As I own all 4 books so far (I hear he's planning more in the 'verse, just no more in this 'arc'), I rather enjoy them. Though I'm still a fraction from the end of book 4, I can tell it's going to be very open ended, thus leaving the option for Eragon and Arya to meet up again later....after all, its not like she can't go visit him or something, no?

Yes, I read already what the ending was online, but I'm reading it anyways. Truth be told, it is actually refreshing to have a different style of ending than the 'boy saves day and gets girl' ending so common of late, no?

You are missing out. The entire story is an epic read from beginning to end, if you ask me.

Ugh, don't get me started on that film. It butchered the first book, removed plot relevant characters outright, and more. If anything, the film just didn't have a flow to it, just seemed like they went from one scene to the next without any of the stuff that made it seem natural.

Finally. One of my people. Embrace me, brother, for there are not many of us on this forum! arg.gif

'Embrace' you? I don't even know you.

I'll be, uhm...over there.

Lolz.

Seriously though, knowing the ending of anything is one thing, actually experiencing that ending yourself is another. Thus, I find it annoying, not trying to troll or anything here, so you all know, that people who haven't actually read the books are trying to pass judgement on them based on summaries found on-line. It is my opinion that any decent discussion, be it about a book, film, game, whatever, requires first-hand knowledge of said item, no?

The majority of the time I don't look into buying a game, getting a new book, or starting in on a new anime series until after I've read all I could on the matter. For example, when it comes to starting in on new series, I even dig up episode lists, character lists, plot summaries, et cetera and get a basic idea of if I might like it or not. Then I dig up clips on Youtube. After that, only then do I actually start in on watching the episodes.

Again, I want to make it clear, I am not trying to troll or anything here. Just stating a fact that I prefer to discuss if a person likes a book or not and why when said person has actually read the book in question. In my mind, at least, that seems like sound judgement, no?

To the rest of you, all I can say is check the book(s) out from your local library and start reading. Like it or not, it doesn't matter, but you will be, in my opinion at least, better able to argue your like or dislike based on your first-hand experience.

For me, at least, the act of reading is enjoyment in itself. When it is a good story as well, though I prefer to try for those in the first place, my enjoyment is only enhanced.

As for book 4...

I liked this part. --Click here to view--
It isn't often you find the big boss antagonist offing himself like Galbatorix did. Of course, it was more like a final 'screw you' to Eragon and company. You can also factor in the fact he was trying to take them out with him in a 'if I can't win, then I'm taking you with me' moment.

Lol, just had a interesting thought: Galbatorix versus Palpatine. Not in a duel as fighters, but as leaders of their respective evil empires.
"What use is a word with but one meaning?"
