okay, so if any of you are following my narusaku fic, true freedom great. but anyways, here's the situation.

danzo (bad guy in my fic) wants jiraiya out of the picture. why? he wants to invade rock country. for legislation to be passed, majority of council needed. jiraiya holds the opinion of many of the council. if jiraiya dies, the council can be persuaded. so he arrests him and will try to kill him.

jiraiya is strong, but i'm not sure exactly how strong. i've written the whole death scene three times over and still can't get it right... i mean, would jiraiya really run away if ten ANBU were against him? would fight to the death? would he completely annihilate them? i have no idea. keep in mind it is early in the morning, around three. no one is there to help him.

any suggestions?\

p.s. i'd like jiraiya to die (helps the flow of my story... thanks for all the help.)

ok first don't make him too strong so then no one will be able to kill him then set up the person who will kill him then go from there.

Well, Jiraiya is a Sannin, plus 10 opponents is rough, considering that a lot of his techniques are for mass combat. I figure some kind of betrayal would be best for his loss. Otherwise, think about it, the frog stomach, the swamp of the underworld, any of his big summons would wreak havoc on a number like 10. The Rasengan is the only single opponent technique he has used in my recollection. As much as I hate to say it, in that kind of situation, Jiraiya would run. He'd probably try to fake his death, if anything, but he'd run (and succeed, if you ask me.) If someone like Tsunade or Shizune ends up having to check the body they could always lie, realizing what he's trying to accomplish. But yeah, Jiraiya should be as hard to kill as Orochimaru, give or take, and unless Jiraiya's got something to gain by sticking for the fight (I.E. something to protect, etc.) then he'd split. He'd disappear into obscurity and hermitize his pervertedness away from Konoha for the rest of his days.

The other thing is the dualized nature of Orochi/Jiraiya and Naruto/Sasuke, their deaths should involve each other. That sort of karmic relationship transcends mere coincidence and stuff like that. 10 ANBU ... it's tough. I'd say Jiraiya could come out on top. enh. But it would be pathetic for Orochi to still be around while Jiraiya's gone. Especially if Orochi and Sasuke are still seperate. If the body's been sucked up, then it's different. At that point, I think it's safe to say the legacy can continue, with OrochiSasuke being the snake of the trio.

I tend to stay away from killing off established characters unless I have a very good reason for it.

So, if I was writing this story, I would opt to come up with a problem that removes Jiraiya's influence on the council. There are multiple ways for you to accomplish this. A few ideas are:

You could use his love of women against him.
Place Naruto in danger.
Protecting Tsunade's Image ( She loves to drink and gamble )
Atsukai.
Orochimaru.

Have Jiraiya stumble upon some sort of plot to replace/rape/assassinate Tsunade. That'd be a great way for him to go. Take the bullet for his woman. It's all about the situation. Jiraiya in just a basic fight against 10 ANBU? Worthless death scene. Give it reason, give it purpose. There's two big ways to do that. The one is have them die doing something important and in character. The problem with this is Jiraiya is too similar to Naruto and any big send-off he has is one that could be used for Naruto instead. So then you can have him die 'during' something big. Then his death is seen as somewhat meaningful. Like Hayate. He died a somewhat ignominious death, but since it was technically part of the Sand/Sound invasion, it's not so bad. Conversely, had Chouji or Neji died during the Sasuke retrieval arc, there would have been merit there also. Or if Gaara had died when getting his demon sucked out. It's all a big part of the arc, so it matters. There's death after accomplishment. Yoda. He lived peacefully enough in IV V and VI and died peacefully. The death of those who have done what they set out to do. Flint Fireforge from the Dragonlance Chronicles. Similar scenario. It was just their time. I lost my train of thought at this point. Forgive me.

naruto is merging with kyuubi. more pain naruto faces, more merging. also, in my story, tsunade still hasn't learned her lesson about losing loved ones. she has to learn to move on. also, i need danzo to die. jiraiya dying makes naruto angry. thus, when naruto can finally become hokage, he has to pretty much build konoha from scratch. new council (danzo is gone), etc. it's the short version of the story. but i'm having a major writer's block right now.
