Sakura being a reincarnation of the Sage's wife is a pretty big asspull IMO. Moreover, it's too much more like wishful thinking. If she has to be the reincarnation of the Sage's wife, it should be revealed slowly instead of just BAM!! suddenly.
Agreed, too random.

The theme of the partnering female definitely is a strong reoccurring theme
Mito and Hashirama
Kushina and Minato
Sasori's parents
Biwako and Hiruzen (not seen fighting together, but it was clear she was his full partner- she even wore a robe styled exactly like Hiruzen's Hokage robe...)
and even though they never quite got together, Jiraiya and Tsunade echo that theme as well
There's already been a theme since part 1 where Naruto and Sakura often were on the same wave length, acted as each others strongest partner within the team, etc... then you have the mutual romantic attraction from way back.
It would take very little to build on that to complete the puzzle that would make Sakura the reincarnation of the Sage's wife. Look how little it's taken Kishimoto to lead to the possibility Naruto is a reincarnation of the Sage. Even less would be needed for the possibility of Sakura being the Sage's wife reincarnated. Heck, all it would take to make both firm would be for something to cause Naruto to have a flashback of his past life as the Sage, and see his wife and have the image blur for a panel into Sakura- boom! confirmed! That easily done. Mito's backstory and role as Hashirama's partner was told in just a few panels within Kushina's flashback for example, as was Biwako's with Hiruzen, even Kushina's herself's was a matter of a few chapters. We knew nothing of Mito and Biwako before that and only had a few panels about Kushina before her flashback chapters. If a person existed but nothing has been said of them by others before-Hashirama's wife, Hiruzen's wife, etc... very little is needed to build them into the story, even if they played a significant role like Mito did.

Also, I just noticed that all the Biju's are placed clockwise according to the number of tails they have. I don't know if that makes me incredibly insightful or just incredibly slow (although it's probably the latter).
