I know I know India probably has the largest constitution in the whole world No wonder it's the largest democracy as well! I can't comment on Italy's since I am not much aware of it Uhmm, Lys I'd be interested to know which type of authoritarian government you support!

It indeed has the longest constitution in the world. However, for what I remember of my studies, it's not because it is the largest democracy. It pretty much has to do with how stable the democracy is: the less stable the longer is the Constitution. Which is to say, that at the moment of its birth India had a number of problems linked with the different languages, religions and minorities ​and neighbouring countries but this, you probably know better than me.

Plus the US another big democracy has the shortest constitution, and the UK, which until less than a century ago had an enormous empire doesn't even have a written constitution.

Eh, Italy is quite the mess, plus you have to consider that the constitution has been written just after the end of Fascism and that brings a number of drawbacks that are becoming more and more evident as times goes on.

 

 

Oh LEL, authoritarian government? I'd say, to quote Sir Winston Churchill that “democ­racy is the worst form of gov­ern­ment, except for all the oth­ers”. But, if I really do have to choose one I'd probably have to say Enlightened or Benevolent absolutism, look at Catherine II of Russia or, as she's called, Catherine the Great, or even Frederik the Great of Prussia. It's quite the interesting topic to study.

Teeeeechnically the U.S is a Democratic REPUBLIC. ( its where they coined the terms republican and Democrat i imagine...) Republic is also in the pledge of allegiance. 

Anyways, the genius' that they were Founding fathers recognized that a Democracy could become mob rule, which is just as much a threat to liberty as the rule of a sole king. ( these guys were very, very big on having as little government interfering with people as possible.) The frame work was designed to to protect people from unchecked and possibly unconstitutional popular demand. But at the end of the day, the representatives are held accountable for what they did, or failed to do

I mean, just last year or so, a whole SLEW of republicans/democrats lost seats to OTHER republican's because they failed to do their responsibility to the people. Which was represent them.
