone, what happens in the manga doesn't matter. You can just "fix" it post to have all the romance that could have been made in the manga, declare whatever development or parallels two people had as red herring, make what ever feelings the guy had for the girl explained away, have the romance happen in a different medium and just declare it canon.

THAT'S THE WAY PAIRINGS AND DEVELOPMENT IS BEING MADE NOW GUYS!

I mean since Kage Summit.

Hell, I can understand why she did what she did, she was trying to spare naruto of his burden and was willing to sacrifice her happiness for him. It didn't work, but the fact that she was willing to be so selfless initially is one of the reasons I shipped this.

@Tricksie, don't you remember? Its because according to this movie, Naruto never really loved sakura. And that makes everything ok.

I hate this movie...with all of my hate.

What hurts the most about all this is that it came from the person that I thought was making a great romance between Naruto and sakura. To see him do... this to their characters, really hurts me and insults my concept of good relationships and romance.

I don't know how to feel about all this anymore.

So, to summarize the plot of the last Naruto movie, he's thinking about a confession he got from a girl he barely talked to, never really responded to her confession, and is inexplicably hit with "Studio-retcon no jutsu" to make it seem like hinata was the first person Naruto ever loved and as the jutsu finished up, he decided to pursue hinata because she loved him first. Later on, when filler villain comes and abducts hanabi as leverage, hinata is thinks about confessing again only to be courted by filler villain. At some point hinata and sakura talk about how their feelings have never really changed since the beginning of the series, even though the latter had more reason than any other character, tries to pass on the guy who probably is the best thing to happen to her, all the while still being sadden by her "true love". some time later when hinata leaves with filler villain, sakura risks her life to save Naruto and explains how his love for her was born out a rivalry, how she could possibly know that is anyones guess seeing how she needed sai to help her understand Naruto loved her and how it was a plot point in the source material. With the girl he's been pinning for since the beginning of the series basically telling him to move on, even though she should probably take her own advice, Naruto and hinata have a few forced moments, Naruto saves sakura again, naruhina fans get the kiss they wanted, and everyone is happy.

I feel actively dumber having transcribed this plot. Even by the movies own logic, Sakura still has more reason to love Naruto than sasuke.

Did I miss any details or is there any more insulting plot lines used to destroy what potential Naruto and sakura had?

Alright, so to sum up NH, kishi said he felt no desire to develop the relationship in his manga, he felt he needed to kill Neji to make it work, needed a movie that would be the only canon instant outside of the manga, he felt the need to make it seem naruto never really love sakura, and made the only two moments in his manga for NH... Basically carbon copies of things naruto already did for sakura, ie risking death to save her and inspired her.

And people wonder why we don't like this?

@NarutoUzumaki01, couldn't she have gotten what she wanted without getting hitched? I mean, she wanted to be closer to Naruto, couldn't have done that by just...being a friend when he needed and not a simple romantic foil?

@xpopurix, fair point

Why do you guys think hinata and sakura's feelings were given more consideration than naruto's? Naruto, to me, did so much more for sakura than the other pairings can say. Naruto actually cared about what she wanted, was willing to sacrifice his happiness for her, risked death to save her several times, legitimately respected her, was saved by her in more ways than one, and he was the reason she became who she was for most of the manga. So, from what I can tell, he really loved her. So why were his feelings given less consideration?

Hey guys, quick question. According to kishimoto, he had this ending planned for a while and said that Nejis death was the trigger for naruhinas connection. With what he said, are we to assume that naruto had fallen out of love with sakura or at least forgot his "crush," god I hate having to call it that, before Nejis death?

One things I personally hated about how this finale and the interviews that followed is how they're essentially saying naruto was never in love with Sakura in the first place. They can't have naruto look like a scumbag so to avoid contradicting what they said about changing affections from one to another person, they make naruto never love her. I won't deny crushes can last a long time seeing how long inos and lees crushes lasted, but with everything naruto and her did together, his attempts at asking her on dates, his POAL, Sai and Yamatos assessments, how his love for Sakura became a plot point in the freaking series, and the fact that he's the freaking main character, I would think his feelings for someone would hold more sway over the plot than a side characters feelings for him or his love interests feelings for someone who by kaka shi'a standards should be considered worse than scum

Did we ever have a chance? After reading these interviews, I can only feel betrayed.

#642129 The NEW NaruSaku Debate Thread

Posted by Newkidontheblock on 06 November 2014 - 05:06 AM

I've been quiet about this for a bit, but I'll say it. We will wait for the chapter, but we'll never forget why we want this pairing to happen. Naruto and Sakura brought out the best in each other, their interactions are hilarious and cute, and those two have recognized things about each other very few had been able to see, IE the forehead comment and sakura recognizing naruto's loneliness and strength. That's why we love this pairing.

#588582 The NEW NaruSaku Debate Thread

Posted by Newkidontheblock on 26 September 2014 - 02:08 AM

Truth be told, we've been here before as a pairing, in chapter 484, 469, 540, and this is how it all began. Sakura loving sasuke, naruto loving sakura, and sasuke loving himself. It may seem like we've a big leap back, but things have gotten better. Our development may no longer be romantic, but it is still genuine development, which is more than can be said for the others.
Could the sakura of part 1 have put so much effort into trying to save naruto from death? Could she have acknowledged sasukes faults? Could she have cried for naruto like she has so many times in part 2? Sakura may not have changed her feelings for sasuke, but there is no way we as a pairing community could ever say she doesn't care about naruto. I'd dare say outside of sasuke, naruto is the most important person in her world.

And again, naruto KNOWS she loves sasuke, he called her out on this is 469. So this action shouldn't really phase him. It only fuels what his love has been about, self sacrifice. It's not what you do for those you love, it's what you take for them. And in case we forget, she was willing to forgo seeing sasuke ever again for naruto 3 times, so it's not like she's not willing to sacrifice either.

This chapter narusaku may have lost the battle, but sasusaku lost the war. If attempted murder didn't get through her head, than her pouring her feelings out again and seeing herself getting killing might, might, DESTROY sasusaku, on both sides.
